If stop like a little, meaning little "pause and go" then don't bother with the handbrake. But if stop for a while then you can think about the handbrake. Hope this helps and wishing you all the best learning!
Parking: what if we follow this sequence: footbrake on, gear from D to P, parking brake on, then release footbrake. Isn't this simpler? Or it risks damaging the transmission?
