Really cool story and build! Reminds me of using NAPA rattle can grey primer to paint my 68 Fairlane in the driveway. Probably about the same time as you did yours.😁
Lookin' fantastic. You need to start practicing with that airbrush. Such a great tool once you figure it out. Single action are easier than Dual action... but dual action allows for more fluid control and natural look. You might want to get a single action because of ease of use. You can dial in the spray pattern with the front nozzle to keep it the same.
@squishy312 I have a single action I used for restoring old Hot Wheels, I just hated cleanup lol. I intended to paint this one like I did back then, which is why I used the rattle cans. The next couple builds will be a step up 👍
Interesting story about your race cars. Our 69 Camaro got us so much heat at the track. Guys were running Cutlass's, Chevelle's and Nova's, but no one was dumb enough to cut up a Camaro. Well, I'm a Ford guy so that didn't matter to me. One thing we did with our doors, since we gutted the interior of the door we welded the skin on from the inside. Nice build!
@LarrysModelShop thanks! Welding inside would look clean. We were heavy on contact, and not smart enough for door bars, so we built them alot like a demo derby car, some of the cars were actually old derby cars with the rollbar added after they derbied them.
@@BigSkyModelWorkshop We used black pipe for our cage, to include exterior door bars. Our car got hit super hard at an angle from the passenger side right in front of the rear tire. Pushed the top of the cage out of the driver side of the car. That ended that.
What's a build without a back story. Thats is what makes a build exciting to me. You did a really nice job on this one , perfect colors cant. It reminds me of a old Monte race car i use to have and it had wheels simulator. I remember cutting the fenders off of it so the tire can show more 😅😅😅. Did i hear you mention "VoTech" ?
Cool build and a great story. Thanks for sharing.
