I am shocked.. didnt expect much since its a tiny footprint. But man this is the future of "lands" in theme parks... even on camera it looks so immersive. I guess I will have to finally get tix to UOR when this opens over there.. I imagine the Classic Universal Monsters Land would have similar ideas implemented and be so sick.
Great run of vlogs recently. Was there Saturday for tech rehearsals. That land is EXTRAORDINARY. Between Wizarding World, Velocicoaster, and now this, Universal is absolutely doing phenomenal work. Great things ahead for Epic Universe. You gotta try the Mt. Beanpole cake next time.

If they ever plan on making it more than just Super Mario stuff, I'd love to see a Donkey Kong Country themed Mine Kart ride. Just like in the games. So many game franchises Nintendo could have brought into this. Ninja Gaiden, Mega Man, Kirby, Contra, Metroid, Ducktails, Banjo Kazooie, Castlevania, Zelda, Double Dragon, the list goes on. Some of those might require additional licensing, but I feel it would be so worth it. As of now it should just be called Super Mario World.
I saw it being built in summer, and it looked very small. I’m hoping the Epic Universe version will be a lot bigger. Should be- the Donkey Kong coaster there looks brilliant jumping over the gaps.
That land looks like nothing we’ve had before. How cool! I do wish that they wouldn’t have used the virtual screens in the ride though, as those make half of our family nauseous (including myself). We tried Remi and it was a one and done. I think I’ll avoid the Mario ride as well. 😫

Adam, Hunter and I discovered your vlogs when the Pandemic started. We love your vlogs! We both are big fans and Hunter is hoping to visit one day to the park. He attends college in Colorado but we live in Florida.
I grew up with Disney’s and Universal’s dark rides and theater/storytelling type of rides. Then the rides shifted more to rollercoaster, rapid motion type of rides. Now it’s screen rear projection and interactive rides. The ride structures seem to match up to the generations.
Regardless of what generation it is, dark rides with animatronics will always be my favorite type of ride and I want a return to them. Any mediocre or subpar regional amusement park like Six Flags has reasonably decent roller coasters and thrill rides, but they usually have crappy dark rides. Dark rides were the traditional strength of Disney and later even Universal. I truly hate screen based rides as they present a fake feeling experience as opposed to animatronic dark rides which use real figures and sets. Most people today look at screens enough in their day to day lives and don’t need or even want to also look at screens when they are on vacation or visiting a theme park. It’s possible to have interactivity with traditional dark rides. Horizons at Epcot had interactivity in that riders could select the ending scene of either space, sea, or desert. Ironically, these ending scenes were projected onto a screen, but the rest of the ride was still a traditional dark ride. Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin is a traditional dark ride with interactivity where a laser gun is shot at targets.

I’m old school, I love the creativity of the dark rides, of the audio-animatronics and the surrounding set designs, telling us a story, as we pass by. I know people’s attention span is quite short these days, so if this is what people want, then OK, but I’m not sure this is what people want? I go to a Disney park and gravitate towards the Haunted Mansion/NBC, Pirates, Peter Pan, Jungle Cruise, etc. rides, which the newer generations might find a bit lame, and they’d rather go to the more computer generated/enhanced rides. Another great video to put in the books. When Nintendo came out like the fall 84 maybe I was at college, during Christmas break her and her sisters got the NES with Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros. I think we always went to her home so we could play, then I got NES2 Mario kart, super Mario bros, Zelda, tetris, etc... I also remember loving a game called Yoshi's world that was either 2 or 3. Ahhhh those where the years. Have a good one you two, I love it when you 2 pair up.
I thought in America it came out in '85.....? Edit- Yup! Just checked and it came out October 18, 1985! And btw, there was no NES2 or 3. It was the Super Nintendo and then Nintendo 64. I bounced over to Sega Genesis after the NES. Then went to Sony Playstation and Playstation 2. Now as an adult, I have an Oculus Quest 2 now called META Quest 2 since stupid Facebook bought it out. I love VR and couldn't go back to normal gaming ever again.

Adam, great video!! Just a quick Pro-Tip for ya in case you go back or when you hit up the one opening in FL at Epic Universe (if you're allowed in)... When you punch the blocks, you do not have to actually hit the block with your power up band. You can use your fist and the coins will still register in the app because the power up band is within distance to the blocks you are hitting.
Land looks great. FWIW, you don't have to slam the watch against the box, you just have to have it on your wrist or close by and slam you hand against it.
I hear Charles, Samantha, Kenny and maybe Shigeru will be at the grand opening, so this is a great time to give Universal some extra cash so the park will be perfect when that happens.

The latest rumor is that a Donkey Kong themed roller coaster will be going where soundstages 7 through 11 current sit, which are behind Bowser's castle. Online chatter is saying it will get announced at the Nintendo World media day happening on February 17th.

We saw you. Had the same arrival time. I kept making awkward eye contact bc I’m losing my long distance vision and was trying to figure out if it was you or not. We ended up leaving without seeing the land bc the line was 2 hrs long. We got in line at 3:30

We use a bitbelt to keep the power bands on. I have to use them with magicbands too, they always pop off of my wrist.
