There were protests when they opened one near my parents home in Arlington, TX. The concern was that high school girls would work there. Nevermind that 20 minutes away there were a dozen strip clubs also recruiting young girls.
The one on Collins in Arlington was the BEST back in the day . I’m talking like 1990 . Went in this year for nostalgia sake - Food quality horrible , and understaffed , and not that it’s about the $ , but WAY overpriced .

I went to Hooters once. I don't eat at McDonald's. I don't go to strip clubs. Eating at McDonald's and then going to a strip club would have been much much better.
When I lived in Shanghai China a Hooters opened and so me and my Chinese wife went to check it out. I asked my wife what did the Chinese text say in the sign and menus. She said "The American Owl Restaurant" and laughed because she knew what "Hooters" meant. So we asked the Chinese Hooters greeters what "Hooters" meant. They said "The American Owl Restaurant". My wife then explained that is NOT what it means...the look of astonishment of the Chinese Hooters Girls was epic especially when we saw one rush to tell the others - like a domino effect. 😆🤣
Hooter is fantastic. Buffalo wings and shrimp is the best. In your video you brought up tilted kilt, that restaurant and hooter are 2 of the friendliest places I've been in. Great sports bar/restaurant the hooter girls are a bonus, always having a positive attitude and friendly.
My cousin was a hooters girl. She loved it at first, but ended up hating it. Almost entirely because of the managers, rather than the guests. Guests sucked too, but not much more than any other retail/service job.

I feel like that's true for most jobs. People don't understand how that everything could be so much better. According to some documentaries most of us shouldn't need to put in more then hours a week. Things are messed up by design. Planned obsolescence, employees ordered to destroy items that don't sell, wasting 40% of all food, all to create scarcity and all for the sake of greed. From health to wealth, it's all about keeping us down and keeping us sick, addicted, and ignorant.
i always thought one of the bigger contributing factors to the downfall of Hooters was the episode of Undercover Boss. where that one manager makes girls eat beans off a plate without their hands so they can go home
Part of their downfall was the competition. I'm from the Clearwater area where they started and have been here for over 40 years. There's a guy named Crawford Kerr who started the Winghouse. The stores were more open and better lit with windows, the girls had slightly better uniforms and they also had games for adults and kids and the biggest of all was he served alcohol where Hooters was beer and wine only. In the 2000's Hooters tried to sue him for copyright infringement because the Hooters franchisee's were not pleased that Winghouses were opening right next to many Hooters and killing their business. Well, long story but Hooters not only lost the lawsuit but Crawford was awarded the 1.2 million.
I stopped going to the Hooters in DTLA after my favorite waitress quit. The other waitresses would only cater to well dressed business type men believing they would give them a higher tip. I started to tip this one sweet waitress who was more of a geek and very smart lady (She and I would talk Greek history, Anthropology, and Cultural Anthropology til my food got cold.) She wasn't like the "instagram model" types that would turn their noses up at guys that were casually dressed and didnt look like a stock broker. When the other girls found out that I was giving her $30 tips, all of a sudden, they tried to give me service. In fact, one actually tried to take over the nice girls area for a chance to get the $30 tips by flirting with me, didnt work. When Id ask for the nice waitress shed say "She wasnt in today" even though I could see here clearly on the other side of the dining room! lol! One day I came in for lunch and the manager handed me a note from the nice waitress informing me she had quit her job to work as a Library Technician, her dream job. Havnt been back to hooters since.

I worked at Hooters, it wasn’t that bad! I actually had a lot of fun! The tights or the outfit didn’t bother me at all! The hula hoops were actually fun! We used them all the time when we were bored! If you complain that you don’t like the outfit blah blah blah, don’t go or work there! I had a blast! P.S. I actually cheered in the NFL and was in an NFL calendar after my time at Hooter’s so!
My favorite place once had large butterfly wings at their establishment and all the waitresses wanted to try them on and parade around in them. I saw that and told someone, "That right there is the difference between men and women. A woman can wear butterfly wings and look so feminine and beautiful. A man would just look stupid."

My brother was Bob Brooks. Needless to say, I loved the restaurant. My brother passed away in 2006 and because of the size of his estate, his estate took over 10 years to settle. Hence, all of the sports marketing businesses he built, went away and Hooters was sold. He was a great business man and made Hooters what it was in its heyday. Still has the best wings anywhere, bar none!
I don't know about that. Best wings? I lived in Toronto for many years. Lots of places with great wings there, and Buffalo, famous for its wings, is not that far away.
While attending school in Boston, I had 45 minutes to kill before catching my train back home. There are more than a dozen bars in the area around North Station, with roughly similar prices, but most could not care less if you died of thirst while waiting for service. At Hooters, though, the service was almost instantaneous on arrival. Snappy service, when minutes count, is what kept me going back.

So, the savvy choose Hooters. These girls hustle, they don't linger anywhere, and you can watch either them, or sports on the many big screens, and still get your drink on.

The Hooters in Ocean City MD is still open; when my family went in the off season we took our dogs and sat in the outside patio, and the servers always made it a point to bring water and treats to our dachshunds, especially Willie who was in a wheelchair
From what I understand, a lot of Hooters girls developed anxiety and depression from management and rarely from customers. They had an incredibly bad habit in the aughts of hiring "men who understood men" at the top and that trickling down into these super toxic guys that treated the waitresses like they were depreciating assets. The waitresses knew that their looks are what got them into the job and made them tips, but management crossed the line into constant threats of them losing their jobs, coercing them into lewd acts, and overall just not treating them like humans. Service workers deal with this sort of stuff commonly, but Hooters waitresses got a special dose of it. As far as I know, there was a big higher up change to fix it, but it's not evenly applied. Also, I'd bet pretty easily that "the problems came from customers"-problem was a Hooters-originated claim.
I love how people are fine with exploring and talking about girls who worked in such an environment, they even criticize it and say it’s really toxic. Yet no one is ready to talk about how bad is actual prostitution which is way worse than a hooters waitress as a job, and the mental problems it inflicts on the people who work in such jobs.
That makes more sense. Most of the Hooters places I've been to, the managers have always been conservatively dressed middle aged women. And more than a couple of times I've seen them go to tables and tell them to keep their hands off to themselves.
Love Hooters food! Was so glad they opened one near me in 2016 (Gurnee, IL). The location was doing great, until COVID hit in 2020. They closed from March until September (even though most places opened up that summer in some capacity). They then opened up for 2 months before announcing that they were closing for good. Now the nearest one is about an hour away. Miss their wings!
To be honest, I worked in the restaurant business for 11 years ( 5 of them at Hooters) it really wasn't all that different than any other serving/bartender gig other than you got WAY BETTER tips. Also concerning the Hooters girls having anxiety and being depressed...I think that's anyone that works in the restaurant business 🤷♀️ Oh and also the food is AMAZING 👏

I knew someone who was a waitress at Hooters during college. She made a lot of money in tips, but quit after one man sexually assaulted her. The man assumed that the place was offering sexual services on the side.
I loved Hooter's and I wish they still had a restaurant near me. The San Diego Hooters girls mailed me out their annual calendar to Iraq, which a few of them were in, and sent me personalized well wishes and autographs. I miss them, and hope they're all doing well. Love you girls.

I don't know if it's there anymore, but there was one that I went to a few times in Ontario, CA. It was located inside the Ontario Mills Shopping Center (Mall). A video on that chain would be interesting.
My first experience of Hooters was in Taipei in 2000 or 2001, it was close to my office and I liked the burgers. However in Taipei hooters was always a family restaurant, filled with locals and their children. The entertainment was mainly focused on a hoola hoop competitions by the waitresses.

When it comes to the hotel that Hooters opened in Vegas, Hooters sold it to the OYO Hotel & Homes group in 2019 who then renamed it to its current name of OYO Hotel Las Vegas. However the Hooters restaurant inside it is still open & is regarded by many as the only redeemable feature of the hotel which is considered one of the worst if not the worst in Vegas.
Orlando FL had several Hooters from 2000 to 2015 or so. I'd say around 60% closed down. The brand just did not draw customers the way you'd think. Sports bars & cheap bar food places are all over metro Orlando. Sexy women in tank tops aren't enough in 2022.
Dude, it's a beach city. We have several right in the suburbs in Tampa and they are always busy. Not a low class area and there's one less than 5 minutes from me.
Spent ALOT of time in my local Hooters between 2005-2009, and made some lifelong friends in the management and staff over the years. I watched the "downfall" of this chain firsthand and a few things come to mind as to why. 1. Bad management on the local level. I've seen quite a few comments citing some of the creepy and downright abusive conduct of first level managers. This cannot be understated. The fastest way to sink an individual location of any business is poor employee moral due to inept management. I'm not just talking about the moral of the girls either, bad moral in kitchen staff is arguably worse for the customer. 2. The amount of competition and market saturation cannot be understated either, I have a friend who manages "gentlemen's clubs" and the simple formula for success in those is have the best- looking ladies, and to get the best-looking ladies they have to make the best money, but to attract the biggest spending customers you have to have the best-looking ladies. It's a negative feedback loop that some locations can't recover from. When there's a Twin Peaks, a Hooters, and a Tilted Kilt all in the same area you are competing for staff, and that "talent" pool is only so deep, and the girls are going to go where the money is best. 3. The Recession in 2008-2009 is also a huge factor, this should be pretty obvious, but see the above comment. The idea that when the economy goes to crap wait staff gets more attractive only holds so much water, especially in a business model that relies on a gimmick, a gimmick that essentially eliminates 40% of people right off the rip. The negative feedback loop comes into play when the tips go down due to recession, and when tips go down the "talent" level suffers etc, etc... 4. We all grew up. Hooters was a glowing beacon of everything safely risque in the 90's and early 2000's us dudes in our early to mid 40's were coming up and riding that monetary wave in those days. The girls were largely our age, we all had pockets full of money and zero responsibility. The recession hit right as we were all kinda outgrowing that phase. The girls hit ages where priorities changed, and settling down became attractive, other career paths became available, and with the change in attitude amongst the youth further diluting the talent pool everything dated itself. You still see success within the concept, but at a much smaller scale. However, you're starting to see a revival of sorts within the concept. There's been lots of things like car meets, and other kinds of event happening at my local "breasturant" type places since the pandemic restrictions lifted. Tha said, I bet you could make a MINT opening a place that had the girls decked out as Anime characters today.

Back in the early 90's I frequented the Hooters in Colorado Springs occasionally. I recall one menu item that I should have taken them up on: The "Exclusive Burger" for $105.95. This included their $5.95 burger (quite expensive for the time) and a bottle of Dom Perignon. I should have kept that menu.
I went to that same one in the early 90's when I was in the Army. We joked about ordering that but we were way too broke and none of us knew enough about champagne to know the difference anyways. Wings and cheap beer all the way.

When I was a kid in the 90s, for girls in their late teens or early 20s being a Hooter's girl was like being an "it girl." It was basically treated like winning a beauty contest.
I knew a former Hooter’s waitress, who told me the absolute shopping list of rules they had to follow. There were restrictions and instructions for everything from fingernails and make-up, to hair, accessories, tattoos, piercings, their social media presences, their weight, and topics they could or couldn’t talk about at work or online. It was an every day, literal performance surrounding the illusion of a lifestyle they wanted you to exude. Obviously they also wanted their staff single and you would get fired if you were going to have a baby. She said she quit because of how bad management was. Not surprisingly the pervading story is Hooters managers have egos and attitudes and are every bit as sexist, and obnoxious as you can imagine a restaurant manager who gets to choose the entire waitstaff based upon who he’d want to “sleep with”, would be.
As mentioned in the video, it does share some eerie similarities with the Playboy mansion (whether for better or worse). And speaking of which.. are you sure those managers only ''wanted'' to sleep with them, if you see what I mean? For the record, I hope so.
As a male, I worked in the kitchen at Hooters. At the Unit I worked at on Speedway Blvd. near the Charlotte motor Speedway, we were very busy. The girls worked hard, and the Management made sure they were not mistreated. There were even incentives to earn college scholarship money. If any girl had a problem with a customer, that customer was ejected and barred from returning. The entire restaurant (except the restrooms of course) had cameras, even in the coolers. This was for everyone's safety and security. And these cameras were able to be monitored from Corp. HQ around the clock, as well as recorded. The was even a female manager the girls could go to with any issues. (She wore slacks and a Polo shirt for those who might wonder) All of the girls I worked with were treated with dignity and respect, worked hard and made good money. One girl even was chosen to beautifully and correctly sing Our Nation Anthem at a race. I'm sure not all units were run the same but this one was a textbook operation.
I haven't been to many hooters, and the few I have been to weren't frequent haunts, but honestly my wife and I really liked it! I always felt like the waitresses were happy to serve us too, considering I wasn't being a lecherous jerk. Low bar to jump, sure, but still nice

I worked for Hooters for a bit in 2011, and while it could be fun to interact with SOME guests and get to know the other girls, management at my location made it a living nightmare. Both of the managers hated women at least a little bit and you could tell that job was a major power trip for them. We'd be lined up at the start of our shift and made to go down the line and critique each other's appearance to determine what we could do to ourselves to "look hotter for the guys." We'd be threatened with having our shifts cut until we lost however much weight our bosses thought we needed to lose at the time. We were supposed to wear our pen pouch over our crotch to hide the shorts riding up but most of the time we were encouraged to ditch the pouch to show off our "camel toe" which is unnecessarily vulgar. Not to mention, then having to keep our change float stuffed in our bras day after day gave most of us rashes since money is filthy.
You should have filed a lawsuit as it's against the law.on that show undercover boss the hooter boss found this pervert manager taking advantage of the girls just like you describe.i don't know what happened but he changed policy and fired that manager and other employees. Rite of passage for certain generations and geographical local. My military days starting back in the mid 80's had me in FL and all Hooter's locations worldwide. They treat us veterans well, and I have never had a bad experience in their establishments. We enjoyed a submarine reunion at the LV casino and hotel...I won my trip cost and then some on their keno machine....swell!!!🤩🤩🤑🥳
Like many restaurant chains that have been around for a while, their food quality went downhill after the 1990's. It actually did taste better the last time I was there which was probably around 7-8 years ago including my favorites: the buffalo shrimp and the buffalo chicken sandwich. One of the celebrities not mentioned as former Hooters wait staff was the WWE's Bella Twins whom I met at the Mission Valley, CA Hooters in the early 2000's.
Somewhere around 2002 to 2004, the Hooters in Texas, Louisiana and maybe Mississippi had a 3 month contest for the Hooters girls, whereas the customers would rate the service from the girls. At the end of the 3 months, the Hooters' girl with the highest number of votes was supposed to win a free "Toyota", they even mentioned "keys to the Toyota". At the end of the contest, the Hooters' girl that won showed up to the event to win her prize. When she got there she was given a "Toy Yoda" doll. Get it, Toy Yoda vs Toyota? So the Hooters girl laughed because it was funny. Then she was like, OK, the joke is over, where's my car? The Hooters official told her, "Car, what car, we never promised you waitresses a car, we promised a "Toy Yoda" as in a toy Yoda doll, from the Star Wars movies. Needless to say she was pissed off. This caused Hooters a lot of bad press for several months with everyone from radio DJ's and radio talk show hosts, and other media outlets speaking out on behalf of the girls saying Hooters needs to give the girl the car. They still wouldn't give the lady her car. So guess what happened, people stopped eating at Hooters. People started boycotting Hooters on defense of the girls at Hooters. Once Hooters started losing business, they finally gave the woman her car. IMO this was the beginning of Hooters downfall for being seen as owned and managed by a bunch of sexist pigs. It left a sour taste in my mouth too because my experiences at Hooters were always top notch. The waitresses were always the nicest waitresses I ever encountered. I didn't eat there very often because I hated their hamburgers, the most horrible hamburgers I ever had in my life, along with the burgers at Ihops. Usually, when I went to Hooters it was more about the customer service, the girls were always that nice. I mean, you could see women in skimpy outfits at the mall every day of the week. After you eye up the girls a couple of times, it gets old. Really ...my best customer service experiences at restaurants was the Hooters in Metairie, LA. The Walton and Johnson radio show did multiple spots on behalf of the Hooters girls so she could get her car. As racy as those outfits may be perceived, they're still human beings who should be treated with respect, especially when all of them were some of the nicest people I ever met in my life. EDIT: Just to show how nice and sweet a lot of those Hooters waitresses are, the waitress that got screwed out her car went public and called for people to stop boycotting Hooters because the loss of revenue would result in employees losing their jobs. She came out and said for the sake of everyone who needed their incomes to not boycott Hooters anymore, and that she agreed to eat losing the car. What her actions did was further anger the general public against HOOTERS and caused more people to raise their voices demanding that they give the girl her car. This is something that effected the Hooters franchise in 3 States in the gulf coast mid south area. Like I said earlier, IMO the negative press from this was so horrific that I believe that this is what set off all the lawsuits because people no longer saw Hooters as a sympathetic victim, but as an instigator of their own problems. ..
I love when this happens to greedy companies. If they just gave the girl her car, everybody would be happy and Hooters get some good publicity and boost to the brand which is more valuable than some damn car. But no, better to lose countless millions in the long run because of penny pinching. Never gets old.

That the cost of giving that woman her car would be insignificant compared what the bad publicity from this stunt would cost them. Not only from the lost if revenue from the boycotts over this incident, but it was within a year or so when the feminist groups started suing Hooters citing they were discriminating against obese women in their hiring practices. That stunt they pulled with that "toy Yoda" verse "Toyota" contest probably ended up costing Hooters 10's upon 10's of millions of dollars when you add up the hit they took specifically over that incident combined with what most people could see would be fall out from that. Anyone woman filing a sexual harassment lawsuit against the company, or any other kind of sexist type discrimination lawsuit after this incident could use this incident as evidence against them. It was one of the most bone headed moves I had ever seen any company make. It was one thing for them to even think about pulling that stunt ...but to double down on that shit for over 6 months? I think it was 8 or 9 months later that they finally gave the lady her car. Unbelievable!! ....and this happened in the early 2000's and not 1970.
I always laughed at the typical replies I'd get when I told people i worked at Hooters, as a guy. I'd either be asked "what do you do?" As if I'd be a server and they don't understand the women aren't back there cooking.... I still chuck at my gf's (at the time) grandmother thought they walked around topless. And at least once a week I'd get told by some customer at the bar, (while clocking out, since the computer was at the bar) "you're so lucky to work here." As I'm covered in flour, chicken juice, and the smell of the fryers. I will add that I loved all my coworkers and we would all hangout at the bar across the street after work and supported each other, made some good friends there.
I always liked having a business lunch there. One day A work friend and I went there. I ordered a rum and coke with my lunch and she (the waitress) politely reminded me that there were kids at the next booth. So I quickly changed my order to just a coke instead. That was the rum and cokiest just coke I ever had :)
My friends and I liked Hooters because we could get seated fairly quickly as a large group and the food was decent to good and very reasonably priced. The wings were good back in the day and I even took my mother there for Mother's Day. But the last couple of times I went, the quality of the food had gone down considerably and the waitress agreed. There was no reason to go there any more and now there are no Hooters in the Los Angeles area.
I always roll my eyes when your waitress sits down with you, touches your arm and writes her name on a napkin for you. I may have become too cynical or learned too much seeing a behind the scenes look at a similar establishment called "Raisins".
My uncle took me and my cousin to hooters once. The waitress did this and my cousin said "it's just like south park!" We also had a good laugh when she came back because "she thought we were cool and interesting" yeah the hot woman thinks two 8th graders and the bald guy are cool and intresting.
I remember getting 50 free wings to Hooters playing bingo locally at a sports bar on Thursday nights. Too bad they don't do that anymore. I kinda miss going to Hooters. Our local restaurant still gets good business.
I remember six months before the first Hooters location opened, I read about them in the Wall Street Journal and their plan to open a sports themed restaurant chain...as I was taking an economics class in college at the time, I chose them as subject to follow (who wouldn't)...but it wasn't till 1998 when a trip to Florida actually allowed me to visit any of them....(with my bride in tow)....later they came to my town...they were well positioned during the pandemic as they were allready setup for orders to go, but in some places that wasn't enough...but they are in 26 countries worldwide, so they will be back in some areas with a better setup. The partnerships with girl scouts selling cookies out front certainly doesn't hurt.
We had a knock off up this way called Tilted Kilt, and while the women's uniform was as expected, the guys (usually bartenders) did wear kilts. My daughter and I loved going there. I wish she remembered McGuire's in Pensacola, FL, that's a pretty unique place. I have known a number of gals who managed to pay their way through college working at Hooters and places like it in the 90s.
I remembering listening to a Hooters girl on tiktok talk about their uniform.. And the thing that sticks out to me is the tights. How they have to wear very specific tights and they supposivly tear very easily. But what really got me, was how hooters had vending machines for these tights and sold them for 5 bucks. Just sounded like a bad scam to me

There are good things and bad things with unions so I wouldn’t go around saying you are in favor of unions because they can be just as bad. @@sarahprince2412 Everything is corruptible, so checks and balances are required and having unions is better than not having unions (else there's one less check and balance). Paying a union subscription is an obvious necessity when the union provides a service (lawyers, consultations, PR, insurance, and strike funds). Workers rights are necessary to prevent employee mistreatment and exploitation, because moving jobs is often not easy and the worker is often far less powerful than the employer. There is no real alternative to unions for all their faults.
Back in the late 80's the wings were pretty good there. The last time I went to a Hooters was in the early 2000's and the quality of the food had dropped significantly. Too bad they have had to sacrifice quality.
Me n my buddy (who r Canadian) discovered Hooters for the first time in Dallas, TX the Fall of 1992 on a business trip. There were no Hooters restaurants in Canada back then - BUT we loved the place! Of course we were only 22 years old and less than a year past our university degrees... It was only a year or two later they expanded to Canada... We attended them some throughout our 20's and a few times in our 30's... But ven thothere r a few still around (last I looked), I don't think I've been to one more than once in the last 20 years... In fact, I think the last time may have been on a road trip vacation to Orlando, Fla in 2004... I stopped fortune at the Savanna, Georgia Hooters along the interstate hwy... It pretty much is from an earlier period when perceptions were different. Or, maybe for a younger crowd? BUT I know I had a LOT of fun at them from time-2-time in my 20's. ESPECIALLY in Dallas! 🎉
My ex girlfriend in college got a job there. Ended up dating (supporting) one the fry guys for like 5 years and tried to come back to me with a huge amount of debt and a drug problem at that point. Things really went downhill after she got a job there.
It's wasn't the job, it was the people she chose to surround herself with. There's a saying: "Tell me who your friends are, and I will tell you who *you* are!"
An incredible, random, and funny rise and not a bad fall at all. Three hundred locations left is nothing to be sad about. Ultimately I think what keeps them good is a lot of people like them for both the girls and the food equally, and, at the end of the day, what the Hooters Girls where is generally the same outfit many girls and women where out everyday. We'll take a walk through my local mall or old college if you don't believe me.

I feel like the food quality has gone downhill. The first time I went to one, the food was really good...and now it's worse than frozen food. A lot of chains make this mistake and decline as a result. They switch over to literally frozen manufactured food and just reheat it. the last time I went to a Hooters, the chicken nachos were at the quality level of a lunchable.
Considering they closed one near a military town says a lot. I went there before they closed and it was literally a shit hole. There were way too many thin, flat chested girls trying really hard to show their cleavage. The aroma of the restaurant was pretty bad. It shouldn’t smell like a fish market the moment you walk in. Thankfully it was shutdown a year later.
I worked at a Tex Mex restaurant next to a Hooters for some time, and the Hooters staff used to order food from us pretty much daily because they didn't want to eat Hooters food, despite their staff discounts.
its not terrible but bw3 roosters and quakersteak are a ton better and you dont have the girl in skimpy outfit deal. never had twin peaks though. quakersteak is prob the best of the chain wing places imo.

People complain about the Hooters uniform that might as well be a 1 piece neck to toe body suit but you hear nothing about places like Twin Peaks where the staff is wearing the bare minimum of clothes.
The restaurant business in general produces anxiety I think. I worked at the l'Orangerie at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix Az when I was in college. I worked as a busboy and it was quite stressful and this was back in the '70s. I did make very good money though. I can't imagine working in a restaurant nowadays with the crazy stuff you hear about.
As someone working in the kitchen, yeah the stress and depression is real. But without work that would just be depression, so at least I feel something
"Traditional" Hooters 1983 - 2013. It was a hell of a run. The "Traditional" Hooters Waitress looking like a Cheerleader in her Slouch Socks was always a sight to behold for me personally. There was a Hooters in Asheville that used to be on Tunnel Road for years before I finally moved there in 2001 - I even ate at it once and knew at least one local model and actress who waited tables there. Now, it has closed down and been replaced with of all things, I think, a toy shop! Try explaining THAT one to the kids!

I remember going to a local one for two reasons, discounted wings and fries on Wednesday and because they showed UFC cards without a cover. When I moved elsewhere, I found more bars that did the latter, and the wings tasted better anyway. When the bartender is more comfortable in their clothes and the people around them, they tend to give better service. Who would have thought?

I went to a Hooters 20-some-odd years ago with a group of people that included women. The waitresses were nice and very competent. The food was ok for burgers, ect. I never went to another because I wasn't interested.
I still go to the local Hooters with my Uncle from time to time. Wings, drinks, sports on big TVs and pretty girls... it's a fun place for a couple of guys to hang out and catch up. I'll be sad if it ever goes away, but I do admit that it is starting to feel like a relic of a bygone age.
I’m a woman who’s been going to Hooters for over 25 years. The one in Port Richey, Florida on the water is really nice but I live in Ocala so that one has it’s up and downs because they don’t have smoke wings anymore which were my favorite. The tilted kilt in Ocala is out of business. The wing house is going to follow suit here shortly because they’re not doing too well..
One big problem Hooters has is the high turnover rate for waitresses. From what I've observed in my visits to a number of Hooters restaurants, they expect the waitresses to actually be waitresses, which means they weren't suppose to hang around a table and chat for too long; the managers run a fairly tight establishment. I expect for a significant percentage of the Hooters waitresses this was the first real job (i.e.: receiving a paycheck with taxes taken out) many of them ever had. They quickly learned that being a Hooters waitress wasn't quite as glamorous as they may have imagined, so they fairly soon quit.
We had a couple of Show-Me's in Tampa not far from the original Hooters and they had the best garlic parm wing, unfortunately they didn't last very long.
I like hooters. I've been to several restaurants numerous times over the years. These particular spots have good managers. The service is great, the food is good, it has a fun atmosphere and the girls are easy to look at and generally friendly. I have some friends that think the chain is very demeaning to women. But none of them have ever been in a hooters. I've gotten to know a number of waitresses. They were almost invariably working their way throught school, and the generous tips were helpful for this purpose.
I can imagine this going away. People in general are less happy and outgoing than they used to be. There's a dark cloud hanging over our modern society.

The fact that Hooters is still around speaks volumes. Men want to be served by women in skimpy uniforms. That desire is never going away, so Hooters will probably last for a while.

Real talk, the food was quite good for what it was, at least here. I’ve got a soft spot for that particular type of bar food, and things like that buffalo shrimp really put it over the top. I genuinely was into the food, but it felt weird because I’m thinking all of the women are looking at me assuming I’m there to stare. I don’t know. We have things like Sneakers now, but that’s steakhouse prices for sub-par food.
Like every other business, after a while, it begins to fail when you fail to take care of your employees. It was a nice play to hang out with the guys and talk to a pretty girl but then it got old. I was more interested in the food than the eye candy. Then I started to dislike how management treated their staff which then resulted in poor customer service. I observed this at many locations in many states.

There's nothing like the smell of White Castle - walking in and seeing that massive flat top full of chopped onions and the buns neatly laid heel over top... They're not good for you, but they're only four ingredients, which when you compare it to today's fast food industry, is one of the only ones like that: a McDouble has ketchup which is full of high fructose corn syrup, etc. And don't get me started on the taste! I believe that White Castle may have invented the holy trinity of burgers: onion, pickle, cheese. Whenever I do smash burgers, that's always my go-to. We have a lot that we owe this incredible business model, and when you deny their influence you spit in the face of the greatest of all the burger restaurants
Always loved Hooters. Great food, fun atmosphere, and besides the obvious appeal of the outfits, the Hooters Girls were always professional, friendly, and entertaining.
Back in January 2018 I went to the Barcelona branch of Hooters, which was actually outside the city itself in the nearby coastal town where our hotel was. Given how Hooters is known in popular culture, the sight of a lone server, in a near empty restaurant was something of a letdown. The Hard Rock Cafe in the city itself was much busier the next night.
I’ve been to Hooters at least three times- my first time being with my parents, who most definitely had a good sense of humor and rolled with it when I suggested it as a joke while on a vacation. …it’s the wings, the wings are the real star of the show, and while the servers are incredibly nice, the uniforms have always been tacky and awful.
The reality is this; Hooters was created and existed on a simple premise, and if you expected anything else walking in, you should have gone to Denny's. Period.

She said "The American Owl Restaurant" and laughed because she knew what "Hooters" meant. So we asked the Chinese Hooters greeters what "Hooters" meant. They said "The American Owl Restaurant". Hooter is fantastic. Buffalo wings and shrimp is the best. In your video you brought up tilted kilt, that restaurant and hooter are 2 of the friendliest places I've been in. Great sports bar/restaurant the hooter girls are a bonus, always having a positive attitude and friendly.

Part of their downfall was the competition. I'm from the Clearwater area where they started and have been here for over 40 years. There's a guy named Crawford Kerr who started the Winghouse. The stores were more open and better lit with windows, the girls had slightly better uniforms and they also had games for adults and kids and the biggest of all was he served alcohol where Hooters was beer and wine only. In the 2000's Hooters tried to sue him for copyright infringement because the Hooters franchisee's were not pleased that Winghouses were opening right next to many Hooters and killing their business. Well, long story but Hooters not only lost the lawsuit but Crawford was awarded the 1.2 million.

I stopped going to the Hooters in DTLA after my favorite waitress quit. The other waitresses would only cater to well dressed business type men believing they would give them a higher tip. I started to tip this one sweet waitress who was more of a geek and very smart lady (She and I would talk Greek history, Anthropology, and Cultural Anthropology til my food got cold.) She wasn't like the "instagram model" types that would turn their noses up at guys that were casually dressed and didnt look like a stock broker. When the other girls found out that I was giving her $30 tips, all of a sudden, they tried to give me service. In fact, one actually tried to take over the nice girls area for a chance to get the $30 tips by flirting with me, didnt work. When Id ask for the nice waitress shed say "She wasnt in today" even though I could see here clearly on the other side of the dining room! lol!
One day I came in for lunch and the manager handed me a note from the nice waitress informing me she had quit her job to work as a Library Technician, her dream job. Havnt been back to hooters since.
Should have got that nunber man. Missed oppurtunity.

I worked at Hooters, it wasn’t that bad! I actually had a lot of fun! The tights or the outfit didn’t bother me at all! The hula hoops were actually fun! We used them all the time when we were bored! If you complain that you don’t like the outfit blah blah blah, don’t go or work there! I had a blast!
P.S. I actually cheered in the NFL and was in an NFL calendar after my time at Hooter’s so!
My favorite place once had large butterfly wings at their establishment and all the waitresses wanted to try them on and parade around in them. I saw that and told someone, "That right there is the difference between men and women. A woman can wear butterfly wings and look so feminine and beautiful. A man would just look stupid."

My brother was Bob Brooks. Needless to say, I loved the restaurant. My brother passed away in 2006 and because of the size of his estate, his estate took over 10 years to settle. Hence, all of the sports marketing businesses he built, went away and Hooters was sold. He was a great business man and made Hooters what it was in its heyday. Still has the best wings anywhere, bar none!

Fascinating piece of restaurant history, very unique!
While attending school in Boston, I had 45 minutes to kill before catching my train back home. There are more than a dozen bars in the area around North Station, with roughly similar prices, but most could not care less if you died of thirst while waiting for service. At Hooters, though, the service was almost instantaneous on arrival. Snappy service, when minutes count, is what kept me going back.

So, the savvy choose Hooters. These girls hustle, they don't linger anywhere, and you can watch either them, or sports on the many big screens, and still get your drink on.

The Hooters in Ocean City MD is still open; when my family went in the off season we took our dogs and sat in the outside patio, and the servers always made it a point to bring water and treats to our dachshunds, especially Willie who was in a wheelchair

The original Hooters in Clearwater was renovated a few years back. The Hooters restaurants in the area are still seeing steady business.
Yep both Hooters and Winghouse do great here.
From what I understand, a lot of Hooters girls developed anxiety and depression from management and rarely from customers. They had an incredibly bad habit in the aughts of hiring "men who understood men" at the top and that trickling down into these super toxic guys that treated the waitresses like they were depreciating assets. The waitresses knew that their looks are what got them into the job and made them tips, but management crossed the line into constant threats of them losing their jobs, coercing them into lewd acts, and overall just not treating them like humans.
Service workers deal with this sort of stuff commonly, but Hooters waitresses got a special dose of it. As far as I know, there was a big higher up change to fix it, but it's not evenly applied. Also, I'd bet pretty easily that "the problems came from customers"-problem was a Hooters-originated claim.
I love how people are fine with exploring and talking about girls who worked in such an environment, they even criticize it and say it’s really toxic. Yet no one is ready to talk about how bad is actual prostitution which is way worse than a hooters waitress as a job, and the mental problems it inflicts on the people who work in such jobs.
That makes more sense. Most of the Hooters places I've been to, the managers have always been conservatively dressed middle aged women. And more than a couple of times I've seen them go to tables and tell them to keep their hands off to themselves.

Love Hooters food! Was so glad they opened one near me in 2016 (Gurnee, IL). The location was doing great, until COVID hit in 2020. They closed from March until September (even though most places opened up that summer in some capacity). They then opened up for 2 months before announcing that they were closing for good. Now the nearest one is about an hour away. Miss their wings!
To be honest, I worked in the restaurant business for 11 years ( 5 of them at Hooters) it really wasn't all that different than any other serving/bartender gig other than you got WAY BETTER tips. Also concerning the Hooters girls having anxiety and being depressed...I think that's anyone that works in the restaurant business 🤷♀️ Oh and also the food is AMAZING 👏

My first experience of Hooters was in Taipei in 2000 or 2001, it was close to my office and I liked the burgers. However in Taipei hooters was always a family restaurant, filled with locals and their children. The entertainment was mainly focused on a hoola hoop competitions by the waitresses.

When it comes to the hotel that Hooters opened in Vegas, Hooters sold it to the OYO Hotel & Homes group in 2019 who then renamed it to its current name of OYO Hotel Las Vegas. However the Hooters restaurant inside it is still open & is regarded by many as the only redeemable feature of the hotel which is considered one of the worst if not the worst in Vegas.
Actually stopped by their casino back in the day. It was tiny and reeked of carpet cleaner and despair. And wings, obviously.

Orlando FL had several Hooters from 2000 to 2015 or so. I'd say around 60% closed down. The brand just did not draw customers the way you'd think. Sports bars & cheap bar food places are all over metro Orlando. Sexy women in tank tops aren't enough in 2022.
Dude, it's a beach city. We have several right in the suburbs in Tampa and they are always busy. Not a low class area and there's one less than 5 minutes from me.

Spent ALOT of time in my local Hooters between 2005-2009, and made some lifelong friends in the management and staff over the years. I watched the "downfall" of this chain firsthand and a few things come to mind as to why.
1. Bad management on the local level. I've seen quite a few comments citing some of the creepy and downright abusive conduct of first level managers. This cannot be understated. The fastest way to sink an individual location of any business is poor employee moral due to inept management. I'm not just talking about the moral of the girls either, bad moral in kitchen staff is arguably worse for the customer.
2. The amount of competition and market saturation cannot be understated either, I have a friend who manages "gentlemen's clubs" and the simple formula for success in those is have the best- looking ladies, and to get the best-looking ladies they have to make the best money, but to attract the biggest spending customers you have to have the best-looking ladies. It's a negative feedback loop that some locations can't recover from. When there's a Twin Peaks, a Hooters, and a Tilted Kilt all in the same area you are competing for staff, and that "talent" pool is only so deep, and the girls are going to go where the money is best.
3. The Recession in 2008-2009 is also a huge factor, this should be pretty obvious, but see the above comment. The idea that when the economy goes to crap wait staff gets more attractive only holds so much water, especially in a business model that relies on a gimmick, a gimmick that essentially eliminates 40% of people right off the rip. The negative feedback loop comes into play when the tips go down due to recession, and when tips go down the "talent" level suffers etc, etc...
4. We all grew up. Hooters was a glowing beacon of everything safely risque in the 90's and early 2000's us dudes in our early to mid 40's were coming up and riding that monetary wave in those days. The girls were largely our age, we all had pockets full of money and zero responsibility. The recession hit right as we were all kinda outgrowing that phase. The girls hit ages where priorities changed, and settling down became attractive, other career paths became available, and with the change in attitude amongst the youth further diluting the talent pool everything dated itself.
You still see success within the concept, but at a much smaller scale. However, you're starting to see a revival of sorts within the concept. There's been lots of things like car meets, and other kinds of event happening at my local "breasturant" type places since the pandemic restrictions lifted.

Back in the early 90's I frequented the Hooters in Colorado Springs occasionally. I recall one menu item that I should have taken them up on: The "Exclusive Burger" for $105.95. This included their $5.95 burger (quite expensive for the time) and a bottle of Dom Perignon. I should have kept that menu.
I went to that same one in the early 90's when I was in the Army. We joked about ordering that but we were way too broke and none of us knew enough about champagne to know the difference anyways. Wings and cheap beer all the way.

I knew a former Hooter’s waitress, who told me the absolute shopping list of rules they had to follow. There were restrictions and instructions for everything from fingernails and make-up, to hair, accessories, tattoos, piercings, their social media presences, their weight, and topics they could or couldn’t talk about at work or online. It was an every day, literal performance surrounding the illusion of a lifestyle they wanted you to exude. Obviously they also wanted their staff single and you would get fired if you were going to have a baby. She said she quit because of how bad management was. Not surprisingly the pervading story is Hooters managers have egos and attitudes and are every bit as sexist, and obnoxious as you can imagine a restaurant manager who gets to choose the entire waitstaff based upon who he’d want to “sleep with”, would be.
As mentioned in the video, it does share some eerie similarities with the Playboy mansion (whether for better or worse). And speaking of which.. are you sure those managers only ''wanted'' to sleep with them, if you see what I mean? For the record, I hope so.
As a male, I worked in the kitchen at Hooters. At the Unit I worked at on Speedway Blvd. near the Charlotte motor Speedway, we were very busy. The girls worked hard, and the Management made sure they were not mistreated. There were even incentives to earn college scholarship money. If any girl had a problem with a customer, that customer was ejected and barred from returning. The entire restaurant (except the restrooms of course) had cameras, even in the coolers. This was for everyone's safety and security. And these cameras were able to be monitored from Corp. HQ around the clock, as well as recorded. The was even a female manager the girls could go to with any issues. (She wore slacks and a Polo shirt for those who might wonder) All of the girls I worked with were treated with dignity and respect, worked hard and made good money. One girl even was chosen to beautifully and correctly sing Our Nation Anthem at a race. I'm sure not all units were run the same but this one was a textbook operation.

I haven't been to many hooters, and the few I have been to weren't frequent haunts, but honestly my wife and I really liked it! I always felt like the waitresses were happy to serve us too, considering I wasn't being a lecherous jerk. Low bar to jump, sure, but still nice

I worked for Hooters for a bit in 2011, and while it could be fun to interact with SOME guests and get to know the other girls, management at my location made it a living nightmare. Both of the managers hated women at least a little bit and you could tell that job was a major power trip for them. We'd be lined up at the start of our shift and made to go down the line and critique each other's appearance to determine what we could do to ourselves to "look hotter for the guys." We'd be threatened with having our shifts cut until we lost however much weight our bosses thought we needed to lose at the time. We were supposed to wear our pen pouch over our crotch to hide the shorts riding up but most of the time we were encouraged to ditch the pouch to show off our "camel toe" which is unnecessarily vulgar. Not to mention, then having to keep our change float stuffed in our bras day after day gave most of us rashes since money is filthy.

Rite of passage for certain generations and geographical local. My military days starting back in the mid 80's had me in FL and all Hooter's locations worldwide. They treat us veterans well, and I have never had a bad experience in their establishments. We enjoyed a submarine reunion at the LV casino and hotel...I won my trip cost and then some on their keno machine....swell!!!🤩🤩🤑🥳
Like many restaurant chains that have been around for a while, their food quality went downhill after the 1990's. It actually did taste better the last time I was there which was probably around 7-8 years ago including my favorites: the buffalo shrimp and the buffalo chicken sandwich.
One of the celebrities not mentioned as former Hooters wait staff was the WWE's Bella Twins whom I met at the Mission Valley, CA Hooters in the early 2000's.
That's the only Hooters I went to, and it was only because they had a bike night.
I love getting the buffalo shrimp to go. It and the patio are what I like about Hooters

Somewhere around 2002 to 2004, the Hooters in Texas, Louisiana and maybe Mississippi had a 3 month contest for the Hooters girls, whereas the customers would rate the service from the girls. At the end of the 3 months, the Hooters' girl with the highest number of votes was supposed to win a free "Toyota", they even mentioned "keys to the Toyota".
At the end of the contest, the Hooters' girl that won showed up to the event to win her prize.
When she got there she was given a "Toy Yoda" doll.
Get it, Toy Yoda vs Toyota?
So the Hooters girl laughed because it was funny.
Then she was like, OK, the joke is over, where's my car?
The Hooters official told her, "Car, what car, we never promised you waitresses a car, we promised a "Toy Yoda" as in a toy Yoda doll, from the Star Wars movies.
Needless to say she was pissed off.
This caused Hooters a lot of bad press for several months with everyone from radio DJ's and radio talk show hosts, and other media outlets speaking out on behalf of the girls saying Hooters needs to give the girl the car.
They still wouldn't give the lady her car.
So guess what happened, people stopped eating at Hooters.
People started boycotting Hooters on defense of the girls at Hooters.
Once Hooters started losing business, they finally gave the woman her car.
IMO this was the beginning of Hooters downfall for being seen as owned and managed by a bunch of sexist pigs.
It left a sour taste in my mouth too because my experiences at Hooters were always top notch. The waitresses were always the nicest waitresses I ever encountered. I didn't eat there very often because I hated their hamburgers, the most horrible hamburgers I ever had in my life, along with the burgers at Ihops.
Usually, when I went to Hooters it was more about the customer service, the girls were always that nice. I mean, you could see women in skimpy outfits at the mall every day of the week. After you eye up the girls a couple of times, it gets old. Really ...my best customer service experiences at restaurants was the Hooters in Metairie, LA.
The Walton and Johnson radio show did multiple spots on behalf of the Hooters girls so she could get her car.
As racy as those outfits may be perceived, they're still human beings who should be treated with respect, especially when all of them were some of the nicest people I ever met in my life.
EDIT: Just to show how nice and sweet a lot of those Hooters waitresses are, the waitress that got screwed out her car went public and called for people to stop boycotting Hooters because the loss of revenue would result in employees losing their jobs.
She came out and said for the sake of everyone who needed their incomes to not boycott Hooters anymore, and that she agreed to eat losing the car.
What her actions did was further anger the general public against HOOTERS and caused more people to raise their voices demanding that they give the girl her car.
This is something that effected the Hooters franchise in 3 States in the gulf coast mid south area.
Like I said earlier, IMO the negative press from this was so horrific that I believe that this is what set off all the lawsuits because people no longer saw Hooters as a sympathetic victim, but as an instigator of their own problems.

Not only from the lost if revenue from the boycotts over this incident, but it was within a year or so when the feminist groups started suing Hooters citing they were discriminating against obese women in their hiring practices.

I'd either be asked "what do you do?" As if I'd be a server and they don't understand the women aren't back there cooking....

I will add that I loved all my coworkers and we would all hangout at the bar across the street after work and supported each other, made some good friends there.
I always liked having a business lunch there. One day A work friend and I went there. I ordered a rum and coke with my lunch and she (the waitress) politely reminded me that there were kids at the next booth. So I quickly changed my order to just a coke instead. That was the rum and cokiest just coke I ever had :)
My friends and I liked Hooters because we could get seated fairly quickly as a large group and the food was decent to good and very reasonably priced. The wings were good back in the day and I even took my mother there for Mother's Day. But the last couple of times I went, the quality of the food had gone down considerably and the waitress agreed. There was no reason to go there any more and now there are no Hooters in the Los Angeles area.

My uncle took me and my cousin to hooters once. The waitress did this and my cousin said "it's just like south park!" We also had a good laugh when she came back because "she thought we were cool and interesting" yeah the hot woman thinks two 8th graders and the bald guy are cool and intresting.

I remember six months before the first Hooters location opened, I read about them in the Wall Street Journal and their plan to open a sports themed restaurant chain...as I was taking an economics class in college at the time, I chose them as subject to follow (who wouldn't)...but it wasn't till 1998 when a trip to Florida actually allowed me to visit any of them....(with my bride in tow)....later they came to my town...they were well positioned during the pandemic as they were allready setup for orders to go, but in some places that wasn't enough...but they are in 26 countries worldwide, so they will be back in some areas with a better setup. The partnerships with girl scouts selling cookies out front certainly doesn't hurt.
We had a knock off up this way called Tilted Kilt, and while the women's uniform was as expected, the guys (usually bartenders) did wear kilts. My daughter and I loved going there. I wish she remembered McGuire's in Pensacola, FL, that's a pretty unique place.

@@sarahprince2412 Everything is corruptible, so checks and balances are required and having unions is better than not having unions (else there's one less check and balance). Paying a union subscription is an obvious necessity when the union provides a service (lawyers, consultations, PR, insurance, and strike funds). Workers rights are necessary to prevent employee mistreatment and exploitation, because moving jobs is often not easy and the worker is often far less powerful than the employer. There is no real alternative to unions for all their faults.

Me n my buddy (who r Canadian) discovered Hooters for the first time in Dallas, TX the Fall of 1992 on a business trip. There were no Hooters restaurants in Canada back then - BUT we loved the place! Of course we were only 22 years old and less than a year past our university degrees... It was only a year or two later they expanded to Canada... We attended them some throughout our 20's and a few times in our 30's... But ven thothere r a few still around (last I looked), I don't think I've been to one more than once in the last 20 years... In fact, I think the last time may have been on a road trip vacation to Orlando, Fla in 2004... I stopped fortune at the Savanna, Georgia Hooters along the interstate hwy... It pretty much is from an earlier period when perceptions were different. Or, maybe for a younger crowd? BUT I know I had a LOT of fun at them from time-2-time in my 20's. ESPECIALLY in Dallas! 🎉
Went to a Hooters in Kentucky. Beer was warm, women were cold, and the wings weren't fit to be dog food.
My ex girlfriend in college got a job there. Ended up dating (supporting) one the fry guys for like 5 years and tried to come back to me with a huge amount of debt and a drug problem at that point. Things really went downhill after she got a job there.

An incredible, random, and funny rise and not a bad fall at all. Three hundred locations left is nothing to be sad about. Ultimately I think what keeps them good is a lot of people like them for both the girls and the food equally, and, at the end of the day, what the Hooters Girls where is generally the same outfit many girls and women where out everyday. We'll take a walk through my local mall or old college if you don't believe me.

I feel like the food quality has gone downhill. The first time I went to one, the food was really good...and now it's worse than frozen food. A lot of chains make this mistake and decline as a result. They switch over to literally frozen manufactured food and just reheat it. the last time I went to a Hooters, the chicken nachos were at the quality level of a lunchable.
Check out your local gym. The girls there are wearing the same type of revealing clothes and some are actually more revealing than a Hooters uniform.
Considering they closed one near a military town says a lot. I went there before they closed and it was literally a shit hole. There were way too many thin, flat chested girls trying really hard to show their cleavage. The aroma of the restaurant was pretty bad. It shouldn’t smell like a fish market the moment you walk in. Thankfully it was shutdown a year later.

I worked at a Tex Mex restaurant next to a Hooters for some time, and the Hooters staff used to order food from us pretty much daily because they didn't want to eat Hooters food, despite their staff discounts.
its not terrible but bw3 roosters and quakersteak are a ton better and you dont have the girl in skimpy outfit deal. never had twin peaks though. quakersteak is prob the best of the chain wing places imo.

The restaurant business in general produces anxiety I think. I worked at the l'Orangerie at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix Az when I was in college. I worked as a busboy and it was quite stressful and this was back in the '70s. I did make very good money though. I can't imagine working in a restaurant nowadays with the crazy stuff you hear about.

"Traditional" Hooters 1983 - 2013. It was a hell of a run. The "Traditional" Hooters Waitress looking like a Cheerleader in her Slouch Socks was always a sight to behold for me personally. Friendly Girls, Great Wings, Awesome Service. That's how I view Hooters. Modifying their outfit was a BAD MOVE!
And the fact that they are ( now ) understaffed and the quality is NOTHING like it was in the 80’s …

I want to know more about the Tilted Kilt. They never had any bars or restaurants in NYC because Hooters was so popular. The only way I found out about Tilted Kilt was because it featured on one of Jon Taffer's Bar Rescue
There was a Hooters in Asheville that used to be on Tunnel Road for years before I finally moved there in 2001 - I even ate at it once and knew at least one local model and actress who waited tables there. Now, it has closed down and been replaced with of all things, I think, a toy shop! Try explaining THAT one to the kids!
I have no idea why breaded wings aren't more popular around the country. I love em and it's the only way I make them at home.

@@HudsonValleyVHS Wings in general are everywhere around the country that I've been. However, I can't think of a single place outside of different Hooters that I've seen breaded wings on the menu. I don't know why. Breaded wings are amazing and definitely the superior way of preparing them.
This is something I'd like to see more from Company Man than this channel, restaurant chains are a somewhat different ballpark from food history.

I remember going to a local one for two reasons, discounted wings and fries on Wednesday and because they showed UFC cards without a cover. When I moved elsewhere, I found more bars that did the latter, and the wings tasted better anyway. When the bartender is more comfortable in their clothes and the people around them, they tend to give better service. Who would have thought?
*A few things:*
▫️My friend's younger brother was a cook for them. Also a serial workplace dater when it came to the Hooters girls. As a guy in his twenties I guess he was living the dream. Plus it never got complicated because the turnover rate for the waitresses was crazy high. Win/win type stuff.
▫️I remember as a kid my uncle telling my aunts and grandmother that he "walked in, took one look around and walked right out". 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ Evan at my young age then I knew he was full of it, lol.

I went to a Hooters 20-some-odd years ago with a group of people that included women. The waitresses were nice and very competent. The food was ok for burgers, ect. I never went to another because I wasn't interested.
I still go to the local Hooters with my Uncle from time to time. Wings, drinks, sports on big TVs and pretty girls... it's a fun place for a couple of guys to hang out and catch up. I'll be sad if it ever goes away, but I do admit that it is starting to feel like a relic of a bygone age.
I’m a woman who’s been going to Hooters for over 25 years. The one in Port Richey, Florida on the water is really nice but I live in Ocala so that one has it’s up and downs because they don’t have smoke wings anymore which were my favorite. The tilted kilt in Ocala is out of business. The wing house is going to follow suit here shortly because they’re not doing too well..
One big problem Hooters has is the high turnover rate for waitresses. From what I've observed in my visits to a number of Hooters restaurants, they expect the waitresses to actually be waitresses, which means they weren't suppose to hang around a table and chat for too long; the managers run a fairly tight establishment. I expect for a significant percentage of the Hooters waitresses this was the first real job (i.e.: receiving a paycheck with taxes taken out) many of them ever had. They quickly learned that being a Hooters waitress wasn't quite as glamorous as they may have imagined, so they fairly soon quit.
I was gutted they shut down hooters here in Osaka. The first week the pandemic started they said just threw in the towel and bounced out the city!
There’s a knockoff chain called Show-Me’s in Missouri. The only difference is the girls wear pink instead of orange.
We had a couple of Show-Me's in Tampa not far from the original Hooters and they had the best garlic parm wing, unfortunately they didn't last very long.
I like hooters. I've been to several restaurants numerous times over the years. These particular spots have good managers. The service is great, the food is good, it has a fun atmosphere and the girls are easy to look at and generally friendly. I have some friends that think the chain is very demeaning to women. But none of them have ever been in a hooters. I've gotten to know a number of waitresses. They were almost invariably working their way throught school, and the generous tips were helpful for this purpose.
I can imagine this going away. People in general are less happy and outgoing than they used to be. There's a dark cloud hanging over our modern society.
That dark cloud is everybody having to be offended and pissed off about something.

The funny thing is that I know a shit ton of people who just straight up like the wings. Never met a person who goes to Hooters for the reasons you’d think somehow.

In Texas we have another "brestaurant" chain called Bombshells. Same premise, but the theme is more like retro wartime I guess lol. We also have a place called Ojos Loco
TBH the worst service I've ever been was in a Hooters, the waitresses didn't attend us and then they complaint with the manager that we were stalking them. He didn't realize it was more women in the table than men. Anyway, that restaurant closed 2 years later and I'm totally glad

Real talk, the food was quite good for what it was, at least here. I’ve got a soft spot for that particular type of bar food, and things like that buffalo shrimp really put it over the top. I genuinely was into the food, but it felt weird because I’m thinking all of the women are looking at me assuming I’m there to stare. I don’t know. We have things like Sneakers now, but that’s steakhouse prices for sub-par food.

Like every other business, after a while, it begins to fail when you fail to take care of your employees. It was a nice play to hang out with the guys and talk to a pretty girl but then it got old. I was more interested in the food than the eye candy. Then I started to dislike how management treated their staff which then resulted in poor customer service. I observed this at many locations in many states.

They're not good for you, but they're only four ingredients, which when you compare it to today's fast food industry, is one of the only ones like that: a McDouble has ketchup which is full of high fructose corn syrup, etc.
And don't get me started on the taste! I believe that White Castle may have invented the holy trinity of burgers: onion, pickle, cheese.
Whenever I do smash burgers, that's always my go-to.

Always loved Hooters. Great food, fun atmosphere, and besides the obvious appeal of the outfits, the Hooters Girls were always professional, friendly, and entertaining.
Back in January 2018 I went to the Barcelona branch of Hooters, which was actually outside the city itself in the nearby coastal town where our hotel was. Given how Hooters is known in popular culture, the sight of a lone server, in a near empty restaurant was something of a letdown. The Hard Rock Cafe in the city itself was much busier the next night.
Hooters was so fun! Great atmosphere…good food…thank you gents for creating such a fun place. RIP.
I’ve been to Hooters at least three times- my first time being with my parents, who most definitely had a good sense of humor and rolled with it when I suggested it as a joke while on a vacation.
…it’s the wings, the wings are the real star of the show, and while the servers are incredibly nice, the uniforms have always been tacky and awful.
