Im having a similar situation with my 12 sonic turbo. I went directly to the fan bypassing everything else, with battery voltage and the fan works fine. I replaced all the related fuses and relays and the issue persists. I bought an obd diagnostic tool that is able to command the fan on, which it does come on. No faults stored. the radiator temperature sensor is not reading in line with the coolant temperature sensor, so i guess im going to replace that this weekend. Ill update afterwards.

I am currently dealing with this situation but nothing has changed after bypassing the 40fuse

I also have a similar problem with my 2013 Sonic Lt 1.8. I saw that that same fuse was split and replaced it. The fan was still not turning on. I later started messing with the two relays at the bottom right corner and soon came to find out after resetting the computer that both fan relays are bad reading the check engine.I am going to replace them hopefully this week. In the scenario where after replacing the relays the fan still does not turn on what do you think might be the issue. I am leaning towards maybe a sensor. I already replaced the fan and can confirm it works and it is also not wiring.

@@vinny5133 I ended up finding out that I had a bad water pump therefore the sensors were not picking up temp. But even so the fan would still only turn on when it was needed or once it reached a certain temperature which took a while. I first noticed it was working when I was on a long drive and heard my car louder than usual which there I found out the fan was functional. I still find it weird that it does not stay on the whole time since sonics are know to over heat but Thankfully my sonic never over heats meaning the fan is doing its job. I recommend leaving the car on for a while and seeing if the fan eventually turns on on its own. And if not fishing out the problem little by little.
These are all of the parts I replaced trying to fish out this problem
      Radiator fan itself
      Two relays and one fuse
Temperature sensor located on the thermostat housing and temperature sensor located at the bottom of the radiator on the passenger side.
      Water pump
      And finally thermostat housing.
I definitely should’ve not wasted all that money on parts I didn’t need but I just needed the car working as soon as possible

@@vinny5133 I also had a coolant leak so watch out for those problems. The leak was from the water pump itself. Once i fixed the water pump the fan started working only when needed.

I just had my fan replaced but noticed it doesnt come on in idle and I only notice it comes on when the AC is on. Is that normal? Isn't the fan only supposed to come on if the engine is hot when the Ac is off? The reason I had to replace the fan was my ac wasnt working correctly so they replkaced the fan and ac fan. But I recently noticed I didnt seethe radiator fan on with the Ac off but not sure if I would even notice it kicking on because at idle.

I do know that the radiator fan can turn on while the AC is on or off. The radiator fan cools the engine and I believe also assists the cooling process of the AC fan located in the cabin.

Probably a thermostat problem on your end. The fan turns on automatically when AC is on
