I've noticed the flood of comments mentioning they would shoot & kill someone if they did this on their property... In most states when garbage is left by the road (which is owned by the city/town) it is considered public domain and 100% legal to go through. Most of the garbage we stop for is from bulk clean ups, foreclosures, unwanted items, and most home owners I have ever come in contact with are super cool and have sometimes offered to give us more of their unwanted stuff. We don't just stop at every random house and dig through their garbage like it may seem. If you own guns and are planning on shooting someone because they took your unwanted junk you belong in jail and don't deserve the gun rights offered to us here in the USA.

Amazing what people throw out. You could find enough every night to have a garage sale, or start a resell store. Pure profit...just the hard work of finding it.
I am a garbage man.I found a new wifi printer all it needed was ink.I found a $400 keurig just needed a kcup holder,love it.New model laptop broken screen hinges.Designer purses.Luggage.Shoes.Un opened bottle of wine. Plants I nursed back to life.Office chairs.Filing cabinet new shape.$200 sweeper just needed a belt,etc.

My mom won't let me go dumpster diving but I got a bike that was by a trash can across the street from my house and it looks like nothing is wrong with it.

This video is truly shocking. How could anyone throw away such good and workable stuff?? I really hope this video goes viral throughout the country. This issue of waste is disgusting. You are doing a public service by saving all of that stuff from filing a landfill. The absolute least that someone can do is bring their unwanted items to a local social service office. What have we become?? - That we waste perfectly good everyday items. Very sad!
Dude, I'm right there with you. my husband and I have been picking for 8 years now, both for scrap metal and things we could use or sell. We always make sure we don't make a mess. if the owner is around they usually give us more and we give them our business card to share with their friends and neighbors and get calls to pick up even more. No shame in the game. Recycle, Restore, Reuse!.

We buy stuff...we store stuff...we loose track of stuff..we buy replacement stuff...then we find the original stuff consider it obsolete and toss it out. And it appears we LOVE plastic stuff.

Omar I found your channels about 3 months ago and I am hooked. I lived in Port Saint Lucie for a year and went trash picking everyday. When we had to move back to Georgia we had over 100 fishing rods and reals. Really miss Florida. Peace and happiness to you and your family and enjoy your new home. Wouldn't even find gift wrap in the recycling bin at our house. We've been re-using the same gift wrap pieces over and over for the last 7 years. LOL Always post our give-away stuff on the local freecycle FB pages. We used to have to pay $3.80 per sticker for every can of garbage we put out, new system makes us pay $2.50 every time we put the 65 gallon can of garbage at the curb, so we try to keep as much good, re-useable stuff out of the dumps as possible. Honestly, it wasn't until people had to pay so much for garbage pick up that they really started thinking about how much they throw away.

Sevina Roseman wish more people were like you. I stopped buying wrapping paper years ago. I reuse, or just use the box or brown paper, and decorate it!

It is infuriating to see these things heading for the city dump; all of these things could have been donated to Goodwill, at the very least. What is wrong with our society nowadays??? Pitiful.
it takes gas to drive to goodwill and when your barely getting by its easier to throw it out vs wasting gas just to donate it and since its cant be deducted from your taxes its even more pointless to donate it. trust me at my work we now have to keep the dumpster, supply age, and gate to access the supply cage since the homeless keep dumpters diving just to look for food and then leaving the food everywhere on store property which makes us look bad because it looks like we just dump our trash all over the place so its the idiots that ruin it for the rest.
1) Many charities will come to your house and pick stuff up.
2) What are you talking about that it can't be deducted on your taxes; of course it can. All reputable charities will give you a receipt for your taxes.
its a select few charities in a given area and they wont drive out if its for known furniture items its that simple economics says if its not worth the effort then don't do it to save money charities still have to think like a business.
Stands the Goodwill throws a lot of the stuff away without going through it.

well its clearly all these people must drive and can bring certain good things to a thrift store to donate or some church! if not most thrift stores will pick up.like the term giving back to give back!

We are a throw away society at large! I am glad to hear you folks thinking of others as you find clothing and other items you think someone might like! How horrible of a person throws away 2 full bags of new condition clothes instead of donating to the homeless, Goodwill-which uses the donations to employ disabled persons, Salvation Army, St. Vincents DePaul, or any of hundreds of churches. That's just mean spirited.

Lovin'Life2016 goodwill is a terrible place. they dont pay handicapped people minimum wage. its more like a buck an hour. check out some research on them. u will be very surprised what they do and get away with it.
and if you look at the wages they pay the CEO of Goodwill they make a killing doing their job even the store managers make good money but they can't pay the workers well. they act like it goes to charity but more like it goes into the corporations pockets.

I would never go through a rubbish bin....I take my dog out in the garden so he can do the toilet. I pick his leavings and throw the bag in the bin outside our house. So you never know what other people put in their bins...mouldy food, used condoms, needles, used sanitary pads, used baby nappies....😷😷😷 the list goes on. "Dumpster diving" seems so gross to me, unsanitary and dangerous....

+Pistal666 Most people I have seen that see us going through their garbage are really nice and sometimes bring more stuff they don't want to us. We don't just randomly hit up every garbage either. Most of the time these piles are people making room and they know people will take some of their stuff.

That sounds cool. You must have great Neighbors. It's weird to see what some People will chuck away, not even taking the Time to drop it off at a Charity Shop. The laws over here have changed over the Years. If I was to take something like a TV or Chair to the Local Tip and they were in good condition, I would tell the Guy Working there that they were still good to use, these Days they tell me that everything has to be destroyed......it's crazy. Gone are the Days when we used to go and see if we could get some old Pram Wheels to make a Go-Kart :(

In Montana we call this alley surfing. We live in a college town and when the kids are packing up to move there is an incredible amount of goods that are left in the allies that are still useful and good. I have even seen personal computers and laptops in the allies. Happy surfing!

I go dumpster diving too. But I wear rubber gloves when going through the garbage. Never know what may be lurking in the trash. Some of my great finds are a day bed frame, student desk, wrought iron yard glider, dressers, glass table for the patio, lawn mower, and a bunch of random stuff. I live in a small town that has a University in it. Best place to look, the University when kids are moving in and out at the end of semesters. I go during the day time. Plus my town has 2 days every year that you can put anything out to the curb and people can recycle it.

When living in Fort Worth, TX I picked up over 60 riding and push lawn mowers every year. Most had nothing wrong with them. Made a lot of easy money reselling.

THE ABSOLUTE best place to do this is in Redwood city Ca. instead of going to a dump, each beginning of the month you can put any kind of junk or things out on the curb and the trash man will take it. Talk about mind blowing finds.
