Interestingly, I got to know Yoohyeon's cover before I got to know DC, because TH-cam recommended it. I'm stuck in the nightmare since :) All their covers alone deserve its own special album..

Dreamcatcher members are talent monsters. Yoohyeon is our little puppy, but she could really easily be a main vocal in any other group. And Siyeon is just out of this world. If she would sing the phone book I'd drop everything I'm doing and listen.

Dreamcatcher definitely have earned their nickname as the Queens of covers. Yoohyeon’s recent cover touch is amazing as well. Also if you don’t want to die stay away from SuAs covers. If you want to be killed well just keep checking them out cause DC will never disappoint.

Especially Yoohyeon was so young there! She's improved greatly since that cover and it's so amazing to hear! Siyeon's Speechless is legendary, and girlie barely spoke three words in English at the time, so it's mostly phonetics too. She's insanely good! ❤️❤️❤️

@@BrockTheDon They have always been really good at singing English phonetically. Only Yoohyeon is fluent in English. SuA and Dami can make themselves understood. The rest is...not great, although many of the members are taking English lessons. You'd never be able to tell from their covers, though. Even during their debut era (and before, as MINX), they rocked English covers.
@@MayDawney From my very limited experience from a couple of years ago (specifically October '19, when I met them for about a minute each), I wouldn't call Yoohyeon necessarily _fluent_ (at least as I understand the term), but she's certainly close enough, and she can pretty easily keep up with a conversation in English. Dami actually _really_ surprised me; while not at Yoohyeon's level, we had a pretty smooth conversation - up till then I'd barely heard her say more than a few words at a time, so I was shocked to realise how good she actually was. SuA and Gahyeon managed to summon enough words to grasp what I was asking them and come up with a simple answer. Siyeon and JiU, I think we got barely more than a word or two through, despite our best efforts (and I'm fully aware that as clear as I was trying to be, the way I spoke, both in English and terrible Korean, may have been a barrier 😜)...
Again, though, that was over two years ago, and I think Yoohyeon, Siyeon and SuA _at least_ are actively taking English lessons nowadays...
@@Brickerbrack Yep, all true. Yoohyeon has gotten a LOT better, though. Based on way too many vlives, interview clips, and video fan meet footage, there is very little she doesn't understand anymore and while her grammar is often a bit off, her vocabulary is definitely large enough now to carry a conversation without too much effort.
Dami, I think, can understand English fairly well, and she's probably improved a bit. SuA basically bluffs her way through it, but yes, she has been taking lessons.
I think everyone else is still in that space where they understand stuff and can reply (brokenly) when it's about Dreamcatcher things, but if you go beyond that scope, they falter. Which-totally fine!
The way siyeon always adds vibrato on her singing is so good

Big Doggie Yoohyeon has made some of the best Little Mix covers ever. Which says so much for her vocals, because Little Mix are a vocal powerhouse. Touch was also amazing.

@@BrockTheDon They're really underrated. Siyeon's cover really made me emotional. I would suggest you to check their self-made songs as well: Sahara, Break The Wall, and Poison Love. Handong isn't in the first two because she went to China and got stuck there due to the pandemic but is back in the 3rd.
if i remember correctly that Speechless live was like, they flew in Belgium and did the k community festival and then flew back home... so jet lag and everything, but they nailed their performances...
If you're struggling to find a short guide for Dreamcatcher, I suggest you check out Insomnicsy's "This is..." series of videos. The series is made up of short videos (about 7 minutes each). There 14 videos that are focused on the individual members (a 2020 version and a 2021 version for each) and 1 video focused on the group as a whole.
The member videos are mostly about their personalities, with a little bit of real info thrown in (birth date, position, etc) for good measure.
So, if you're short on time and can't do a full guide, you could pull one or two of these out of your pocket and do them instead. Fair warning, most of these are equal parts hilarious and bias wrecking.
You don't have to worry about reacting to any of Insomnicsy's videos. She's like Dreamcatcher's unofficial PR department. Just be sure to give her channel credit for making the videos. In fact, if you drop her a line to let her know you plan on reacting to her videos, she'll probably point you to a playlist.
if you want more live dont forget Dreamcatcher are going to perform at Primavera Sound 2021 and are the first ever kpop group to do so! if you can maybe you should attend it!!

They're known as one of the best vocal groups so for Yoohyeon to nail that cover by herself is pretty impressive.
You should check out the original. There are 2 versions. Secret Love Song feat. Jason Derulo and Secret Love Song Pt.2 which is a more stripped (better imo) version.

that video you saved at the end with siyeon being a main vocal is pretty good too :D
many of dreamcatcher's special clip covers are in english. the two you heard were more on the serious side. many of their special clips outside the ones for b-sides are more on the fun side and give some insight on their personalities and musical preference. yoohyeon said she likes little mix, and siyeon likes aladin(probably the cartoon version knowing her lol).
if you decide to react to their longer guides, maybe skip the music section so you won't get any spoilers. some of the longer guides have divided in sections so it's easy to bypass the music part since they actually play long segments for a lot of their songs.
I don't know if she's seen the cartoon version of Aladdin, to be honest, but she saw the live action version three times. Speechless was also a new song; it wasn't in the original animated movie. 🙂

@@BrockTheDon look up shadow by siyeon and dami. Make sure it's the lyric video not the music video because it just from the kdrama black hole and kind of distracting. There are two of them shadow and shadow slow version. Then There is paradise by siyeon which is top tier, but the piano version of that one...you will truly ascend to the heavens.

I think DC have 2 main vocal Siyeon and Yoohyeon and Siyeon has the best vocal control in my opinion.

Yoohyeon could absolutely be a main vocalist, and she does pretty much get equal line distribution to Siyeon, but Siyeon is just…on another level entirely when it comes to singers. She has *masterful* control over her voice. Notes, dynamics, tonality-she’s a vocal chameleon. I’d definitely recommend checking out her live cover of Overdose and the special clip for her original solo song Paradise. Then you’ll really get to 1) see her in her natural rock element on Overdose and 2) hear her high notes on Paradise. And actually, if you REALLY want to hear her high notes, watch their old song Why Did You Come To My Home from Minx era. She hits whistle notes.
And you probably know Yoohyeon’s cover from Little Mix! She’s a fan of them and also covered their song Touch.
It’s really incredible to find a group of this size where EVERY member is so vocally talented, even among the rap line! Because even Dami has an incredible singing voice and can keep up with Siyeon in terms of power when she wants to. They dueted on an OST called Shadow and I highly recommend checking that out. Dami does the high notes for both the original and slow versions and both their vocals are incredible. Her recent cover of Palette with Yoohyeon also shows how far she’s come vocally.
For the other members, if you want to hear their vocal range:
Sua: Copycat and I Love You (w/ JiU and Siyeon)
JiU: Honesty
Handong: First Light of Dawn (her Chinese single) and Snapping (live performance from Halloween concert)

But in terms of the whole group, no song of theirs is more of a flex of their vocals and performance magnetism than And There Was No One Left. The special clip is literally just them sitting on a couch staring into our souls.

I feel like Yoohyeon's Secret Love Song is a wee bit overhyped because while she absolutely slays it (as always), it feels a bit overproduced and isn't really her best cover imo. She really shows off her vocals in her cover of "its not that it can't work" and her forte is softer more playful pop pieces like "perfect' and "touch". Speechless is a gorgeous piece from a subjectively mediocre movie and definitely worth a listen. I highly recommend Siyeon's cover of "overdose" (for her rock vocals), "city of stars" for a smooth broadway vibe and "Eraser" which I think is possibly one of her most iconic and most underrated covers. Speechless is from the live rendition of Aladdin and was actually composed for it. I love this song, since it gives Jasmin some more depth in character. The original singer is really good, as well. Her name is Naomi Scott and her rendition is worth to react to as well!

In Dreamcatcher's 2021 reality show one of the episodes said "main vocalist Yoohyeon" and that's all I need to consider her promoted to Main Vocalist with Siyeon , even if all the info websites haven't been updated. Yoohyeon's low register is very full and rich (with SuA and Handong) but she only gets to show that off in covers. Yoohyeon, Siyeon, and SuA have done two covers together including "Really Really" by Winner, and that is a showcase of SuA and Yoohyeon's gorgeous low tones.
I think you mixed up the covers (or missed out some words)... It's "Really Really" by Winner, and "Oh My" by Seventeen... 😁
And yeah, both are must-sees...
If you are thinking of getting into a new group, I think you would really like Ateez! they are a 4th gen group and are some of the best performers in the industry especially with their live stages. it's okay if she also push into the main vocal position, because there's so many group in KPOP which has 2 main vocalist. like for example, (G)I-DLE, they have 2 main vocalist, which is Minnie and Miyeon. it's just that, in the case of DREAMCATCHER, they were the All-Rounder group, which can do multi-positions. and if you put Yoohyeon into main vocal position, it will be hard for her, because, she's also one of the lead dancers of DREAMCATCHER. the main vocal supposed to hold and carry only 1 position, unless she was the leader, center, visual, or face of the group.

My two favorite K-pop acts are Dreamcatcher and Mamamoo ...and I noticed you have yet to react to Mamamoo. That hurts! They are kind of similar in the way that they both have fought hard to get to where they are and both groups are also very vocal and performance centered. But then the similarities ends. Style of music is completely diffrent. Mamamoo is THE only group in which Siyeon and Yoohyeon would be relegated to subvocals. Mamamoo is famous for sounding exactly the same live as recorded. Recommendations: Starry Night, Egotistic, gogobebe, Decalcomanie, HIP and you cannot miss the Immortal Songs Medley.
Mamamoo are also notorious for being _terrible_ at lip-syncing. 😜
Honestly, I think Siyeon and Yoohyeon would fit right in (and Byul already loves 'em)... and they wouldn't be sub-vocals because Mamamoo don't play that game. 😎

honestly.... the autotune in SIyeon's cover of Speechless is so bad... it destroys her vocal color and the rawness of her voice... in addition I just want to say that she is an awesome singer.. but man sometimes production focus too much on cleanliness... a little bit of rawness isn't bad though...
