my favorite "male group"..and there is no close second place. I think the thing that makes this group so awesome and legendary, is actually the thing that Eddie said near the end of the interview...and it keeps getting passed over for some reason, when this group is mentioned among other groups. And that is, The O'Jays sang about everything..at least, everything that we consider "societal"...things that matter in society, they sang about it. And it wasn't always "feel good" stuff, but the sound of their voices, made whatever they sang about, SOUND GOOD. They sang about love, obviously..and they sang about day to day life, obviously. But the tough stuff to talk about, is actually the stuff that made them stand out even more than the other groups that meant well, but were not willing to push the envelope, even a little bit. Groups like the Temps and the 4 Tops or the Manhattans.
So, when you hear "For the Love of Money", you heard their cautionary tale of what the obsession of "that mean, mean green" will do to you. But if you aint careful, you'll keep missing what Eddie says about how money will make a woman "sell her precious body, for a small piece of paper that carries a lot of weight"...thats DEEP....or when you hear them, unapologetically sing about 'African slavery", on the 'Ship Ahoy" album. So, their legacy shows them to be one of, if not the most versatile male group of all time, because they had no problem stretching the parameters, of what common listeners felt should be sung about.

The loud backdrop music was not a wise decision. Glad to see them .

I love your list except New Edition I wouldn't put them with this generation the Stylelistic would have been better because of the legacy and who payed the way for groups like New Edition, Silk, Boys to Men, Jodeci and many more in the 80s, and 90s era the O'Jays and other groups in they era are the blue print to the younger generation groups
