  • Good staging follows concept follows the core of the song and feels the artists, but that would not be enough and this staging shows, that all the aspects can be mastered at once. Maybe even more than you thought!

Eurovision is my passion. Eurovision was my work and I am still gladly part of the professional community of this project. I started at Eurovision 2016 as Czech Head of Delegation. Such a Eurovision story! Form Eurovision in Sweden I went to antoher ESC experience. Kiiv 2017 Eurovision. This was my first and last failiur. Sometimes you need to learn trough losing even it is not plasant. We ended up 13 in the semifinal, second best score of Eurovision Czechia back then. But after this we established ESCZ national selection format. It was mostly held online. Because of this we found Mikolas Josef who went 6th at Eurovision 2018 in Portugal. Than 11th with Lake Malawi, at Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Eurovision story is crazy. After finding all candidates and songs (-1) for ESCZ 2020 I resigned and left the television for working freelance.
Not to stop being part of Eurovision, I created this channel as I have an urge not to do just Eurovision Reactions from a different perspective. But also to do national selection reactions, watch others how they do their craft and also give a different approach for Eurovision fans.
I am very glad was part of many eurovision juries. Mostly in national selection and since 2017 I was in MGP Norway, Eurovision Malta, UMK national selection Finland. Juror in Melodifestivalen 2016. Biggest national selection. Also helped Eurovision Ireland, Eurovision Estonia, Eurovision Azerbaijan and many others.
Just amazing to be part of this community, so check my Humans of Eurovision, check my Eurovision reaction videos.

He also did kiss his finger and point up right before the show, also with rehearsal, which is wholesome i think. You can see that on footage people took, he did it during the intro.
Joost gives an really strong passionate artist vibe, and is good in putting a lot of detail into his stuff. And making very happy catchy songs about heavy personal topics

The projection of Joost on the stage floor in the beginning is brilliant. It's a cube folded open and flat. Fans are printing, folding and making cubes of Joost's head. It's so funny. Everything has a purpose. Really clever.
What Joost is "selling" is his own sad story in a happy song. There are lot of emotions. When he was looking angry, he was singing nobody was helping him when he was feeling pain. His expressions are telling the story because the lyrics are Dutch and almost nobody watching knows Dutch.

Joost is always making his own visuals for his shows. So I think he has a hudge involvment in this proces with lighting and everything. Joost is a true artist and he is really smart and a perfectionist. Great job!

The more I find out, at how much work they had putt into it and how perfect it was, it hurts much more what happend. They really robbed him, and his team. 😢💔.

@@JanBorsI'm Dutch and naturally I was sad, angry full with unbelieve etc. The hardest part was I could'nt explain to my grand kids why he was disqualified. We still don't know what exactly happened. We can only wait and see. I have a strong feeling though that the EBU overreacted. The Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS, also has a strict policy on this subject. If they say it was a disproportional action from the EBU, I tend to beleive them.

@@marcelrenes2435 imo SVT was highly involve as in Sweden such things are taken very seriously, especially if he broke a camera and police was included. The general behaviour he had probably did not help but if he will be found not guilty, than responsible organs should pay very serious money and huge public apologize to both Joost and Avotros. I am very curious if we'll ever find details as this now is not a public thing at all.

Great video, really enjoyed your analysis! Of course you showed me things I hadn’t noticed before (the light beams exactly on the shoulders for instance), so that was also great.
The production was on a very high level this year, the stage was fantastic… but for me, the light design was from another planet, that was my favourite part of this year’s show.
So I feel very validated that you pay so much attention to how the lights were used during Joost’s performance as well.
But this video of the performance, as good as it is, doesn’t fully show how amazing the light design really was, because they also have to show what’s happening on stage of course.
I would recommend watching this performane from Kubas Eurovision (‘front view’ he calls it)
It is filmed from the back of the Arena, so you can see the full effect of the light show. I think it very nicely complements the official video 🙂

Thank you. I will reply especially for the last. As you can have two points of view, one is television(which is mine) as this project is made for television and I actually dont care much about how it looks anywhere else than TV. There is my audience. Than you have concert look. But this is another discipline and this is were some look at and imo this is the biggest television mistake, you can do if you create for cameras. Imo exactly what did Czechia this year. As this must have looked fantastic in the arena. But yes, Malmo had amazing technical quality, for me almost the same level like 2016 in Stockholm which is still for me the best one ever by far.

just a quick question, how would i get into stage design ? what university course would you recommend me to take ?
i plan to major in design or visual art, and stage design is a huge interest of mine and im considering making it a career.
    love from australia !

Hey, thx and to your question - if you mean stage design - means stage creation, than most people studied architecture. Fot the DOP job, lightning and cameras are mostly the art / film schools. For graphical part idk - probably many options and the rest - you dont need a school. Me myself learnt all by practice, I have masters in Marketing Communications 😂

@@accordionp In the Netherlands, we have specialized Theater Schools and they do everything you asked for, and then some. And most likely some teach in English, so perhaps that's something to look into and consider.
