Watching them perform is such a wonderful experience because they obviously really enjoy their art and they are really loving it and feeling it with their entire being, not just doing it to pass the time. It's such an emotional experience for us viewers as the audience too because we feel like we're just swept into the whole production of it even though much more passively. Every part of me is singing and screaming and dancing with the rhythm and the melody and the emotion of their performance. I'm not a wordsmith of any sort so I can't express what I mean properly.
I am going nerd out for a second. I have been watching this back and fourth and gotta say, whoever is their guitar/gear tech has a fun job. I wanna say they all have a Line 6 HX stomp XL or some kind of effects processor (Like the Kemper foot remote/profiler because they had kempers on their ig stories when they were filming this) for all of their pedal board functions and each preset is manually changeable on the fly (in 2011 after the chorus going into the verse there is a tag where Luke's guitar has more dirt and drive to it before it goes back to the phased, chorusy, modulated reverb effect is has going on for verse). The boards themselves are pedaltrain jr's ( I use the same board). I assume the Orange box is more than likely their DI's and it looks like they have channel loopers mounted to the back as well. I remember Michaels live when he said someone dropped that Blue Gibson Es-335 (I believe is the model) off at his house for the shooting of wildflower and never gave him any instructions of how to return it lol. That is dope because like as the C A L M era was starting or maybe even before that look got his red Es-335 and the fact they both have one is sick. Michael has always been a Gibson guy besides the white strat he plays on the rare occasion. Luke is playing his White tele deluxe with the wide-range humbuckers I believe. He has a black one as well but the only difference I can tell would be maybe the pick ups are little different, and his black one has the big 70's style headstock opposed to typical tele headstock on his white one (which I prefer). Cal is playing his fender P bass and that finish is sick. I saw a string tree and some other maybe potential wraps around the D and G string. Probably break angle fixing for tuning stability. Also The Moog, we love the moog for the ambient synth bass is the pre-chorus before that THUMP comes in. Seriously I envy their tech, just getting to talk gear with these guys about what they like, and what they prefer or what they may want to make things easier (no freaking pun intended) for them on-stage. I would kill to intern or work under him for this 5SOS gig.
