I’m 13 and today I got to see my moms grave for the first time. On her tombstone lay the words “you are my sunshine”. She used to sing it to me every night. Thank you.

I was born with deafness and tinnitus, my Grandmother Fannie used to sing this song and hold my head against her chest to feel the vibration of her voice. My deafness was corrected with surgery. What I learned about my Grandmother was her first husband died in a mining accident when she was 19 and left widowed with an infant. I honestly believed she sang this song about him. I can hardly fight back the tears when I hear this song and think of her.
My uncle died young and my granny sang this to me a lot growing up ❤️

I sung this to my baby 1 year old neice while she was taking her final breaths... she died May 8th 2019 on my moms birthday and in my arms...
Her name was Georglyn. She was born weighing only 2.5 pounds. She was very special from the start being named after her grandmothers Georgina and Evelyn. She was born almost all the way blind and she couldnt hear very well. She was also a special needs baby and couldnt eat properly so she had to have a feeding tube. She was the cutest thing ever. I love and miss her so much

He is starting to have some issues in his back, seeing him getting older and having problems is painful. I wish I could be in his place so he didn’t have to feel any pain. I cried and cried until I realized that everyone has their on problems like if someone went to heaven or if they lost their dream job but what's important is that if you have a family to support you but if you don't at least you still have your self because if you dont have any one at least you have your self so at least make the best out of it and that's why your gods or jesus sunshine but if you dont worship god or jesus you are a sunshine to your parents .

Mom would sing this to me whenever I couldn't sleep, was sick, had a really rough day, or had a nightmare as a kid. It's been a few years since she sang this song to me, but nowadays I don't get to see her as much, since she suffers from chronic migraines that come up nearly every day. I think that this is the reason that she feels like she's always doing something wrong, even though she isn't. Its okay that she can no longer make me lunch and supper each day. I'm a teen anyways, so I might as well start doing that myself. It's okay that she can't always go to my choir concerts. It's okay that she can't always give me a ride to school. It's okay that she can't always be there for me. It's about time that I give her all the kindness that she gave me, since she really needs it. I'm her sunshine, and she is my earth. I love you mom, and I'll always be there to help you get through this shit.

When I got married my husband sang this exact song, when his at work I put this song to play for me, I cried every time and thinking what would I do with out him when he dies.. thank GOD we are both alive. Like most people my mom used to sing this to me, unlike most people my mom died unexpectedly when I was 16, I remember when I found out that she died, how I was being taken care of by my youth pastor, and how he had this music box that played this song, and how I sat alone in a small room playing it over and over again thinking about all the good times I had with my mom as I cried and cried. Not long after, I met the love of my life, I remembered playing this for her on my guitar and her humming as I softly cried.
