The media getting stuff before everyone was just plain stupid. We had Saturday morning slots and were able to get a few decent items, but anything super popular was gone (dice, backpack, jerseys, jackets, skateboards etc) all sold out before even many players were even able to get in. Bad setup by TPC to allow that, just ship them items beforehand or something.
