I wouldn't say the big ten has been dominante. Most of of the national championship in the last 20 years have belonged to the SEC! The Big ten is the second best conference. But the SEC is still the best conference overall.
Man my Terps are just a couple of pieces away for just being pretty good in the BIG10. W have played the best teams really hard in the past couple of seasons. I feel like if Maryland would be able to keep recruits from the DMV home more we would be able to compete a lot better. The DMV is one of the hottest areas for recruiting in the country.
One problem i dont see being brought up is that we keep promoting schools while rarely relegating anyone which overloads the greats with mod tiers that shouldnt be competing at this level. I think a relegation system where every confrence basicly becomes 2 confrences (think SEC Elite and SEC Lower for example). The bottom 2 teams in the elite get kicked to lower while the lowers top 2 get promoted into elite the next year
It is what it is. Whether it's good for college football or not is irrelevant. The bottom line is that there are Haves and Have Nots in college football just like there is everything else. You can't tell large schools, with large budgets, they have to do and be the same as the small schools with small budgets. That's not practical.
I dont know if it's a good thing. But it's here. I would call it the starting point of the next phase of college football. My advice to those schools and conferences on the outside. Gather the best of your conferences combine them and discard the rest. So maybe it's 3 instead of just 2. For the schools on the outside of that. You have had 50 or 60 years to get up to that level. You had your chance for a long time. Now times up.
So how long before these “best” teams just up and split and make their own NFL AAA version of college football. It has to be coming once FBS football is able to gain even MORE autonomy.

As things stand, the expanded college football playoff has only furthered the divide between the blue bloods and the mid-majors. Liberty at +300 has the best odds of any non-power conference school to MAKE the CFP. I knew from the outset that the college football playoff would prevent mid-majors from ever having a chance. Cincinnati getting in was a miracle, and the Bearcats didn't belong. The BCS system was the only hope for small schools. Boise State was primed to make it to the national championship game in 2010 before Alabama blew a 28 point lead that started with Ingram's fumble against Auburn. If Bama held, Boise just needed to win its last few games. Now, it's even worse because a mid-major has to win 3 or 4 games to win a championship.
How does this make any sense. A mid major is now guaranteed a shot to play for the national championship by winning in the CFP which one G5 team is guaranteed to get a bid. Was Bose State granted that in 2010? Literally contradicted yourself there
