They never will, giving voice to the doctor was difficult enough since they wanted the doctor to seem genderless, giving them a voice for the anime was obligatory since you can’t do an anime with speech bubbles where the protagonist chooses from. Outside from the anime, giving them an in game voice is pretty much useless.

Do people really forget that the doctor is literally a y/n kind of character with no specied gender so it can fit the player's narrative? Of course they would have an androgynous voice actor or at least someone that can somewhat pass for both a girl and a guy

Until I heard this voice, I was like "Dang, this dude must hate showing his face or something, cause I've never seen his face", now it's just like "damn, so we got 14 y/o number 1 graduate from the local middle-school. There's not much specificity to his characteristics (I'm just calling him a _him_ due to my headcanon), but I thought he'd be pretty tall and with that heavy jacket he's wearing, he looks to have enough physical capabilities. If it was a girl, I expected the voice to sound similar to Saria's and for a dude, he'd have a voice similar to Matterhorn's, but with an exhausted/humorous tone added in
For me I think they have to choose if doctor should be male or female in the anime so they can think more of other important stuffs than this. It’s seems complicated. Or they should’ve made the Doctor a mute instead so there would be no issue.

You would expect a commander that went through a lot of shit to have aged and tired voice. Instead we get a typical harem anime main character. Imo, they should have added a robotic effect to voice or so, like a voice changing device effect. This would add more detail to the Doctor's secretive identity.

Just pick a fricking headcanon for the anime and go with it, your goals should be to make the Doc an interesting persona to draw people in, not to make him/her a blank page that adds literally nothing to the experience by existing just so we can insert ourselves into him/her. Sorry but I don't find the prospect of inserting myself into the most bland character known to existance interesting or fun at all. He rivals the blandless of the female lead of Twilight.

Doctor is gender neutral in canon and I'm glad HG is putting their foot down about it instead of succumbing to making the protag a man to appeal to the male audience which is usually the norm

Hope, if they have to voice him, we can get some sort of menu that you choose form at the very start, like when you pick your name.
