We really didn’t know what happened with them in real life.where they dated & they were serious and they even talked about marriage but they had a big fight and they broke up-and within a few months she married James Keach who directed some of the series of DQMW and I bet you that the two of them did not get over it and still love one another and it showed with all of the episodes til the end.
They dated after they did the pilot and from what Jane was saying during her interview that it was serious and they talked about marriage too but somehow they had a big fight and they broke off.She met James Keach then a few months later they ended up getting married and Joe was heart broken & Joe said that it took him a while to get her out of his system.☹️

I understand that Micheala was a virgin, who came from the Puritan culture of Boston and she exhibited that she was naive in the matters of the heart. When she questioned a young, healthy, viral man, who was a widow whether or not he had been with another woman since the death of his wife, it was mind blowing and genuine on her part. Sully wasn’t feeling her sentiment at the time eventhough he knew she was naive.😁
@@vickiross1025 I would say since we have started courting.She only knew that she was and wanted to remain a virgin until she was married because that was her value system.She also couldn’t grasp what was expecting during courting. Dorothy explained to her that she herself didn’t know what pure love was because she had never experienced it. Micheala was ready to kick her virginal existence to the curb when she had been rescued by Sully in the Abductors and they experienced the honey/berry scene😉.
@@roslynbelton9019 frankly I don't like how that scene (the morning after they jump from the cliff) was so sexually charged - whether it was their idea or it just sort of happened because of the chemistry between the actors. Michaela is supposed to be hurt and shocked after what she went through and she just needed him to hold her, nothing more imo. As for the episode with Catherine, I agree it is an eye-opener for her, she never really understood before the kind of relationship Sully wanted to have but she needed time to accept that her values could still be valid while allowing herself to be more physical.

I'm always interested in the perspectives of others. I think of all the suitors Michaela had and her behavior in front of Sully. Michaela might have been ahead of her time as a woman and was a good doctor, but she was insecure and immature in relationships. The fact she even entertained the idea of marriage with the Reverend was proof of her immaturity. It was as if all she wanted was to be married. She used the orphans as her excuse to marry. The fact that she was so naive that she didn't understand Daniel was falling for her made it hard to watch. It's easy to understand how she still had feelings for David. But she needed to be more mature and up front with Sully and tell him that she needed time to think rather than to let David and Sully come to blows. And then there's Dr. Burke. Their lives were parallel in nature (both as doctors and part of the upper class). Sully was willing to fight for her, but he understood their differences. He knew who he was. For the most part, he was the mature one in the relationship. He gave Michaela space and the freedom to choose. Yet, Catherine comes into their lives and Michaela is hurt?! Much like Michaela and Dr. Burke, Sully and Catherine have parallel lives. He pulled away and shook his head when Catherine kissed him. He had empathy and compassion for Catherine, but Michaela had his heart. I sometimes wish there were would have been other females interested in Sully so Michaela might have grown up faster and seen what she really had. But, Sully would never have done anything because that wasn't his true nature. As Dorothy told Michaela, "He's like an arrow on a compass that points due North."

@@fidelitabasa4008 yes, for someone so smart she acted really dumb at times. Like the time she told that buffalo hunter that Sully didn't die & he went hunting for him again Then, telling Sully if he killed the man she was done with him. I like Michaela, but her attitude drives me crazy at times.
I agree with all of your points. I got really frustrated during the Catherine argument when she asked if he had been with another woman since Abigail died! What did that have to do with Catherine?! She was like a spoiled tween. She & Sully were courting when Reverend proposed & asked her to marry him, & let him kiss her. So what right did she have to ask such a question? She acted like she was scared to death every time Sully tried, but didn't say a word to the preacher. You're right, she looks at David & said, don't leave Daniel tried to leave twice & she tried to keep him around. Dorothy tried to tell her how it was with Sully and Daniel, but she wouldn't believe it. That frustrated me so much. I know Sully loved her and she got him out of a couple of bad situations, like he did for her, but I think he & Catherine could have been happy together. When she told him he hurt her & she didn't think it would ever happen, I thought, you've hurt him. Another time I got frustrated is when lightening hit the barn at the old homestead & he comes running after she & Matthew put it out. I hated the way she yelled at him for not being there. Then there's the time she was jealous of Sully and Dorothy. She told him to wipe that silly smirk off your face, or something like that. One thing I'd like to ask someone. It's about Abigail's ghost. Why did she not tell someone about it.? Shouldn't the kids behind the curtain have been able to hear her talking? Why did she not want Sully to fix up the cabin? Was Abigail influencing her decision? Was it all a dream like Charlotte's visit?
