Great list! I haven't been reading much adult fiction lately and I miss it! I have several of these books on my shelves and I'm excited to get to them now!
So glad to start seeing what people hope to read in 2024 and hoping to start seeing more what is read in 2024. Thanks. I read There, There for book club. For me I was bored😢
Daughter of fortune is a wonderful book, I really enjoyed it. Apparently the aunt is very good at keeping secrets. When you start reading the book you'll find out. The whole story is very unusual but so captivating. Middle game is unfortunately not a stand alone but part of a series. I wanna read it too but only after the series is complete.
Mercury- Amy Jo Burns, amazing!!! I read it in one day, couldn’t put it down. Small town familial drama of the deepest kind. I haven’t stopped thinking it about it 🤍 Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine- Gail Honeyman- also was a fantastic read! 5/5. 🧡
Fifty Words for Rain was one of my favorites of last year! Absolutely loved it. If you like sagas... following characters over a long pd of time, I think you'll really appreciate it. Loved Transcendent Kingdom and On Earth we're briefly Gorgeous. Ocean's writing is def unique and beautiful. The book also follows him as he explores his sexuality, and it's really fascinating to see life thru his eyes.
What an interesting pile of books you have! I too am going to read older books that I have to get rid of them for newer books later on. And by reading them, I will feel better about my bookshelves, some on Kindle too. I am feeling better for 2024 reading goals and reading list than I did for 2023; I only really liked seven books last year. So far I loved reading Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher which I have two more books of hers (rated her best) to read sometime. So far, I am really enjoying reading Stoned by Aja Raden (NF), Mystery in White: A Christmas Crime Story by J. Jefferson Farjeon (British Library Crime Classic) and an Illustrated Kalevale.
Hi Alice! I hope you love Daughter of Fortune as much as I did. I have had There There on my TBR for awhile. It might move up in priority since its follow-up, Wandering Stars, comes out in February. Sadly, I DNF'd On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous. I hope you enjoy it more than I did. ❤
omg I LOVE Middlegame! I mean.. it's even in my profile pic lol. I have yet to read the second book, Seasonal Fears, but plan on reading this year. The third and final one, Tidal Creatures, comes out later this year.. in June?.. at least I think it's just a trilogy.
I didn't love There There; my suggestion is to keep copious notes on the characters. There were so many young adult male characters -- they were virtually indistinguishable for me. I was really interested in the pow wow celebration, but I was totally lost by the end. I *loved* On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous! Vuong is poet, so his prose is so incredibly beautiful. This is his only novel, so far; but Night Sky With Exit Wounds and Time is a Mother are two of his more popular poetry books. It is a coming of age novel about a young man who is gay, and his relationship with his mother. And it is, indeed, gorgeous. 💚

Had Middlegame on my tbr for years, looking forward to your thoughts!

I’ll keep that in mind, thank you! 😃 and I’m happy you enjoyed the Vuong book!
Is the very secret society of irregular witches really worth the hype? 🤍🪄
I really enjoyed it! It wasn't a new favorite for me, but it was light, easy, cosy and had lots of fun magic in it
