      This generates high-frequency sound, and the dampening sleeve didn't work based on our experience.

      You are right. AirTag will alert iPhone owner. The purpose of this video is to use the AirTag to track your stolen item like eBike or car for a while. Even AirTag alert the thief (if he has iPhone) it will be difficult to locate the AirTag if you hide in a secured spot. Hopefully, that force the thief to leave behind the stolen item.

    Good tutorial, thumbs up!
    I'm wondering about an alternative, less invasive. How about trying a different way, I came up with something like this.
    Make a hole of about 3mm in diameter, in the center, in the plastic part (opposite the Apple logo metal shield).
    To make a hole, we use a precision drill and an appropriate drill bit, or a red-hot wire (melting plastic) - I would probably opt for the second method. Using a modeling knife, remove the warps created during melting. Now, heat up the glue gun firmly and quickly inject the glue into the hole. The glue should fill the entire chamber of the speaker, making it useless.
    Please write what you think about this. If you would like to do it this way, I would be very curious about the result :)

    • @Mashtips
      @Mashtips  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice idea. We are worried about punching the hole. There is a possibility to break the AirTag while doing this.

  • @biologicalhazard552
    @biologicalhazard552 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is the most inefficient method I have seen to achieve this. Why not make a small hole above one of the speaker wires and severe it? Takes like 1/20th of the time and you don't need glue.

    • @bigdog4574
      @bigdog4574 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because it’s a ridiculous idea, break plastic, not as resistant to water… doesn’t guarantee it would work

    • @notgort

      He showed me how to remove the speaker to use it as a cheaper solution to locate my vehicle in the event of it being stolen. Thieves can already remove the speaker after trial and error, it doesn't take a genius to do that. This video helps people like me do it in 1 shot without having to go through several air tags.
