Ok, let’s help a bit with the language. Spanish is much easier than English or French because every letter is pronounced and every letter is always pronounced the same -- always. The letter “E” is pronounced “E” for Egg always, always, always. So with the word “Montes” you should see that the E has to be pronounced and has to be pronounced E for egg. The same applies to Tomate; that last letter has to be pronounced and always sounds like E for egg. This should also explain how to pronounce Col de RatEs.
Perfect Francis travelog formula: Mix of: Chris | James | Lawrence Music: antihistamine induced mumblings over a breakbeat Weather: Damn hot and sunny Food: some kind of bread based, tomato and cheese cafe affair. Riding: Long, smooth tarmac descents. So wish I was on holiday. Keep 'em coming!
Gosh I miss Malaga unfortunately, I wasn't much into cycling when I lived there. Any chance you can share the route for that day? Btw, those bathroom taps, usually are behind/under the sinks to control the amount of fresh/hot water that comes out on the sink. Those ones, though, are in the middle of the wall, so they could be linked to the shower or the sink, who knows? 🤷♂️
shut off valves for water supply to sinks/shower etc...nice accessible/obvious place not buried in the back of a cupboard or wall like we tend to do in the uk...likely also have a floor drain which is also so obvious but we never really do in the uk ( dont even talk about carpet in bathrooms in the uk...) PS jealous of that new road..
😂 Can we please have a whole episode of Chris doing Francis? Hold on.... that sounds sketchy.... Chris impersonating Francis... is obviously what I mean 😏
I can certainly vouch for the aggressive speed bumps, I sit here recovering from a fractured elbow and broken shoulder after hitting a speed bump at 50km/h in Murcia region. Sure I wasn't paying so much attention (looking at the sat nav at the time) but it was a high price to pay. Loving the videos, making me long to be back there. Enjoy your ride guys ❤
Brilliant impersonation by Chris🤣. Good route choice roads looked mega and nobody else on them. When I was in Portugal same thing no restaurants open till at least eight o'clock even the one the hotel.
Hey, I live here! You guys went through my neighbourhood as you headed for Montes de Malaga. It’s a beautiful trip you’re taking. I really enjoy your videos.
hey i ride there a lot. based in torre del mar, probably ridden most roads between velez and malaga. Would highly recommend the area. the viñuela valley/dam is gorgeous
*This* is what I imagine a cycling vacation should be. I'm glad you're enjoying yourselves. And yes the restaurant hours in that culture are a drag to us foreigners.
What a grand day out chaps, mint roads, quiet and spectacular route👏so right on the local cafes: definitely support them, it's part of euro cycle culture 👏Bet your missing the UK's storms Dudley and Eunice? ......erm not me thinks!
@@Cade_Media ok I confess an interest. But I suspect many folk just wonder how the heck you turn them out daily from the road. Almost everyone shoots photos and videos of their rides and they know how hard it is to put something together. That said, you know your audience!
Francis, this trip videos are very interesting. You with foil, race geometry,, and your friend with a Caledonia 5, an endurance bike. So, the inevitable question, is there an endurance geometry? Or is it more more important to get some assistance from a good fitter to select the right geometry for you? The one you will feel more comfortable, even if it is a “performance” bike. Enjoy your trip.
Yes it's whatever bike fits that's important. I'm quite suited to a race bike, but very lucky to be light, flexible and ride quite a lot! most consumers will be suited to a more relaxed geo
@@Cade_Media in your case is even more humiliating for normal people like me, since you do not use any spacers below the stem. I also have a foil and love it, but she does have some spacers. Kkkkk
Well this is just not fair, were currently in the middle of 2 named storms here in the UK - red weather warning issued for tomorrow (!) and this looks pure bliss 😎
I'd venture to say that the taps on the wall used to feed a bidet that is no longer there. Just a guess. As for your pronunciation, given that Spanish is my native tongue, just do you. There is a charm in the way you both butcher Spanish, because you can sense that you two really care, that you're trying and that is wonderful onto itself.
Why I need a Garmin 830, cause then I can give it to my dad who just bought a roadbike in the age of 64! Then he not only can track his rides but also my mom feels more save with the crash detection function of the Garmin edge series 😇
💚🤍💚🤍💚 Guys I want you to stay there forever reporting all the time and so bringing me so many memories. And your Spanish oh lala bocadillo masters Envy you so much
Nice try on the pronunciation of the town, this time TH-cam's subtitles went for " a lao chin alasin " which sounds more chinese then spanish to me but hey good try nonetheless ! :) enjoying the videos
I was wondering why I've never noticed it before today. Turns out I've either been in Calpe self catering or been in big enough cities where everything is usually open
Best intro ever lmao
You guys rock ! I love the way you see, understand and appreciate my country ! Bocadillo bocadillo!!!!

How is “ alow chin” spelt ? (The town he ends up in). Is it Alhaurin el Grande?
3:44 best Vistas of the trip so far, mountains, snakey road, grade A+++++ tarmac, blue skies, wispy clouds, and not a trace of ratrace to be seen! 😍

Just found your videos and have now been through the entire Aud trip and halfway through the Vietnam trip! Makes me want to bikepack
I always enjoy videos with you James and the dog, but Chris is quickly rising up the leader board of who I want to see most in your videos.
It's great to see the Walrus again
😘🥰
I second that opinion David V > Chris should be some kind of "Spirit Animal"...named Chris
(Haha)

I look forward to the part of these trips when Chris decides to dip his toes into the pool of Madness. Have a nice swim, amigo!
Cycling basically this exact route in May so this is very exciting to watch 👍🏻
Happy Chris makes me happy.
😃
Did that climb out of Malaga on Christmas Day 2016 one of my best Christmas days ever ❤️ 😀
😂 Can we please have a whole episode of Chris doing Francis? Hold on.... that sounds sketchy.... Chris impersonating Francis... is obviously what I mean 😏
Sorry if I’ve missed it but any chance you can do a summary of Chris’ bike set up? Cheers
Singing happy birthday to keep yourself motivated on a climb. I sing Christmas songs on flat roads for my motivation.
The tapes are just isolation tapes so you only have to turn those off to work on the plumbing in that room

What the heck are those pixel glasses?
You can burp your tire off the rim. More of an mtb thing but definitely happens. Another great vid. Thanks

Wow ,I'm too jealous, superb video. you're lucky, beautiful landscape. have a good trip
Amazing views and captures perfectly on film. Chapeau.
Rode through Hammersmith and Brentford today - not sure we could have had more different days on the bike 😅
Thanks Francis for making me feel in holidays

Chris and Francis sound very funny in Spanish, but a lot of respect there, and that's the magic
Intro claimed chicken nugget talk but there was no chicken nugget talk
I’m sorry 😣
0:25 you nailed it!
I'm sure its been mentioned but what length cranks are you guys running? Thanks
Cafe FTW - YES! Excellent video.
I’m here for the chicken nuggets. Thanks Chris!

Basically the entire east coast of Spain is a giant cycling wonderland. Maybe even the entire country really.
Would be cool if you shared all of your rides on komoot!
Hey buddy,
Are you using the microphone on the go pro without any mods?
yep
@@Cade_Media Impressive quality!
Noooo, I wanted to see that gravel climb :(

Thanks Francis....yeah , meal time in many European countries take getting used to . That looked awesome, mate ! Peace
And. CCR eh? Huge fan
Did you like the water fountains on the side of the road from the hotel?
All of the ones we've found aren't working
Looks like a beautiful day. Red weather warning ⚠ in Wales, 100mph winds tomorrow 😮
😱
Pop up no beard
How many more watts do you have to contribute versus Chris due to the extra bags? Is having it balanced with 3 better than both of you carring two?
Haven't actually compared, but it's definitely harder on the steep stuff. Will have a look tomorrow!

Surely you've been to Spain enough times by now to realise that they eat late and there's generally nothing open mid afternoon to early night.
I was wondering why I've never noticed it before today.

Montes, pronounced as it looks (Mon tes) is correct.
