    Could you make a video of this machine on the delicate cycle at some point?

      I'd be happy to put that one on the list of videos! Look for it later this Spring.

    That's very similar to mine, A 96 Dependable Care Plus, just the newer version. Still seems to do a good job.

      I _wish_ this was the Dependable Care platform! In 2003, that's what I thought I was buying. It's a Norge in disguise though. These are often referred to as a Norgetag. Though cheapened down, still a decent washer.
      Your '96 DC washer is mostly mechanically identical to my 1979 Maytag A106, with the major exception being the transmission. Mine has the pitman version, and yours the orbital version. Both use a helical shaft to go between agitate, and spin, depending on rotation direction of the motor. Many parts will interchange between the two. Dependable Care was so good, it was in production around 50 years. In 2019, to celebrate 40 years of faithful service, I completely disassembled, and restored every part of my A106. While doing all that work, I gained quite an appreciation for the design. Hopefully it's good to go for another 40.

      We're taking ours when we move, and keeping it in good shape! While we don't have the matching dryer, we do have a 1985(?) Maytag FabricMatic electric dryer, black control panel, push buttons, the whole 9. It's also coming with us.
      I don't know if you know who Emerson Collie is or if you've seen his washer, but are yours and his built on the same platform? I wonder because there's only a 3 year difference, but they look totally different.

      That's a great call bring those Maytags. I don't have experience working on Maytag dryers, but the washers are easy to work on. The only two special tools required are the brake removal too, and a spanner wrench for tub removal. I had mine torn down, restored, and put back together in three days. I also did a restore on our 1977 Kenmore gas dryer a few years ago, and it's working well. Spats, and Harley have the matching 1978 Kenmore washer. We used to have one just like it before the Maytag. Not sure why it got replaced, since it would have been only about 7 years old at the time.
      Yep, I've been subscribed to Emerson Collie for many years. He has a MAV, and I have a PAV. They are the same mechanically, his has more options than mine is all. Much like your '96, and my '79 Maytag. They may look different, but the are pretty much the same, internally.
      Emerson Collie, Harley Badger, jaykay18, and myself are all roughly the same age. We haven't met personally, but shared many of the same experiences growing up.

    • @isaac24
      @isaac24 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep they're coming with us.
      I figured, since his washer is similar. Spats and Harley used to have the almost identical twin to our washer and the gas dryer, but since ours is the Dependable Care Plus, it has a quick cycle, and an infinite water level instead of ex. small, medium, large, and ex. large.
      First up on my list is to visit jaykay18, him and I know each other pretty well, and talk often. When the pandemic is over, maybe we'll make the drive over there. Next is Harley (and Spats) since I've been fans of them for over 4 years.

    Norgetag. Not as good as the Dependable Care Maytags but infinitely better than any HE machine ever will be. There were Dependable Care machines bearing the Performa name. My grandparents have a matched set of them. Performa brand but under the hood is 100% Dependable Care. I believe they are from around the same time as this one. I really ought to take a video of them at some point. No repairs on them since they were new and I'm sure they will continue to work for many years. This machine I'm sure will last a long time too.

      @dynatrak 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, I would have loved to had the version your Grandparents had, but at the time, I had no idea what was going on behind the scenes at Maytag. I'd like to see a video if you get a chance. All they need is probable some routine maintenance at some point., such has checking the rollers, and spring on the motor mound, and possible greasing the damper pads. Not much to go wrong with them.

      @@dynatrak I'll do what I can, but it will be a long time before the opportunity presents itself. I really have no idea what was going on at Maytag. I've seen a few Automaticwasher posts about it and these were sold at the same time. I'm assuming the DC machines were sold as the deluxe models and the Norge version was the budget model.
