Wow, some of these comments seem a bit harsh. OK, it's not cheap, but I believe a lot of R&D went into its development. Martin has been around the flag pole quite a few times and the result has been many iconic and stunning giutars. Time will tell if this one makes the cut. My take, Martin, keep up the good work.
The primary design goal appears to have been to have a new product that they could differentiate from other companies' guitars by including features of questionable value or merit.
Martin's new 13 CE Series with the electric guitar friendly, asymmetric design is where I'd like to see Martin spend some money by doing what they did to the specs of this model. I think it would sell very well.

At $4000 this guitar is a joke. It doesn't sound anything like Martin. It doesn't even sound like a good maple guitar. Another expensive bomb from Martin.
yes exactly - they sold a BS tech solving problem that didn't exist with X-bracing - and made tons of money - Martin going down the saw prostitute's path
This guitar is an embarrassment for such an iconic company! Really good marketing idea with a terrible sound (see Taylor’s V-class bracing which sound equally thin and lifeless).
Lightning the braces makes sense but the pattern they used is not the most efficient way to do this if the goal is to maintain stiffness while lightning. Just doing spaced holes would work better or think of bridge trusses. They have an X in the pattern though. Why not all walnut back and sides for better sound? Some good ideas but it it is almost if this guitar was the product of a marketing meeting and they called in the product design guys later and said make it so.
Well it sounds just ok. Definitely not 4 grand ok. This would appear to be "innovative" just for the sake of different for sales and not better for sound or aesthetics. No pearl or gloss for pearl and gloss price. Maybe I am wrong and this thing sounds and looks better in person. Maybe a better approach would be to address QC issues on their standard models instead of moving in a direction they are not known for. This is marketing heavy and substance light. IMHO
Lots of buzzwords. Acoustics are hard to sell through a TH-cam video. Who knows in person it might sound absolutely beautiful, but until I see one in person I will be skeptical that that guitar will last. Who knows what 10 years of seasons changing or even just going from your house to a gig will do. Not every venue is exactly the perfect temperature and humidity. The amount of material cut around braces is what worries me most.

And do a proper set up to avoid buzzing when you’re demoing a $4k guitar haha. This is a $1200 guitar at best.

The fact that it is only offered in Sunburst makes me think that the environmental soundboards have defects hidden by the paint, instead of voicing each guitar sound board they slap on a piece of Walnut Backing which only increases the crosscutting by reducing the size of the maple boards needed for the back. The electronics are on board to make up for the fact that you can’t just mic this guitar in the studio because the maple guitar is not individually voiced.
