Agreed! I haven't actually put it in yet so It's not getting any more fixed in my draw but I miss it - you've inspired me to resurrect it in the new year. Watch this space for the return of the bracelet! lol
All edible, bar the wrappers of the lollies inside and the mat/tray it sits on! :-) If you have time could you please vote for us in the TH-cam on the rise program? Links and details in the description box below the video.
Hi - I started by experimenting with a passion for baking. I've got no formal training, but have done cake decorating courses (2-3 day courses mostly) with some of the best decorators in the world and have learnt a LOT over the past 5 years. I reckon I've spend $20K on courses all up, and I make wedding cakes, cupcakes and novelty cakes for a living so I get lots of practice :) I'm also starting a 2 year Pastry Chef degree next month so I will actually be a qualified Pastry Chef!!
Lol - it's kind of my little 'advertising' tactic. Kind of like, find me a reason NOT to like cupcakes :) Glad to have you on board - welcome to the channel! xx Elise
LOL - I have been making cupcakes for YEARS and only just though of it recently :) Sometimes the most brilliant ideas are literally staring you in the face! xx
I will - I have so many great giant cupcake ideas - it's just finding the time to film them all! I will pop up at least one giant christmas cupcake over the next few weeks for sure :)
Lol - That's exactly what I hope to achieve with this channel! Minimal work for maximum impact!- Glad your enjoying the videos so far - LOTS more to come xxx
I have an entire cupcake basics series on my channel, how to bake, carve, stack and frost the cupcake as well as a few decorating ideas for how to decorate your giant cupcakes :)
Hi Jessica, You can let it sit for a few minutes before using it it, and I would recommend using a spatula to scrape it up the sides. Dont worry if some parts are thicker than others, you can always add a little more chocolate to just those thin parts once the first and seconf layers have set - and they're never completely perfect thickness-wise :)
Hi - I would use red candy melts, rather than trying to dye the chocolate. You can colour white chocolate with colour paste (not liquid) but this is really only suitable for pastel colours :)
I will add it to my list - I love Tim Burton and I think pretty much anything he has done would look great in cupcake form! Look out for them in 2013 :)
Hi Cerise! Great ideas - welcome to the channel! I used regular chocolate (either melts or blocks are fine) but no chocolate chips. They are designed to hold their shape while baking and often don't melt as well :)
You can if you like, but the fridge can cause the m&m's to sweat and loose some of their colour - I'm on the Gold Coast and just keep mine in a col dry place - they are pretty good up to about 35 degrees but I guess I would put it in the fridge if it was a REALLY hot day :)
Hi - Most of the content I upload is original (so I think of it) but sometimes I come across something and I have to share it with you guys. If it's not my idea, I'll credit the original source :) And yes, I am a TH-cam partner :)
Thank you for posting! I gave my little sister one with yellow and red M&MS and some lindors chocolate inside the cupcake! She loved it! Thank you for this tutorial!
I used dark chocolate but you can use any type you like. I wouldn't use couverture chocolate though as it has a lower melting point, whereas compound (regular) chocolate will withstand higher temperatures and hold its shape better :)
Hi! I don't - I use a compound chocolate which doesn't need tempering. If you use a high quality couverture chocolate, you will need to temper. That being said - tempering isn't hard, it just take a bit of time and I can never be bothered - the couverture choclate is a nicer quality but definitely softer, and melts in lower temperatures than compound. I use Nestle chocolate melts most of the time, or a good brand of compound cooking chocolate :)
Sorry - I don't quite understand? if you mean while it is setting, the chocolate will dribble down a little, but that's why we do the double coat - does this answer your question?
If you want to top a cake with giant cupcake, make sure you support the weight of the giant cupcake underneath with a cake board, and some wooden stakes through the bottom tier of cake so it doesn't fall through. You could also just make a hollow chocolate cupcake using red and green candy melts and sit that on top - it would be a lot lighter :)
Hi - Just use straight cooking chocolate or any chocolate you like. Even blocks of chocolate is fine. If the chocolate is very thick when melted, you can add some shortening (like a hard brick of white/clear vegetable fat) to think it out a little bit but most chocolates wont need this :)
You're right - this was compound chocolate, not couverture (which needs tempering). The non-shiny finish is caused by the silicone mould being peeled away and taking and shine with it :)
About a week - just cover it lightly in some foil or some plastic wrap so no bugs get on it, but don't refrigerate it as the m&m's may run and loose their colour. You could fridge it if you wanted, and just add the big red 'cherry' and m&m's on top the day before you want to serve it. :)
For prime condition make them a day or two before - you can make them about a week in advance- just cover them lightly in some foil or some plastic wrap so no bugs get on it, but don't refrigerate it as the m&m's may run and loose their colour. You could fridge it if you wanted, and just add the big red 'cherry' and m&m's on top the day before you want to serve it. :)
Hi - I havent tried with the metal moulds and I usually recommend no, BUT if you do try and it works, let me know so I can pass that info along to others - I get asked this pretty often but don't have a metal mould to test it ;)
You can use any chocolate! But if you use white chocolate make sure you use a new or REALLY clean cupcake case as any dirt/grease or marks will show up on white :)
i can't thank you enough for showing me how to do this!! i have made this twice for different occasions to bring to school and everyone has loved it! it was fun to make and fun to eat and most importantly, fun to smash!
this is amazing, i have just made two, your videos are so easy to follow and the results make me look like I know what I am doing! I am impressing friends left right and center thanks Mycupcakeaddiction keep them coming!
Hi My 2 boys and I love your channel, we have just made this in white chocolate for my Husbands 40th birthday filled with his favourite choc's. We also made the pinata cupcakes. My only comment with the giant pinata is watch the consistency of the chocolate - the first layer I started the choc was far too liquid still. None the less it worked out fine and was very impressive when finished. What a great 'hit' :-) thank you.
hello I'm from the Caribbean where it's very warm and chocolate melts very easily, you mentioned not to store it in the refrigerator but do you think I should considering the climate?
Hmmm, perhaps you are adding a little too much copha or shortening? Try adding less (if you are adding it at all). Also, the first layer will slide the the bottom a little (but the top shouldn't crumble) I use a spatula to spread the chocolate all the way up to the top of the case. With the second layer, it should set quicker than the first because the cold first layer will be underneath helping it to harden so just let it start to get a little tacky, and spread the chocolate to the top again
you have the best baking videos by far! You are so organized! um could you try to make a cupcake with a another mini cupcake on top made out of anything like fondant that would be very helpful!
I'm going to make this for my friends birthday this weekend! SUCH A GREAT IDEA! and perfect for picky friends who aren't big fans of cake! :) Thank you!
Awesome! So glad you made this one! And glad she liked it! Thanks for tuning in :)

Oh My God - You are a genius! What a great idea - if I make a video I will totally owe this idea to you! Thanks for the inspiration! xx

Oohh, I'm doing a giant christmas tree cupcake in the next week or two - I will make it a red velvet one!!
I will add it to my list - I love Tim Burton and I think pretty much anything he has done would look great in cupcake form! Look out for them in 2013 :)

I would use a big spoon and just give it a few good whacks - or a rolling pin! That wold break it no problems! xx
Yup - I LOVE chocolate!!!
OOhhh, that sounds DELICIOUS!!!
Haha, there will always be at least one - not yet but there are always people who can't help but press that button! Glad you're not one of them :)
MMM, me to! Delicious!
Hi Fanny Wassdahl.
If you buy the mould watch the video you will have one all to your self!
:-)

Thank you for posting! I gave my little sister one with yellow and red M&MS and some lindors chocolate inside the cupcake! She loved it! Thank you for this tutorial!
LOL - It was a lot of fun!
Hi - yes, you could use white or milk. If you use white, make sure the cupcake case is spotlessly clean as every little mark will show up :)
I used dark chocolate but you can use any type you like. I wouldn't use couverture chocolate though as it has a lower melting point, whereas compound (regular) chocolate will withstand higher temperatures and hold its shape better :)
You can make it will dark, white or any colour of the rainbow!
:-)
Oh my god - Now I am drooling! Awesome idea :)

This is possible the most amazing thing I have ever seen!
Of course! and delicious :)

Thanks Vj Red,
Thanks for writing in.
Elise
When I made this I frosted it with white chocolate and used oversized sprinkles. Worked wonderfully!
I absolutely love this idea and will use it as a birthday presentation or gift giving.
Hi - I havent tried with the metal moulds and I usually recommend no, BUT if you do try and it works, let me know so I can pass that info along to others - I get asked this pretty often but don't have a metal mould to test it ;)
I use melted chocolate - so it's warm as it's just been melted. Its not a paste, its actual hard chocolate which has been melted to make it soft :)
Wow. I've been wanting to make one of these for ages. Thanks for another great tutorial. Can't wait for the giant red velvet
Never would have thought of doing that with the cupcake mould :) great idea.

I love how you were able to do it in only one take! (except for a couple small times :)
Hi My 2 boys and I love your channel, we have just made this in white chocolate for my Husbands 40th birthday filled with his favourite choc's. We also made the pinata cupcakes. LOL - that's because it's ALL about the cupcakes on this channel :)
It would take some engineering and thought but yes i think you could do it!
Maybe a TH-cam tutorial made by you Nicole?
:-)
Let me know how you go
I've got that cake mould, gotta make this! Great video
Yes, white chocolate will work fine but make sure you use a new or REALLY clean cupcake case as any dirt/grease or marks will show up on white :)
Love it! I never would have thought of it. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Great Idea 1hellopatti!
Just as chocolate you buy in the store is not melted, just keep the Pinata in an airconditioned room if required and it will be fine.
:-)
Elise
Haha I love my mom and all but you would be the best mother to have during birthday parties!
Has been done!
Check out our channel!
5:21 2 bowls made 100 percent completely out of... CHOCOLATE???!!! Omg sooooooo yummy! Who doesn't love chocolate!?
if you use green candy melt on the top and brown on the bottom you have a candy Christmas tree and then the M&M's as Christmas balls is very cool
Great idea
And use some oreo crumbs as some decoration
You should - amazing profession :) I'm not even a proper baker yet - just someone who loves to cook - lol

Lol - its one of the names for a cupcake case or cupcake liner here in Australia :)
Sure - you can use whatever sort of chocolate you like :)
I'm going to make this for my friends birthday this weekend! SUCH A GREAT IDEA! and perfect for picky friends who aren't big fans of cake! :) Thank you!
