Great video. I'm really liking my Gatekeeper 1.9 proline flatiron xls slate & Mamba micro & stil lneed a smaller pinion.. Awesome job Joe. I'm going to have to try the proline trenchers... 🤜🤛👊👍
It crawls great with the stock esc and brushed motor. Truck needs a servo. I have the reefs raw 500 and hyrax tires and and wheels and she’s a beast. The reedy tunner card helps big time.
I like the difference that 1080 made along with the FlySky. I had similar on my Ftx Mauler (RGT Rock Hammer in the US) after i fitted a 1060 with a Dumbo Rc radio and receiver. I enjoyed the video a lot. Thanks for sharing and keep up the awesome work bud 👌😀
I built my Gatekeeper similar, but i added the following mods, Holmes Crawlmaster mini esc, there Team Spec Revolver, its the ultimate slow crawler combo for me at least. 14T pinion stock spur. The bowhouse LCG skid for element/SCX10.2. Swapped the axles for AR44's. Moved the battery up by the servo, I use 1500ma 3s or 4s depending on the motor i use. I also have a 1400kv revolver, that i also run. Got rid of the trailing arms and installed some Hardcore RC Hi clearance titanium links.Cheap Amazon wheels, I made some stainless rings for the wheels just to get some weight down low. i wrapped those in crawler innovation duel stage foams w/ jconcepts landmine tires. 2210 Savox brushless servo and samix rear shock towers. My goal was to make a comp style truck without having to buy and build a comp truck. My truck weights around 4.5lbs without wheels. It hangs with all my friends gspeed chassis rigs and is even a better rig in some areas. I absolutely love this truck!! Oh i also forgot, got rid of the cage and added a MST JP1 body!
I got the Sendaro HD 2 weeks ago and its super smooth and drag brake is pretty tight it will do a stoppie if let off to fast. I wanted the ecto but kept saying later in month. Put landmines on it then went to aluminum wheel with proline super swampers xl just because using as trail truck. Wish I would of waited on that one but birthday and xmas is coming. My screws in my beadlocks on Hd heads were stripped is other reason I didn't use factory wheels. Thanks for the videos!
Something tells me this one is gonna be one of "the greats". First (dare I say, mandatory) mods and simple tweaks...and it's a performer. And this is just chapter one! Great work dude! Gonna start calling you "ExoGuru"! Cheers
I love my gatekeeper I have 25%overdrive with a 10 t pinion and an 1800kv fusion it works perfectly for crawling and side hilling with lowpro shock mounts and different springs and shock oil and a full size forward battery tray and servo mount I have no complaints it works really well and it side hills at 60% so far
Hot Racing makes overdrive transmission gears for the front axle. I've got the 25% in my Gatekeeper. It's a little much for a non-comp crawler so I'm thinking about going back to the factory 11.8% setup, or just keeping a second tranny around.
I have a gatekeeper, i repositioned the shock to the axle, and removed the sway bar and dang is that thing low, it performs pretty well and now all I have to do is get me some trenchers 👀
Really like the truck, mite get the body for my gatekeeper, I thought the stock esc had a 7.4v bec already, the stock motor drag brake is not very good even on a 15t pinion running the option overdrive.
@@ExocagedRC I was just thinking of the part where you flipped out of the crack o doom. I think it would make it without it but I could be wrong. I like these types of series, seeing each change you make and how each rc improves is really interesting and helpful.
@@JXZ2 I have tried it without the swaybar. It helps with giving you more flex, but at cost. You will get a lot of axle wrap, which is where the rear axle will rotate giving you kinda a rear steer feeling with no control over it.
I know COG is key for a crawler, But it is possible to go too low? I noticed the truck was getting hung on a few obstacles. I also don't like to see that much dragging...
- Looks like the "Crack Of Doom" woukd be a great challenge for the TRX4 (with limited slip) with the locking & unlocking rear diff !!! 😲 I am thinkin' that the TRX4 would be able to pivot better than your new ELEMENT ECTO had attempted !! 🤔.... - What do ya think EXO !??? - Once again, thankyou for the great videos, I watch everyday, and always when you are running crawlers !!!! 👍😁🤘💪🇺🇸
I've always wanted to ask, is that area in a local park or did you build this on private property? It really cool. I have an half acre lot that I've considered building my own crawling spot.
Hello exocaged I have the ecto and trencher predators and 1080 with stock motor still. I have my own settings for the 1080 on trx4 sport but I was wondering if you would do a video on the 1080 to share and explain/why your settings on the 1080? Please? ... Also would you share your gt5 throttle settings? I also have one so I would really appreciate if you shared and did a video on those setups Thanks! Anyway love your awesome contents always. May the torque be with you
Hey man. Well the 1080 I have the PWM at 16 and not much else is different. Drag brake is auto on some of them. The gt5 has some expo on throttle but that’s about it.
It’s on the table. Not much more I can do besides shock oil and stay in budget. Tempted to just go ahead and install the motors, 1080’s new radio and see what it’s got
I’m curious how it would look on 4.19’s… I have the trailrunner but I’m due for a new body… so I’m not sure If the 4.19’s will look funny or if I’ll need to get some 4.75’s to go with the new body.
Hey great running show😎 what’s your thoughts on the ABSIMA Sherpa could you do a show on him also that’s great if you could I know it’ll be such a good review 😎💯😎🎯
Highly recommend trying that mod in the rear . It will sit low like that but won’t have so much torque twist on side hilling like you are seeing . I was amazed at how it fixed the little issue and made the truck very capable. When you lift your truck you notice how much up travel the rear has . That also equals torque twist . I’m telling you it doesn’t need any brass . Once you do that the front end stays down very well.
I want to get it to clear the Crack O Doom. Just knuckles would help, taking off that rollbar will help as well. One thing is about dropping the back, I don’t want any of that squatted crap look, at all, I can’t stand that stupid fad.
id like to see a rookies reaction to built crawler vs a stock crawler. Or a rookie uses a stock crawler then handed a stage 1 type mod, stage 2, to fully built comp spec. Im in no way discrediting your input.love the channel. Id just like to see a beginners reaction.
Can some one tell me why the motor leads are reversed? I changed mine back to red to red,and black to black. Then I reversed the throttle channel on my TX.I would also like to see the Element Ecto Trail with a Hobbywing Quicrun Fusion1800 SE brushless.
I changed out the 18t pinion to a 13t and the overdrive to the 11.83 and Hyrax tires, completely different Beast!! My new favorite rig..
I really like how you test out each mod and see the performance difference
I just picked up my ECTO after watching your videos. 👍👍 AWESOME rig!

Joe you can also run duel shocks on the back of your ryft and your sway bar if you mount your shocks inbound on the side of the back shock mounts.
Awesome video man and then EXO cage materialized lol that was awesome
I concur, the servo lasted a few runs on 7.4 till I replaced it. It's still good, just upgraded.
And sweet video. Nice work
awesome. Please test a smaller Pinion

Well read the comments You got lots of support Looking forward too much more Rc 💪
Kinda like trx4 & redcat gen8 tires; foam r so freaking hard, replacement of foam inserts to a softer compound is a must!

That's a decent truck. I think I would remove the sway bar for more articulation and to see if it improves the crawl.
I’ll try that but it works really good with it on there.

its my back yard
Will 2.2 fit on this rig without rubbing the body since I am pretty sure this rig will not qualify for SORRCA class 1 comps.
They will rub all kinds of things.
Holmes hobby 35T toque master fir the next motor?
no sir, I'm working on one with the 10t CM Sport vs the 10t CM Pro, both 550's with a 12t pinion.

@@ExocagedRC gotta lower the front too like I mentioned
Brass knuckles and diff covers, that's exactly what the Ecto needs. It's a lightweight truck anyway.
There's a company that makes a relocation kit for the motor that moves the motor forward by flipping it around I think you should tri it

Yeah BUT these trucks have a whole different kind of appeal to them. At least they do to me.

Mmmm too much roll…
No offense but I don't understand spending so much on a truck just to spend a lot more upgrading. Why not buy a cheap truck and save money.
Modding and upgrading is part of the hobby. Doing mods makes it your own vs just another truck.
Ec-toe nah 👎🏽
