The projection is wild, here’s what I saw for this entire video. FD, a man patiently explaining to a smug intentionally illiterate child why he makes content. Have you ever considered ….. just considered, that because you want fd to “change his words” that maybe, just maybe the reason that is, is because you don’t comprehend his content.
Bro should move to Haiti if he wants to live in a place where "the system" has been destroyed. No bigwig capitalists, no pesky white people, no abusive police, no imperialistic military. On paper, Haiti already has everything he wants
I don't know what's with the hate for Candace Owens. I mean okay, I can understand why people don't like her but she's no where NEAR as bad as Hasan, not even in the same sentence.
@@nas5276 I think they’re crazy in different ways. Hasan is an unhinged lunatic with pretty privilege. He says and does things as insane as Nick Fuentes, but people give him a pass ‘cause socialism’s the “in” thing at the moment. Candace is more of a Dave Rubin who says and does things that’ll get her in the good graces of her base. Pathetic spineless in addition to being a grifter and just as incapable of having a conversation with someone who disagrees with her as the rest of the grifters she associates with.
@@jcnot9712 See if you said Nick Fuentes, then I would have agreed with you that He's just the Hasan Piker of the opposite side, you are correct. And yes I would also agree that Candace is more like Dave Rubin BUT how is that bad? How is having a more centrist/non-extremist view a bad thing? " Pathetic spineless in addition to being a grifter" I'm sorry but Leftwingers are BIGGER grifters than any other political isle I've seen (Centrist, liberal, libertarian, right wing, etc.). I'd argue FD Signifier, Hasan, Noah Simpson, Vaush, Keffals, Shaun, Joel, and Folding IDeas are just top of my head as the biggest and smuggest grifters of them all. Honestly the only leftwingers that I consider intelligent and genuine are Destiny, Jimmy Dore, and Ana from TYT. I'd also say that while TYT's Cenk is batshit insane he's at least not a grifter. Most liberals, right wingers, libertarians and centrists are genuine. " "Incapable of having a conversation." You've just described 99% of leftwingers/Breadtubers. Candace and Rubins actually have conversations with people of all political isles while leftwingers like Hasan, Noah, Vaush, FD etc. almost never want to debate because they'll be incredibly bad faith like what we've seen here.
I must correct you, "champagne socialists" are normal socialists. Nearly all leaders of this movement come from bourgeoisie or higher class backgrounds. All of them are "highly educated." FD is just a black Trotsky without the clout needed for an October Revolution.

@@HiGlowie as a leftist myself, it pisses me off that FD coulsnt get his ego under control when Khamal was as good faith as they come, and he was genuinelly fact checking stuff which should always be a priority imo. Even at the start, this diss towards debating was just, ahh wtf Idk if he understands the importance of debate in politics, even if it was only for entertainment, which it isnt, since the audience can be exposed to great arguments, and to another perspective, as well as the fact that that will prepair them for conversations in the real world whare they would need to use rethoric in order to be persuaisive. So his, wierd antagonism towards debating just rubbs me the wrong way. He also didnt admit that, the self help stuff lacking on the left, which it severely is, to the point that the far right has more tips on it than a lot of leftist media figures have, which allows the far right to slip in negative influemces eithin the self help. Idk what to say. I like his content, but he seems to hit a brick wall when it comes to beeing more wholistic abour politics ( which i know not everyone is up to the task, its cirtainly not easy, but it is a necessary skill in politics) The ego, i think is a part of this kind of leftists predjudice for anything that isnt left, and that is that he seems to think that people just knharently have a double meaning when they say something, that people are trying to conceal racism or sexism and so on. But whille that is true many times, we cant just assume that this is the case by default. Group guilt is a logic that leftists should least of all subscribe to, unless a groups fundamental identity relies on haterid towards an outgroup, like fashism - but conservatism whille it is rightwing, and has some tendencies, it is cirtainly not fashism. Besides this, there is a destinction to be made between an actual conservative racist, and someone who isnt really a racist, but just uses language that used to be the norm, so they arent aware how they come across to others. And again, i tend to aguree with most of what FD says in hisown videos, but then there are thease wierd moments whare he just lacks self awareness 😂 Anyway, have a nice day
Most def, I'm just lost on saquon Barkley stuff, his rookie contract was like 2nd highest in the league, his current contract with philly is like 4th or 5th highest on nfl, and was outperformed by a rookie last year who was limited. Maybe Lamar Jackson woulda been better for his point, idk he never clarified anything from what I've seen so far.
"Hasan is principled" god give us all strength the entire part about how he's a self-admitted propagandist and thinks it's a good thing, entirely uncritical of the harm his smugness is doing to the perception of the left. just, my god. I used to at least respect this dude a bit among his peers as someone who seemed to at least buy the stuff he was trying to sell to people, but this smug lefty "I promise I'm just using propaganda for good, smiley face" nonsense is only ever going to make more people hate left-aligned people for years to come. that plus the sheer inability to ever concede any point or just be wrong ever, like one person saying "oh damn that's a good point actually you got me there" is going to collapse the entire political ideology overnight. Noah Samsen jumping through unfathomable mental hoops to defend a misguided flagging campaign because muh politics is another great example. he literally could have just tried to justify what Illy did and say she had every right to flag the dude's video, but instead he tried the weaselly little liar dude approach of um acktuallying everything for like an hour. the left learned nothing from Hillary and the basket of deplorables. they learned nothing from Trump. sad! many such cases!
I think FD Signifier epitomizes a lot of what's wrong with lefties nowadays and what's been wrong with lefties across history, but on principle I actually agree that being a self-admitted propagandist is a good thing. Acknowledging the genuine role of propaganda and not pretending you're some perfect intellectual algorithm that only speaks in hard facts/logic is a good thing. The first step in convincing humans of your point of view is coming across as human yourself, which in part means using strategies that will appeal to them while using the hard facts as your foundation.

Maybe it’s because I’m closer to FDs age, but I’ve heard him say multiple times that when he’s touching a subject he’s not well versed in, he’ll recommend other channels (many times smaller channels) that viewers should go check out for a more fleshed out perspective. I’m a fan of FD because he has a perspective of an older millennial like myself and I’m also a fan of yours because it’s encouraging to see young creators having a grounded view on things.

What I think is so funny is his implication that any kind of reading will drive one to his viewpoint. I’m reading Sowell’s “Vision of the Anointed” right now and boy does the good Doctor have FD’s number in that one.
Whenever somebody says "You need to read this book" when discussing a topic. That means they don't understand the topic themselves. Usually it means this: 1. They own the book, but didn't read it. 2. They own the book, but mostly skimmed through it. 3. They read the book, but didn't understand the material they were reading. Anybody who has a truly firm understanding of an issue is able to talk about it in their own words without telling somebody to read an entire book on the topic. The idiom "If you can't teach it, then you don't understand it" comes to mind. If somebody is talking about an issue and then when pressed for details they say "Oh go and read X." It's because they're just regurging talking points and don't really possess well rounded knowledge about the topic.
At the end of the day FD is a race hustler. Plain and simple. It used to be people like Al Sharpton and you could see him coming a mile away. Not just because of his girth, but because he was so obviously a hustler. With people like FD, he comes at the hustle from an academic angle. It's just as sleazy if not more, but it sounds better. It's the same old hustle though. FD and AL both do well using our race as a come up.

Fd Signifier creating a leftist black creator space runs into one significant issue: Most of us who live and work around black people make someone like FD Signifier an anomaly. He's a small percentage of perhaps some other academic in the black community who are these specific kinds of leftists, but claim to speak in an authoritive way regarding the black community overall. Thing is almost no one - especially working class and even middle class in the black community talks like FD or has remotely similar thoughts about capitalism. One thing that does stand out to me is that alot of people I run into in the black community - especially business owners and entrepreneurs believe they have agency and their attitude reflects it. FDs core worldview reflects that he nor any other marginalized person has agency because the system is too stacked against them. Most black people don't believe that and their actions reflect that.
The worst part is that he doesn't even acknowledge that he is going against what he's preaching. He was able to develop his channel and build wealth off of that.

This conversation is wild, especially when someone seems happy not to know anything and acts like that somehow makes them more enlightened. It’s crazy that he thinks not knowing stuff and "talking normal" means he has a better understanding just because he’s avoiding academic language or theory. Being proud of ignorance doesn’t make you insightful-it just means you’re missing out on deeper understanding. And if you think FD is smug, that’s probably more about your own insecurities. Confidence can get mistaken for arrogance, but that’s usually a personal issue. And it's evident dude didnt go to college and he is very much anti-intellectual. I didnt see any desire on his part to actually have an academic conversation.
Shouldn’t FD, a very gifted and generous man, a solider for black people everywhere, condescend from the ivory tower and bless this young cat with deep wisdom spoken in the vernacular; so that all may benefit from his breath of knowledge? What happened to having the heart of a teacher? And If he can’t explain his position simply doesn’t that betray a lack of understanding?
This was an intresting discussion betwenn you two. Gotta say, I respect FD for checking by, clarifying his viewpoints and being respectfull. If we had more discussions like this, where people with diffrent views conduct themselves and argue in a respecful manner, I think the world could be a better place.
This video taught me a lot about communicating and I am only 30 minutes in. First off, Kudos to Kahmal for sounding so non threating and approachable. He really kept F.D. Signifier open and connected to the conversation. However, I am taken aback by Kahmal's insinuations especially when F.D. left accidentally and a member of the voice chat, presumably an acquaintance of Kahmal, noted that "F.D. left when you (Kahmal) yelled at him". That set the tone for me as to how Kahmal and presumably his acquaintance saw the discussion. Also could be with past experiences with other TH-camrs and this pattern of discussion. Regardless, it is a good discussion nonetheless. I didn't feel, and haven't felt, that F.D. is smug when he is conveying his message. I watched many of his videos and none of them scream smugness to me. However, if F.D. was to be smug and is correct, would it matter? Say that F.D. is correct but is smug and gets the point across, what should it matter? Especially if he goes on other people's channels, open to discussion, even when the chat is doing him dirty. Approximately at 38:00, a debate starts about F.D's "How Black Athletes are Exploited" which slowly transitions to a debate about which sport is blackest & why Football is more abusive than Basketball in-terms of contracts. It surprised me that Kahmal wasn't aware of some of the facts that F.D. mentioned. I didn't know them either before watching the video but you'd expect somebody ready to debate the point to know some of those facts, specifically how sports are exploitive since the video is about that. I commend Kahmal's curiosity to ask about the points he didn't know but I'd expect him to prepare at-least.
You shouldn't prepare for a debate. The conversation went in a different direction so that doesn't make sense. You are just an fd signifier stan and didn't pay attention to khamal
He was just stating that the smugness turns some people off and then if he’s actually making a good point the audience misses it or have turned there ears off because they may hold some of those views that he could’ve swayed them from. But because a person feels that they are being belittled or talked down to they can’t except the information. We all have egos and there’s a thin line to how much we can accept. It takes a really open mind to be able to push passed someone talking to you like a child or out right insulting them and grab the knowledge that’s being given. It’s just like having a boss thats a genius but that yells a lot. Most people or atleast I don’t respond well to yelling. Although I’ve learned how to differentiate between yelling out of anger and trying to demean me versus yelling out of frustration or the person hasn’t matured enough to communicate well. It still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I’m a supervisor at my work and I’ve learned there’s a balancing act that you have to use when trying to get adults to listen to you and do there jobs well even though they signed an application that says exactly the things that are required of them.
This boiled down to, "I dont care about facts or reality, your tone hurt my feefees." As well as, "I wont read long passages or watch long videos, make everythin short and simple for me bc anythin else hurts my brain." Did the child forget you can play things at accelerated speed and that you can look up phrase or terms you dont understand. Pathetic more than anythin.
"Tone" is just the general annoyance of race peddlers/preachers and the overabundance of them. Yea their tone, as is yours, is smug. They are totally not needed in today's society and only cause harm to it (like causing segregation, resent and feeding into a certain unjustified arrogance and malpractice) besides filling up their own pockets though. Good thing someone in the race finds them annoying as well and dares to say it instead of 'staying on code'...
I'm 47 minutes into the video & this is the impression I'm getting. Seems like he fundamentally misunderstands because it's easy to live in ignorance smh.
"Americans only care about illegal immigration from Mexico" Bruh, show an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, Ecuador or Peru to any American and I guarantee that not one American (that doesn't speak Spanish) will be able to know the difference. It's not even a case of ignorance.
For the record, even us Latinos cannot necessarily tell the difference in people from these countries until we hear them speak & even then, it depends on class & other factors. For example my family’s from Cuba and looks Spanish so it’s not unusual to get asked if if I’m from Argentina
Honestly, I feel like calling someone "smug" isn't a valid argument, especially when the person who you're calling smug has the credentials and has done the research most in this comment section haven't. Im glad yall were able to have a civil discussion but the way this fanbase just dismisses the topics or any argument because they see him as a "grifter" or a "commie" just shows whos actually unwilling to engage in a productive discussion. Like he said at the beginning, debate is mostly entertainment as most ppl aren't in it to have a learning experience. Very disappointing comment section, but i congratulate you on your attempt to have an honest discussion.

The " change the way its said that will help" excuse has been used since the civil rights era. The reason why this repeats throughout history is because every time tries to have a conscience convo either trying to properly educate or to fix issues politicians, companies and media finds a new excuse to distract from having the convo. What you are asking for is a goal post that is always moving
From a marketing perspective, changing the name would work, but if the product is the same and the customer genuinely doesn't like it, then a new coat of paint just kicks the can down the road. Sometimes you just have to scrap a product idea and make something else.
Wouldn’t we still be screwed then regardless if we change how its said because all of those powers you mentioned that are unaligned with the cause, will still find excuses anyways ? It’s like a doomed if you do or don’t scenario
The issue is actually FD shifted the goalposts. The reason so many seem to disagree on what racism even means is because academics in fear of having funding lessened and their jobs become obsolete, redefined the term to be as nebulous as it is banal.

I agree with like 89.9% of what Kamal says. Im a day 2 sub. However, smugness isn’t an argument and also it feels weird as hell. If you walked into a chemistry classroom and the professor started teaching chemistry confidently and using words that a chemistry professor would use-it seems weird as hell to tell that person they’re being smug and that they need to deflate their ego. If you work a 9-5, just understand that this 40 year old man did a 9-5 for like 6 years just about the academic study of racism and its implications etc etc. I feel like there should be a base level of respect for someone who has actually hit the books and at least tried to understand these systems and their consequences. Of course it’s appropriate to disagree with opinions, disagree with personal flavor, disagree with premises, but it feels incredibly weird to enter into a conversation with someone who has legitimately studied something and not try to learn their perspective without calling them smug every few seconds. It may have just been the alcohol or setting, but yeah. Id really love to see Kamal blow the fuck up, and I think level-headed black folks are very needed in the “moderate” YT space. But the literal whining about smugness is a weird look. Also socially it makes sense that Kamal wouldn’t get along with FD they’d never be friends in real life. One is a father with multiple college degrees and the other is one of the best up and coming entertainment TH-camrs in the game. Not saying they couldn’t, but like if someone has never seen a football game it makes sense they might not find many friends at the Super Bowl convention.
@@jordanthompson8268 no that’s a conclusion. The argument would be why the confidence is unwarranted. The conclusion is that if it is unwarranted, then you’re smug. Step ur game up lil bro
@upd0g1 I agree with you that Kamal should have came in better with an open mind, willing to learn multiple perspectives. Especially someone with as many credentials as FD. I guess the question is not necessarily if the confidence is warranted or not (in my opinion it is), but more if the “smugness” is effective for communication. Also being smug isn’t necessarily always a 1:1 with self confidence, nor is it necessarily an example of positive confidence. It is possible to achieve the accomplishments that FD has achieved, without developing a potential superior complex. Maybe in a different context such as combat sports but not TH-cam essays/debates.
@@chibu3212 that’s fine but the weirdness is what does Kamal have to do with the effectiveness of FD’s communication? Kamal’s position isn’t “I agree with you and want you to be successful, so your smugness needs to change to get the word out better” Kamal’s position is “wow. You are so smug.” Which in my mind is similar to that chemistry lecture situation. You go to the professor and say some shit like “you would be a more effective teacher if you weren’t so smug” For the professor to say anything less than “go sit down and take notes or get gone” is just professionalism or patience on the professor’s part. This being a TH-cam stream with someone calling in, obviously the context is different. But for there to be zero acknowledgement or even awareness from Kamal just makes him kinda look like an uneducated teenager with no arguments saying “wowwwww ur sooo weird dude you gotta chill lmfaooo I’m dead 💀 sheeeesh”

Like he thinks that player he mentioned is being under paid for what he's worth but I don't know if his contract has other benefits in place of the missing money. There's a lot of questions he leaves on the table and it's worrisome.
This is my third video of yours. (I subscribed about halfway through the first one) Great work man. When you can make valid points AND be funny/make people laugh, it's always a good device because the humor often serves to lessen the tension that usually arises anytime Religion or Politics get brought up. I'm not familiar with FDSignifier (outside of this engagement and the video you made on him and Umar which led to it) but I think he seems sincere and I understand why he draws many of the conclusions he draws. I think if more political and socioculturally oriented conversations were had like THIS, that the world would be much better than it currently is in many respects. But unfortunately most who watch such content seek to confirm their own preconceived biases and/or quite honestly just want "blood" (metaphorically speaking.). They just like to see people argue or scream over one another while spouting the same wearied out slogans and Bandwagon Buzzwords that might be mildly entertaining, but don't really lead to much growth for any party (or the audience) concerned. I'm not a formally educated person. I work various construction jobs, mostly landscaping this time of year. 10 hr days with a weedeater, but I do like reading when i can, and read voraciously as a younger man. (yeah, I'm pretty "old" my teen nephew and daughter in her 20's informs me.) So I've read many of the same authors FD mentioned and admire many of them. Especially Dubois and Langston Hughes. And I have to say that it CAN be good advice, his encouraging you to read more when you can if for no other reason than to expand your knowledge base concerning many of the topics you already seem naturally inquisitive and downright brilliant about. I think you have the kind of MIND that books would serve well, because you are a critical thinker man, and critical thinking is one of the most important yet sorely LACKING qualities for most people in modern society in my opinion. I was surprised somewhat (when pressed to mention an instance of Socialism that worked in a society) that FD didn't mention Jacobo Arbenz as at least a possibility. Because in many respects it could be argued that he fit that bill, or WOULD have, had he been allowed to continue leading his people. (he was a democratically elected leader the CIA and american government had deposed by riling up certain members of his own people against him, in order to put in a Puppet who ended up leading the country further to hell in a handbasket. If you're already familiar with Arbenz please forgive the rehash.) Also, forgive the near-essay length of this comment but to be fair it was a 2+ HR video and I did watch it to the end. Books I think you might like if you've not already read Them are : Marshal McCluhan: The Mechanical Bride (and virtually anything he wrote if his ideas resonate with you) Edward Bernays Propaganda and Crystalizing Public Opinion, Walter Lippmann: Public Opinion and The Phantom Public. Anything W.E>B. DuBois, Langston Hughes, James Baldwin (Go Tell it on The Mountain was amazing.) But if you're too busy or honestly just not interested I get that too and maybe...Sparksnotes or youtube videos on them. I realize everyone has different capacities for learning and whether you're watching/listening or reading, if you're learning you're learning. It's all valid. I don't (or try not to) have any real firm political orientation. I grew up small towns throughout the South (Tennessee.) and most of the people here are republican types or just completely disenfranchised by it all due to the lack of sincerity and fakeness present on all sides of the spectrum. Yes, unfortunately racism is a huge problem here in my own little area, but there has been improvements, a lot of them I think, and progress is being made. But that's a subject I won't even get into because I've already yapped for 6 paragraphs and have to get to work. Still (if you read this) again, GREAT content man. I think you're doing just fine and i HOPE you go on to make those movies you mentioned making. I write some when I can. (comic book ideas, poetry, essays, articles, short fiction and a few novels in various stages of completion I go back and forth with.) I think they would be worth watching. Just be careful too. Many Modern Creators seem to have a tendency of Burning out before they really start Burning you know. If you get paid doing something youre truly passionate about you will never really Work a day in your life, you'll just be getting paid to pursue your passion. Try not to let it become too much of a JOB later buddy. JSH
It's nice to have a debate/"confrotation" that doesn't devolve into shouting at each other and flows like a sane conversation between two people with different world views that discuss them. Really enjoyed the conversation and it felt more like two acquaintainces/buddies rambling on a podcast episode ❤ ...except the point from Khamal about FD being "obviously" smug, I don't even know what bro was yapping about 💀
i can't tell if he's being sarcastic when Kahmal says 'my grandparents are republicans' and fds is like 'NO!' dude prior to the 50s/60s the majority of African Americans were Republicans in an unbroken historic line all the way back to the 15th amendment. probably because Republicans lead the emancipation movement and democrats were the power structure of former confederates and oh yeah the birthplace of the klan.
He basically puts a period at the end of every far leftist larper when it comes to race. It sounds better hearing white savior talking points from a black guy. He's not even that eloquent with his points.
Kahmal has brought this up, but his scripted videos really are insightful. Specially if he’s doing a retrospective on someone, he really gave me personally many hours of entertainment, even tho I knew I disagreed with him politically. It was as soon as I started getting into his live content on his B Sides channel that I started thinking he’s goofy due to the vitriolic way in which he addressed others. It was giving Hasan Piker, which is why it didn’t surprise me that they break bread (no pun intended).
He makes decent content when it isnt about how horrible us white people are. He genuinely opened my eyes to a lot of very real issues in the black community. But that said i dont watch his stuff much anymore because it does come off as preachy and pessimistic after a while. I can only take being told Im the cause of all the problems on earth while also having no power to do anything about them so many times before it just gets dpressing. His vids dissecting culture and such are great though. He doesnt ONLY do political stuff.
@@morezombies9685 Summed up how I feel about him, pretty informative when he isn't getting bogged down in racist ideas about skin-color based guilt/responsibility/rights. The only problem with his stuff is that he's such a huge bigot.
I dont see him being smarmy tbh. I think FD signifier comes off as very wise in his scripted videos, but he really does come off as condescending in this convo, not really smug. I think he does it unintentionally, I don’t think he thinks people are beneath him. But I definitely see why people think he is condescending.
Kahmal is "smug" to highlight his sarcasm and "comedy" but also his "neutrality" on some takes. If you've ever watched an FD video, it's hard to sit through (for me) because not only is he smug, Kahmal was right in saying he's pretentious. Him talking to another human being makes him come across a bit better since he can't assume he's educating and enlightening Kahmal. I've watched his Lauryn Hill, Black Wrestling History, and a few other long videos from him, and it was very hard to make it to the end- especially when you actually know about the subjects he's discussing.
The portion of the live where black women dying during childbirth was being discussed really made me angry. Not because of what you guys were saying but because the chat was filled with dismissive and hateful remarks on the subject. So many people are so quick to dismiss the pain (and in this case, death) of black women as if they’re subhuman. It’s only a Google search away. Look it up. Saying “doctors and nurses don’t have time to be racist” is such a smooth brained take. Hate never “doesn’t have time” to show it’s ugly face. The ignorance and vitriol on display in the chat during this discussion is sickening.
This is the first time I'm hearing of black women dying more often in childbirth. I wonder what the fine details are? I know that a lot of black women have poor diets and probably don't engage in prenatal exercise (probably due to work or not having the money for it) but a higher morality rate than the average? Hm. My cousin did get very sick at the tail end of her pregnancy but as mentioned, she has a very poor diet, she works and runs around all the time. Hell her daughter is obese and painfully neglected...
That's bc black people cant have any struggle different from others to these people. And when we complain that things ain't right we're lazy slouchers who don't want to work. Honestly I've only seen one video from this guy and I liked it, but once I saw FD be compared to Umar I knew he wasn't it. And therefore the audience he's garnered wouldn't be it. I'm curious what FD demographical analytics are compared to this dude.
I’m a neuro, I don’t deliver babies, but I can confirm that in general, African Americans have more negative healthcare outcomes associated with obesity, nutritional deficiencies & other lifestyle factors including drug use & environmental exposure to toxins. Much of this relates to poverty (for example, you’re exposed to secondhand smoke & other toxins in low-income housing) and equalizes when we adjust for income. Meaning, impoverished people of all backgrounds have similar issues. However, there are some genetic factors for example with heart disease. I’m Latino and it affects our men, too. You just cannot blame doctors or systemic issues for every negative healthcare outcome. If you want maximize your outcomes- eat well, exercise, reduce stress, & get frequent checkups.
I think both of you had a very engaging conversation and seem to agree on a lot of what you discussed. Props to both of you to engage each other in good faith. Much appreciated, especially on this platform.
I don’t think the problem with CRT is saying that all people are racist. The problem is that, when it’s applied, most say that black people can’t be racist. If CRT stated that everyone regardless of skin color holds biases/stereotypes toward other human beings, most reasonable people would immediately be on board.
Because Racism is an issue of Power. Can individual Black People Do Racist or Prejudice things? Yes but on the whole Racism is Structural. And that fucks over white people too
This kid is just proudly undereducated and is upset that someone has read so much more than him and knows his subjects. Its not bein smug its called bein confident bc you know somethin well after puttin in the work to gain information like readin. Kid says he reads, very likely an uncritcal popcorn consumer
Turkey Tom not being creative when he creates some of the most in depth documentaries about drama and lolcows to exist while still being entertaining af. Yea obviously Mr FD hasn’t seen a single video of his lmao
Its crazy how I almost missed this stream, this is probably the first time I’ve ever seen FD get out of his echo chamber and talk to someone who disagrees with him without calling that person an Uncle Tom This was an actual productive conversation, I also think this conversation highlights a lot of problems with online leftist. It’s like they live in they’re own little bubble and read marxist theory and preaches online about the problems with the systems (which I agree with) but they think that’s gonna do anything, they sit on their pile of money and preach about the evils capitalism while demonizing and looking down on those who actually go out and gets stuff done and help improve society in any way (small or big) People like FD only want to convert people to his ideology because it fits his idea of what society should be like but the problem is people (especially black people) disagree with him about that society and that hurts his inflated ego. This reminds me of when WillyMac debated Hasan (although less screaming) because both FD and Hasan are so political brained that they can’t handle a normal person who’s not 100% align with them disagreeing with them. Kahmal and WillyMac both kinda represent like 80% of people in the US, just normal people who aren’t so much into politics. They don’t see things from a “left or right” perspective they see things from a common sense perspective, I think that’s why people like Hasan and FD get more annoyed with you then any right winger or conservative because they can’t write you both off as crazy right wingers or “Chuds” because you’re not and that forces them to realize just how stupid they sound because if normal people like Kahmal and WillyMac don’t like them and their policies then how are they gonna convince the normal person to join their cause?
Most people HATE the system we’re in due to its flaws constantly being exploited by people who care nothing for our wellbeing. The fact that the side who says “the system is flawed” the most doesn’t get more traction says something about their messaging.

I disagree with Turkey Tom not being political. He claims to be apolitical but you can tell where his politics are based on what he says and who he associates with (like Sam Hyde).
He does respect the pronouns of any trans person he talks to, which I don't think is something Sam Hyde would do, so I think Turkey Tom is just lazy. He doesn't vote because why goon at the ballot box when you can read the latest tweet.

Ugh I hate his smugness so much. His audience literally agree with everything he says, and he's telling Kahmal to be careful about the audience he's attracting. The audacity to do such when you're talking about burning down a system to a bunch of white far left tankies who are your main supporters. Meanwhile Kahmal has a very diverse audience. The guy is so full of himself it's unreal.
i never thought of FD's tone of speech as condescending or smug i mean to each their own, but i always thought he sounded like a teacher and he makes things easier for me to understand
I feel like there’s a huge moment at 1:09:13 that isn’t addressed. Septic was 100% having a conversation with someone about complete segregation. That kinda shows the people in the circle they keep. Segregation is an option for them. No one brought up segregation. Then septic does and fumbles on why he even brought it up. Then He mutes him and they move on without questioning that.Is it not weird he was talking about it?
This is a debate between someone who is educated on systemic issues and someone who lives within the status quo. Disagreeing doesn’t equal being smug. Disagreeing also doesn’t make you correct. “Victim mentality” has always been a racist rhetoric to shame disenfranchised groups. Definitely comes off like many of y’all are mad bc you’re not educated
This is really more like a debate between someone who is a realist and someone who insists on pursuing an untenable goal. Kahmal's point of view is entirely based on what has already been demonstrated. At some point the systematic racism rhetoric encourages division because one side wants to fight because they are convinced that they are victims of literally everything and the other side wants to fight because to accept these accusations would basically be condemning yourself as an immoral and destructive member of society. An actual, dyed in the wool racist cannot be "educated" on how to treat other races with dignity and respect, but you can nag the rest of the populace into resenting everything you say regardless of whether it's valid. FD talks so much about being a teacher, but good teachers don't nag, and hammering the CRT issue is nagging as it's being applied to people who are already making a concerted effort to not be racist.
Having a college degree doesn't bar anyone from criticism. This mindset of "You're all uneducated and need to just trust me even when my ideas don't sound good," is part of what turns people away especially when we hear about academic scandals involving campus research. You can have systemic racism _and_ victim mentality be a problem. The two can coexist and even feed into each other.
@@hope-cat4894 that’s not the mindset either. The mindset is “I (or whoever) have studied this extensively on the academic and informal levels and therefore can speak on these issues from that perspective.” No one is telling ppl to believe everything they hear bc someone has a degree. But we’re not going to act like degrees aren’t a validating attribute to any knowledge base. You’re not going to tell your surgeon you’re skeptical of his knowledge bc “academic scandals” exist. And no. Hardly any ppl of disenfranchised groups are running around feeling sorry for themselves and claiming victimhood as the “victim mentality” rhetoric would suggest. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t victims of and to a biased system.
@@MJWCBW I mean, the difference is that surgeons actually do their job. There are visible results. Most of people who read critical race theory seem to just be frustrated and go after people for bullshit. Did any of that actually help any racial problems? It just seems to spread more hatred and discontent.
I think I finally understand what’s happening here. An articulate guy that makes a certain demographic feel comfortable, but making them feel at ease with their anti intellectual/critically thinking frame of mind. Listening to this the biggest takeaways are, “you make me feel bad because I dont understand certain things.” & “i need to tone police because I don’t feel comfortable with the conversation”. It took me awhile to really appreciate this conversation
I love the fact that you guys can sit down and have a conversation. I agree with both of you guys in between each argument, and the fact that discourse is still possible shows that we still have room as a community to grow. W video man love both of y'all!
90 minutes in as a black man i couldn't take it anymore. It almost like FD is surprised that someone as interesting and rational as Kahmal, disagrees with him. This man has spent too much time in the beeswax and cocoa butter intersectional marxist echo chamber.
The funny thing is Kahmal doesn’t even properly disagree with FD. There is no particular point in the video did he bring up a counter to whatever FD said, it was all about how he says it. He was complaining about the football video and doesn’t even know how football contracts work. If you’re going to engage then do it properly.
Kahmal - 'You're known to be a little smug'
FD - 'I'm Batman'
Okay that's actual funny

The projection is wild, here’s what I saw for this entire video. FD, a man patiently explaining to a smug intentionally illiterate child why he makes content. Most liberals, right wingers, libertarians and centrists are genuine.

You've just described 99% of leftwingers/Breadtubers. Candace and Rubins actually have conversations with people of all political isles while leftwingers like Hasan, Noah, Vaush, FD etc. almost never want to debate because they'll be incredibly bad faith like what we've seen here.
FD Signifier has a massive ego. He sounds like a champagne socialist half of the time.
I must correct you, "champagne socialists" are normal socialists. Nearly all leaders of this movement come from bourgeoisie or higher class backgrounds. All of them are "highly educated." FD is just a black Trotsky without the clout needed for an October Revolution.

Even at the start, this diss towards debating was just, ahh wtf
Idk if he understands the importance of debate in politics, even if it was only for entertainment, which it isnt, since the audience can be exposed to great arguments, and to another perspective, as well as the fact that that will prepair them for conversations in the real world whare they would need to use rethoric in order to be persuaisive.
I like his content, but he seems to hit a brick wall when it comes to beeing more wholistic abour politics ( which i know not everyone is up to the task, its cirtainly not easy, but it is a necessary skill in politics)
The ego, i think is a part of this kind of leftists predjudice for anything that isnt left, and that is that he seems to think that people just knharently have a double meaning when they say something, that people are trying to conceal racism or sexism and so on.
And again, i tend to aguree with most of what FD says in hisown videos, but then there are thease wierd moments whare he just lacks self awareness 😂
Anyway, have a nice day

Noah Samsen jumping through unfathomable mental hoops to defend a misguided flagging campaign because muh politics is another great example. he literally could have just tried to justify what Illy did and say she had every right to flag the dude's video, but instead he tried the weaselly little liar dude approach of um acktuallying everything for like an hour.

@@theGhost349 It's a backtrack on the Ethos argument, you're leveraging your supposed experience to make the other person's point seem weaker in comparison simply because they don't share that experience. Applied like this, it's always so annoying.
Usually it means this:

I can wager the overwhelming majority of FD's friends are white, that's who he will surround himself with.

Smugness is an argument. Calling someone smug is saying they have unwarranted self-importance.
@@jordanthompson8268 no that’s a conclusion. The argument would be why the confidence is unwarranted. The conclusion is that if it is unwarranted, then you’re smug.

Kamal’s position isn’t “I agree with you and want you to be successful, so your smugness needs to change to get the word out better”
Kamal’s position is “wow. You are so smug.”
Which in my mind is similar to that chemistry lecture situation. You go to the professor and say some shit like “you would be a more effective teacher if you weren’t so smug”
For the professor to say anything less than “go sit down and take notes or get gone” is just professionalism or patience on the professor’s part.

It's nice to have a debate/"confrotation" that doesn't devolve into shouting at each other and flows like a sane conversation between two people with different world views that discuss them. Really enjoyed the conversation and it felt more like two acquaintainces/buddies rambling on a podcast episode ❤
...except the point from Khamal about FD being "obviously" smug, I don't even know what bro was yapping about 💀
i can't tell if he's being sarcastic when Kahmal says 'my grandparents are republicans' and fds is like 'NO!'
dude prior to the 50s/60s the majority of African Americans were Republicans in an unbroken historic line all the way back to the 15th amendment. probably because Republicans lead the emancipation movement and democrats were the power structure of former confederates and oh yeah the birthplace of the klan.
That Flash Villan analogy was actually halarious 🤣
It's wild that people like FDS have any kind of attention online

I think he does it unintentionally, I don’t think he thinks people are beneath him. But I definitely see why people think he is condescending.

as a fan of FDs I really disagree
He is but they both have egos for sure.
@@OdaSwifteye You pretty much hit the nail on the head as to why it's the case.
The cause of this phenomenon is not reeecist doctors.

Its crazy how I almost missed this stream, this is probably the first time I’ve ever seen FD get out of his echo chamber and talk to someone who disagrees with him without calling that person an Uncle Tom
This was an actual productive conversation, I also think this conversation highlights a lot of problems with online leftist.
It’s like they live in they’re own little bubble and read marxist theory and preaches online about the problems with the systems (which I agree with) but they think that’s gonna do anything, they sit on their pile of money and preach about the evils capitalism while demonizing and looking down on those who actually go out and gets stuff done and help improve society in any way (small or big)
People like FD only want to convert people to his ideology because it fits his idea of what society should be like but the problem is people (especially black people) disagree with him about that society and that hurts his inflated ego.

Y’all coming for FD on educating people on systemic issues is wild. Ya’ll trippin!
The irony of a leftist claimingthat other people aren't educated.
