Note to record buyers: If you find Abbey Road in the 2 dollar bin with the sleeve incredibly fucked up, most likely it will be scratched to hell and skip over half of I Want You and a lot of the Abbey Road Medley.
Needledrop I completely respect what your doing with your channel..your analysis and critique mixed with harsh and honest criticism along with the ability to go in depth on your reviews and opinions is why I enjoy watching..thanks Fantano for always keeping real
I really like this guy. He's not like other "vinyl collectors" out there because he truly knows what he's talking about. // Dear Anthony please make a "100 records in 1 minute" kind of video pleaseeee thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Anthony: If you take care of your vinyl, they won't become dusty, broken records Anthony, less than 15 seconds later: *Slaps record on hand multiple times*
I'm so over the top happy that you are doing these videos, I've been watching you for so many years now and have always been curious about your collection :D AWESOME man. Thank you.
I think the White Album is ironically called The Beatles because they didn't work as a group, kind of like a compilation of solo songs. However, Abbey Road is unmistakably their greatest attempt to work again as one, from vocal harmonies to the production of George Martin, etc.. imo
I'm just beginning my record collection but I'm beyond stoked on this vintage copy of the White Album i scored a few years back that has a serial number.
Looks like the makings of a good vinyl collection there. You mentioned avoiding records that are dirty. I would actually disagree, at least to a certain extent. Avoid records that are dirty if there are cleaner alternatives, obviously. But if it's a record you want, it's a bargain price, and you are prepared to clean it, then why not? I've taken chances on dirt cheap (pun very much intended) records before, knowing I'd run them through the spin clean, and they have played beautifully. I guess it's all about making that judgment call at the time.
just got the album in your icon today lol. only other album iv listened to by here is most of I Thought I was an Alien. Really enjoy how much she's developed since then
This is a great idea. I'd thought about doing something like this, but, alas...I'm still too lame to actually break down and purchase a digital camera. Anyway, looking forward to part two!
Awesome! This is a cool series. I just recently started a record collection a month or so ago, I've only got seven LPs at the moments but it's steadily growing and I've already got several of my favorite albums.
Something more to look forward to every week. Great video. I think it'll help me find some awesome music that I wouldn't have checked out otherwise. Thanks!
I've been listening to that Beach Boys Endless Summer compilation ever since I found it in my dad's vinyl collection when I was 8 or 9 years old. Still holds a place on my shelf today.
I'm 19 and well I am maybe not really collecting, but I have and buy vinyl records because I like the quality, the size of the record/art work/folder, the history behind the format and record if it is an old record, and to be at record stores and just search for records - but without searching for anything special. I like the element of surprise and just the idea of swimming in bigger sized records when it comes to music. I don't know it just makes me happier, whether it is an illusion or not.
Compared to CD's and digital, vinyl just has this warm fuzzy feeling you get when you listen to it and hold it. When I open a jewelcase I don't get the same feeling as when I open a gatefold vinyl. Also vinyl releases tend to have more art/bonuses than a standard cd
I really respect Fantano for doing this. There are actually serious collectors who watch his program, such as myself, who are very interested in seeing someone elses collection. And please dont ask him to show you how to set up a turntable, as previous comments have suggested. There is a plethora of videos already on youtube showing how, and I for one come here to hear a fresh opinion on music, dont waste his, and everyones, time. Keep up the good work Anthony. As always, I will be watching.
It's great that you're showing us your vinyl collection so far and future purchases, it's awsome to know that you own a pretty in tact copy of Abbey Road...I usually visit stores like Half-Price Books for older records, bu I've never found many Beatles records, other than a really scratched version of Rubber Soul that surprisingly plays pretty well. Also great to see that you own some Beach House, Bad Brains, and Fiona Apple's latest, can't wait to see the next video!
Very cool, thanks for sharing Anthony, now you're officially introduced to the vinyl community on yt ;) That animal collective is great, so is the new fiona apple/ Battles! The first one is awesome too! Great records, looking forward to the other parts. Cheers
Why not? It's his. Taking care of records is part of the appeal. I find it very rewarding and therapeutic. My records will be owned by someone else in the future (I hope) and I take care of them as best I can. People can't seem to wrap their heads around the concept of record collecting as a multi-faceted hobby.
Well the artwork for the covers and inserts are usually better because its a bigger canvas to work with. With original pressings, there's a certain satisfaction that you can only get by having the version of the recording that was available at the time. Lastly, with newer releases, most come with a voucher for a high quality digital download anyway.
This dude has gotta be the internet's busiest music nerd. He should start reviewing all these records

There is something so calming of anthony talking about his records
"Womaning the camera" sounds even more sexist.
He never did tell us what he thought about the White album. This is very frustrating
Come on, this is Tony were talking about. We all know damn well what he thinks about anything with "white" in the name.

It's just objective truth.

i like Abbey Road better.

Yeah cool man, but Abbey Road is not boring at all.
I think the White Album is ironically called The Beatles because they didn't work as a group, kind of like a compilation of solo songs. However, Abbey Road is unmistakably their greatest attempt to work again as one, from vocal harmonies to the production of George Martin, etc.. imo
She's been in a couple videos IIRC. Search for "Love songs we love" or something like that. She was also in Bjork's Biophilia review.
She's chill.
Lol love how he said "Beastie Boys" when it was truly "The Beach Boys"
i have my other beach boys stuff on CD. i have all my beastie boys on CD aside from the hot sauce committee, too. arcade fire = CD.

do you prefer vinyls over cds and mp3s? if so, why? do you think the quality is better?
Of course it's better quality... no comparison.
Yes, seriously. The uncompressed sonic quality of vinyl is far superior.
