There a couple of ironic things in a way are easter eggs. Dennis Lawson the actor who plays Wedge is Uncle to Ewan McGregor who played Obi-Wan in the Prequel Trilogy. 1. They both fly the Jedi Starfighter. Obi Wan's droid is R4, Wedge's droid in the game is R5. Really cool putting all that together. The team putting this mission together did well. It was obviously a way to advertise on ep.2 at the time but all and all a cool mission.
+Timo B Whoa, I didn't know that. Does that mean there's still the possibility of Wedge showing up in Episode 8+ :O He's only 68 and still looks great. He could be a fucking pilot still. I mean, the character Wedge lived through the entire original trilogy, and canonically never died anywhere so...
I just love Wedge's amazement of Clone Wars Era tech. LAAT/I Gunships, B1 Battle Droids, Delta-7 Aethersprite Interceptors and Seismic Charges! And even a downed Core Ship in the background. Some of those Stormtroopers on the ground probably had PTSD (If any of them were Clones) when they saw those Battle Droids. And its now Proven that 1 Rebel Pilot is worth 50 Soldiers.
Bump. Unfortunately, in the events of the original trilogy, all of clones within in the Imperial army was completely replaced so it's unlikely that all of the storm troopers were clones from the Republic/Clone Wars Era.
@@Hardrian_Hardrada_Cicero Not all Clones were retired. Some stayed on as Stormtroopers as late as the OG Trilogy era. These would be the last generations however. Most if not all of the generations that fought in the Clone Wars were definitively retired by 5 BBY. Meanwhile the latest possible batch (If trained) would be combat ready by 9 BBY. Assuming that the Empire bothered to train all the remaining Clone Cadets and fetuses extracted from Kamino before the Aerial Bombardment of Tipoca City (Why wouldn't they? @@richardched6085 "Plus this game is in Legends" That really pisses me off for multitude of reason and is mainly thanks to Disney themselves. Still, interesting read, nonetheless.
I enjoyed the ground level of this mission quite a bit when I was playing it - the music, the atmosphere, Stormtroopers fighting battle droids, and a LAAT gunship. But thinking on it now, I can't imagine how terrifying it must have been for the stormtroopers. Think of it like this: You've just escaped the destruction of the ship you're serving on and crashed on an unfamiliar planet. Soon after you get out of the escape pod, you're attacked by B1 battle droids, symbols of the hated and feared Separatists, for no other reason than it's their programming. You may have better weapons and can think creatively, but they're more numerous and have been battle-ready for 25 years. Then, to top it off, not only does your commanding officer abandon you, the pilot of the ship which destroyed yours crashes in the same canyon as you and starts shooting at you. In short, those stormtroopers were literally fucked.
I assumed it was the Delta-7 Aethersprite left behind by Obi-Wan. Maybe R5 found a few Undetonated Charges in space left behind by Slave One and used them
I know. That was an awesome reference to Attack of the Clones with Obi-Won's old starfighter. I didn't know that at first till I thought it through and I was like 😮 IT IS Obi-Won's starfighter.
I was always curious as to how Wedge immediately recognizes that crashed fighter as a “Jedi Starfighter”. The Alliance’s vehicle records must go pretty far back in history. On another note, if Wedge knows what a “Jedi Starfighter” is how would he not recognize the ship chasing him as a “Republic Gunship”? They’re both from the same era.
Good point. I assume that the Delta-7 was highly publicized (Even by the Empire) as it was a Technological marvel of it's day. About the same speed as the modern RZ-1 A-Wing with relatively strong Blaster Cannons and high maneuverability. Jedi Pilots were capable of increasing the Shield strength of these Fighters by a factor of 6 (Some Force power game mechanic lol) Obi-Wan used this ability to absorb quite a few hits from the Slave One (Hits that would have absolutely obliterated the thinly Armored Fighter). It was less effective in the hands of Clone and average human pilots (Wedge is the exception apparently). Like most small scale Starfighters of the era the Delta-7 lacked an onboard Hyperdrive and required a Booster Ring. They were phased out by the more durable and powerful Delta-7B (Which was more "Conventional" in it's construction). Very few models existed after the Rise of the Empire. The RZ-1 A-Wing was largely based on the Delta-7 Aethersprite and the Alpha-3 Nimbus V-Wing.
The A-Wing was modeled and based off the Delta-7 Jedi Starfighter. I'm sure Rebel pilots were told that when training with an A-Wing and knowing Wedge piloted an A-Wing, wouldn't be surprised if the A-wing's controls and functions are similar minus the Delta-7 not having proper sensors since Jedi didn't need them.
the Jedi starfighters were in use for a much longer period of time than the republic gunships. The Delta-7 was in use for decades before the clone wars , while the LAAT was in use during the 3 years the clone wars lasted and was abandoned in favor of sentinel landing craft only a few years after the clone wars ended.
They actually are not capital ships, they said that in the voice line but thats clearly an error on the games part. They are approximately 150M long, the same size as the CR90 blockade runner. That's why they act like a corvette, bc thats what it is. It's 10 times too small to be a capital ship.

+soldiersigma507 Kuat Systems Engineering was responsible for the designs of that Jedi Starfighter (called the Delta-7) and the A-wing. The A-wing is indeed inspired from general Republic starfighter designs during the Clone Wars. (Source: Wookiepedia)
+Sapheiorus Fun fact: the man who designed the A-Wing is the father of the woman who designed both the Imperial Star Destroyer and the Super Star Destroyer.
+soldiersigma507 The Fighters used in the Clone Wars TV show (season 1 episode 3 as an example) look a lot like Y-wings. And that show is officially Disney canon so... I can only imagine Jedi/Clone fighters are the primary source of Rebel parts for building ships.
"Hang on, R5"... So which is more likely--that he managed to cram R5 somewhere in that flat-hulled Jedi starfighter (I'd like to point out that according to old EU, the ships had little cargo space and that astromechs had to be stripped down and rewired in order to fit in the slot), or that he left R5 behind?
Not that it matters all that much because you got the job done pretty well but I always love to use the Slave 1 on this to tear apart that gunship in mere seconds. Just barrel roll and button mash the sonic mines. Looks awesome as well XD
Until the Clone Wars Retconned this. Geonosis was completely abandoned after Episode II Attack of the Clones. Hence Wedge's confusion on why anyone would want to go to that dead planet.

I remember seeing that you could exit the ship and thinking it was awesome, and then being let down so much when I played a demo at the store that I ignored the launch.
1:00 RIP Rescue Transport One
Getting some serious nostalgia right now lol
on of my favorite missions
that rebel just stole an abandoned obi wan jedi star fighter
Your missiles are no match! I ate a bowl of missiles for breakfast! 4:18
1:49 I'm losing control. *Flying through an astroid and crashing on Geonosis*
the jedi starfighter is obi-wan's - what is interesting is that the actor for wedge is the uncle to ewan mcgregor. just something interesting i thought you should know
1:48-1:50 the Warp overtook Luke for a brief moment there
Wedge Antilles, not Luke.
This should be featured on a new animation series or flashback scene in the next starwars film.
It's pretty bizarre that despite being the big Prequel Trilogy reference level of the game, that Factor 5 used their usual in-house music as opposed to John Williams' Attack of the Clones soundtrack.
this needs to be a starwars rebels episode
Their should have been episodes like this on starwars rebels. Sarkli should be a playable character in this game gets remastered.
1:39
That ship's guns were firing *even as the ship exploded*
This Game made me a Wedge Fan when I first played it
I'm still waiting for Rogue Squadron IV. Battlefront doesn't work for me like these games did
now that i think about it , are the a wings designed by the rebles based on the jedi starfighter that wedge found?
+soldiersigma507 Kuat Systems Engineering was responsible for the designs of that Jedi Starfighter (called the Delta-7) and the A-wing. The A-wing is indeed inspired from general Republic starfighter designs during the Clone Wars. (Source: Wookiepedia)
+Sapheiorus
Fun fact: the man who designed the A-Wing is the father of the woman who designed both the Imperial Star Destroyer and the Super Star Destroyer.
HolyknightVader999 is that even canon
*****
It's the old canon, but to us, it's still canon.
Walex Blissex and his daughter Lira were some of the best starship designers around.
This reminds me of watching Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones.
Hey that giant sphere is a separatist core ship.
What is that rebels X Republic and Empire X CIS
I always wonder why that LAAT Gunship was abandoned.
Until the Clone Wars Retconned this. Geonosis was completely abandoned after Episode II Attack of the Clones. Hence Wedge's confusion on why anyone would want to go to that dead planet.
Rebels changed it back. It's now a barren planet and everything on it is dead except for a few remnant droids.
***** In Empire at War the Geonosians were part of the Rebel Alliance. Only to be wiped out a second time
Damn
If you play Battlefront 2 (2005) the rebels had LAAT Gunship.
If this is still canon, how did Obi-Wan forget his Jedi Starfighter after the Second Invasion of Geonosis? You went there a second time and still left it.
2:21 when you pick up an invincibility power up in doom
Funny how sarkly says Ron coward run, yet he’s in a spaceship while wedge is on the ground with a blaster
Oh God, I forgot about the bad ground combat
Hentai Tensai the smile that appears on wedges low polygon face as he mows down legions of battledroids and storm troopers
Better than Clone Wars 02's ground missions. Man, were they bad.
Wedge did it before tech.
Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike - The Battle of Geonosis (Galactic Civil War)
Why does Obiwan’s ship have Seismic charges? I thought it was only the slave 1
The last ghosts of Attack of the Clones.
God damn, the Jedi Starfighter was freaking broken.
