I own the TU3 version of the CM45 being reviewed. It may be one of the smallest, lightest 45s but the felt recoil is very mild compared to competitors like the XDs 45 (which I also own). My one complaint regarding this TU3 version relates to the grip sleeve, not the firearm. I have tried these same grip sleeves on my CW45 and now on the CM45. During a range session they tend to shift around on the grip. After numerous rounds they even slide down just enough to interfere with inserting a new magazine. I ended up removing the grip sleeves and installing Talon grips on both pistols. Huge improvement! During almost 3 decades in law enforcement, I shot and carried primarily a Glock model 23. Since retiring I have developed a real appreciation for the single stack Kahr pistols in the various calibers. Fantastic carry guns. Accurate and very reliable.

What's the difference between the cw45 and the cm45?

My concealed carry is a CM9. It's been rock solid reliable and is tiny making it GREAT for pocket carry.

just bought the Kahr CM45. havent shot it yet but your video did help me in filing down some of the problem edges i was having with breaking the weapon down. The notches on the left hand side of the slide/receiver are great for lining up the area for pulling the breakdown pin.
Will update in a week or so when i finally get to shoot the weapon. for now, seems like a solid piece for someone with small hands like me.
Great videos. Keep up the great work. Subscribed

The pin comes out easy if you dont pull the trigger before you remove it. Keep the gun cocked and you can push it out with your finger. No tools needed.

    Great video, thank you!
I've noticed on many videos that folks have the same issue with getting the slide off initially. Have you figured out what is causing that? I'm picking up my CM9 in Tungsten on Tuesday, so I'm looking forward to it.

Both of mine are still like that. You never know it its going to pop right off or get caught. I dont know what causes it and havent discovered or been told what to do to avoid it. The manual only says pull the trigger and push the slide forward.

+454pakr I can't say, we've only shot it with the sleeve. A nice touch by Kahr to include it.

There are two index marks on the left side of your slide and frame, those are for lining up for take down.

+SouthernGlockster it felt fine to us. At least it came with the option. This is also from their "Value" line. Complaining about anything is like complaining that your base-model car doesn't have a leather interior.

Nice video. I own a standard model CM45. Love the thing. For such a small pistol being chambered in .45 ACP it is surprisingly controllable and I don't have a grip sleeve or grip tape on mine. I've even fired some +P ammo out of mine and it handled it like a champ. Full discloser though, I'm not overly sensitive to recoil. I have to get into .44 Mag territory before I start complaining about recoil. I've only had one problem with the CM45. My pistol does not like Mag-Tech Guardian Gold 230 Gr JHP. That particular round prevented the gun from going fully into battery by about 1/8 of an inch and got stuck inside the chamber. Not a good time. Other than this one incident it has been 100% reliable. Note however, that Kahr recommends that the first round needs to be chambered using the slide stop and that you should not manually rack the slide to chamber the first round.

CM 9 is my edc. Flawless gun. I own a CM45 and 2 CW380's all of which are very reliable firearms. I carry the CW380 in summer. It is a great pocket gun. Kahr firearms have been very great firearms for me. I recommend them. Have never had a problem with any of mine.

Damm good "emergency equipment " my second firearm from Kahr, own a CM40.....can't find anything wrong with it.....fits snug in my pocket, my CM45 isn't this version, it's the two-tone model and it feels so good in your hand and i myself have big hands. Good video 👍

Reset is long, because it does not have short reset, it's not a single action (fake glock) or a glock. Trigger pull is the same for all shots. Obscure gun, I suspect I would like it despite the high probability of mousetrap springs inside.

Kahr's hate Fiocchi ammo, if you have problems, try Winchester.

  • @Vivacemalt

Would have been beneficial to show reassembly in order to explain the need to make sure the recoil spring is put back in precisely. Until I realized this, I could not figure out why reassembly was quite impossible. The rod was coming into contact with the frame at the edge of the hole.

I have two of these guns, a 9 and 380. Don't forget to remove the magazine before trying to remove the take down part. In the manual it sounds like magazine removal is merely boilerplate about making sure the pistol is in a safe condition prior to servicing, but the magazine is directly in the way of that pin coming out. You can still force it out but you may damage the magazine.
The one thing I truly despise about both of these guns, and I would not have bought them if I had known it, is there is no striker return spring in the design. It relies on a rapid cycling of the slide for the striker to be driven back by its own weight. If you dry fire, because there is no rapid cycling caused by a round going off, you may wind up with the striker remaining extended unless you tap the gun hard or manually push the striker back yourself. If you don't retract it you wont be able to chamber a round as the extended striker will get caught on the rim of the incoming cartridge. So if you dry fire, make sure its not left in this useless state. I put a pencil down into the gun through the handle, and push the striker back with that. Its a stupid design. It works except for the dry fire bug though.
People also get worried that the top round in the magazine is at a different angle than those underneath it. That is part of the design and it needs to be at that angle for the feed ramp.

I had several problems with my CM45 TU3. First it stopped resetting the striker after 300 rounds on my first range session. The pistol has issues with ejecting rounds that have not been fired. So making the pistol safe after a day of carry and you go to unload it you might run into problems. www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?25011-Kahr-CM45-problems. The pictures on the Khar forum are exalty what my CM45 was doing. Also after the range session the Cerakote started rub off and build up on the slide and made removing the barrel very hard and was signifently tighter then when it was unfired and new. I sent back to Khar and they fixed it in 10 days. When i got it back i saw they just cut out a corner of the barrel so the clearance was enough to eject a live round. I took it to the range and ran 150 rounds through it with no problems but still ended selling it and will search for a better quality single stack 45. Good luck with your Kahr CM45.

    • @GunChronicles
      @GunChronicles 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@ Jonathan Babin. The CM45 comes with one 5 round flush fitting magazine. As a side note though, I've also used Chip McCormick and Wilson Combat 1911 magazines in mine and they have functioned reliably. Can't recommend other brands of 1911 magazines because I have only used the two brands mentioned in my CM45. Other brands of 1911 magazines may work or they may not. Kahr also makes extended magazines for the CM45 so you are not limited to just 5 round magazines for this gun. You do have options available.Price range online seems to be between $333 - $360.Hope this info helps you out.
