Kanami became the 1st Japanese person to ever get a signature PRS guitar. At a special event, Paul Reed Smith personally presented it to her, and all the MAIDS were in attendance. It was very emotional.
J-LOD was a Japanese government initiative to help artists through the covid lockdowns. They gave grants to artistes to put out video's of their work. One of the stipulations was that the video's must be 5 minutes or longer in duration. Band-Maid have no 5 minute songs so they put out two songs on each J-LOD video. Both of these tracks were taken Band-Maids online concert livestreamed on May 10th 2021. Another great J-LOD video the Maids put out was "Manners" & "Black Hole" - it's worth checking out!
Different is very underrated. As for your take on Saiki's poppy singing... I think her voice and style best fits the description of Pop-Punk. Kinda like Sum 41 and Blink 182 style.
I like this song, I bought the Band Maid special edition of Young Guitar magazine mainly because it has the band score of this song. Although I am not a fan of this anime but I reckon the song matches the anime theme well as Miku literally used some of the dialogues in the anime for the lyrics but I wouldn't call it a "recent song", though. The songs in their recent album are more "recent".
Band-Maid studio version generally sounds poppier because of too much compression on vocals. Even the hard parts sound pop-punkish. It's a whole Different experience hearing Saiki sing live. She turns into a rock singer.
Boden Maddox , This is one of BAND-MAID`s commissioned anime songs , Different is for anime Log Horizon , 3rd season , MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin.
I think Different wasn't getting a lot of recommendations because it isn't one of those new Band-Maid listeners type songs. It's so chaotic and without a guitar solo. Personally, I love it because it is "Different" from what I used to listen to before! This was probably the 10th song for me with regards to Band-Maid. It totally solidified my love for them.
It's definitely one of those songs, like Black Hole, you have to listen to several times to get accustomed to it. Once you wrap your head around Kanami's whackadoo lead riff rhythm, it's just Akane's song, because she's DRIVIN' that thing.
Dice is just quintessential, hard rock Band-Maid at its finest. However, DICE isn't as different as Different is different. Nor is Different as dicey as Dice is dicey. 🤔But one thing's for sure... both are different as dice! 😉 Thx, Boden!
Different is a cool song, dense and musically interesting, but it’s so weird that I hesitate to recommend it to people who aren’t already into Band-Maid or really into prog. It’s not as immediately catchy as a lot of their other songs.
Familiarity with, and affinity for, prog rock/prog metal is necessary to get into some of Band Maid’s newer material from the last few years. Some fans have fallen off the band-wagon during this transition. As for myself, I just love them even more.

Hey thanks so much for this info 🤗👍🍻
This is yet another of their anime theme song commissions. This one is season three opener for Log Horizon.
This song was commissioned as the opening for the Anime Log Horizon and the lyrics reflect the storyline.

One of the craziest riffs you will ever hear

This like a cake mix, with Saiki (Lead vocals) the cherry on the top.

you're missing one thing. the live acoustic version of different. i mean how can you do that acoustic.... its band maid
The Maids dont really have a bad song, people just like some more than others
...or, maybe it's that Saiki and Miku can actually sing.

I enjoyed it. This will have been my 4th or 5th Band-Maid son.
