The part you said you didn’t like towards the end is known in this genre as the break down. Almost every song of this genre has something similar. That’s why they did that to bring the pop goes punk into full effect.
I could tell she was uncomfortable when the “Don’t say I didn’t warn you” breakdown hit.... but it’s okay, not everyone likes metal. This was the cover and one of the singles that made I Prevail famous, and I’m glad she enjoyed it. Mad props for giving it a chance!🤘🏻🔥❤️

They also have a secondary reimagined version of Hurricane that you may like even more. But the "Hurricane" music video is worth the watch. iPrevail is such a great band
That part before the final chorus is typically known as a "breakdown". Aggressive breakdowns are a big part of this style of music and tbh I think it is an acquired taste.

There's a fun fact about Taylor Swift and especially this song - it is that the main songwriter of "Blank Space" is Karl Johan Schuster aka "Shellback" and he was formerly a melodic death metal songwriter and vocalist back in the mid-2000's. His last band was called "Blinded Colony" and they released a song called "Once Bitten Twice Shy" which is awesome - he does the vocals on this. I don't think you'd like it but it's fun to see how he went from one extreme to the other ;) - Also there is a music video for Blinded Colony - Once Bitten, Twice Shy !

You should check out stuff from Leo Moracchioli, he does metal covers of songs there were never meant to be metal. He is really talented. You would be surprised how well some songs adapt. I guess the song Africa is a good jumping off point. He has 350 or so covers from all genres.

There’s quite a few covers I discovered after the original and somehow they became some of my favorite songs. I really love Canle Car/ Over My Head done by A Day to Remember, rather than the Fray. It speeds up the tempo and makes it less depressing for me!
Honestly, I like this better, not that I hate taylor swift, I think her version is good too, but it lacks the.... emotions that this song really brings out. I feel like this version embodies the the words more. Sort of like Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel, great song, very melodic and a little airy and in my opinion light on the depth of emotions the words invoke, Then you look at the cover Disturbed did, which really embodied and took that deeper dive into the lyrics being expressed.

I've been in a toxic and violent relationship. It just hits a little more close to home.. and having said that I STILL listen to it... like a lot. Idk, really what I'm saying. Iprevail actually were a nobody band until this song. Once they released this cover, they blew up. I'm a big fan of them and a closet swiftie.
