The only thing I don’t like about Francesca’s storyline is her clearly having second thoughts the moment John kisses her. In the books she clearly loves him so deeply, that of course when he passes away she utterly heartbroken. All I ask is for her to be clearly in love with John first and then I want to see the love blossom with her and Michela.
Agree. I think some viewers are reacting too prematurely to the Michaela swap without first seeing how Francesca and John's storyline plays out. The Bridgerton writers obviously know what they are doing.
I have to say that I'm still grieving over Theo and Eloise... I'm not quite giving the hopes up for these two. Also, I wish to see a family reunion - Simon & Daphne, Kate & Anthony, Pen & Colin, what about Kate's Sister (who got introduced to the prince from the queen) and her mother? Some moment where they are together and celebrating or smt would be soooooo wonderful!

The fertility issues would have been such a great opportunity to bring that content to life. Also, her love for John was ruined for a quick intro to a lesbian theme. It changed Francesca’s whole story. Disappointing to say the least.
1. Cressida kind of deserves what was given to her. She doesn't have to be a bully, but she chose to. Although I understand that she had a strict father, and a nasty mother as influence, which is the reason why she's like that. 2. I'm more of a canon girl, so the Michaela reveal was a bit iffy for me. I prefer a Michael story on this one. I don't mind Benjamin's Sophie is the one being gender switched though because of the bi buildup he had in the past few seasons, which has more sense story wise. 3. My theory as to why Polin story was shown early: Probably because Julie Andrews doesn't want to do it anymore, and isn't she semi-retired anyway?
I don’t mind the Michaela switch BUT I was surprised they didn’t do that for Benedict or maybe Eloise because it suits their established traits better. It just seemed to come out for nowhere for Francesca.
I would watch a Cressida spinoff! And as much as I love Eloise, I hope they do Benedict & Sophie's story next, (Luke Thompson was so sexy in season 3. I think they need to go back to the book order now; they only sped up Polin's story because the public was already so in love with them.

What I don't want to see is them merging two Bridgerton storylines in one. Franchesca's story is layered enough that she could have had her own season. Marrying 2 Bridgertons in the same season feels rushed. 4. I honestly didn't need the background on Cressida. I know she's more prominent in Colin and Penelope's book but I don't need the back story of a supposed villain. 5. I also don't need any more scenes of the Mondrich family. They were introduced as friends of the Duke in Season 1. If we don't see him anymore, why do we need to see them? 6. Overall, I liked the season but I feel like they were trying to tackle too many storylines at once.

The fact that S1 success with the Duke shows the viewers to be color blind and disproves your theory. If S4 or S5 is Francesca’s then why do a gender swap for Michael? Of all the books Francesca and Michael’s was the most compelling. If they needed a gender swap there were tons of secondary characters that could have been utilized like we saw with the valets in Queen Charlotte.

This season didn’t give bridgeton. There was too many side story’s & Benedict’s story built up a love story the whole season just for them to breakup in 2mins. There were barely any love scenes. & took to long to build up to P & C love story then when it happened, they barely got any time on camera.
I disagree! Those who read the book know that it was very much in their heads! It had to play out with other characters! Characters that would show them their follies! It's really very very good....in the book they reach conclusions in their heads. Ooooh I'm not articulating it well. Really ms MOJO...have a second look. Look beyond the obvious.

The Micaela character is where I jump the shark. I have no problem with gay characters or love interests… But this has strayed so far from the source material that I just can’t do it anymore.

When Netflix optioned the books into a TV series from Julia Quinn, it was done with the full understanding and blessing from Quinn that her source material was a jumping point but that changes, minor and fairly large, would be made to it. She encouraged the producers and writers to take her characters and storylines in other directions as they see their own visions. Like starting from an architect's blueprint but then adding your own design elements as you build.

Jonathan Rhys-Myers looks absolutely nothing like Henry VIII and, in fact, there is another actor who appears in the first season playing the Duke of Buckingham, who looks like Henry reincarnated. Reign whipped a sexy stranger out of thin air. Twice on film it's been suggested that Elizabeth I and Mary QoS met in person even though there is no evidence that they ever did. Entertainment media takes liberties with reality and we know this. This is not just romantic history but FANTASY and I think many viewers forget that. I (although a lifelong reader) have not read the series, but I do understand that the Bridgerton universe has an almost magical realism to it. Not quite, but things seem almost enchanted for the Bridgertons in Grosvenor Square 🐝
What i really hate is that they made Francesca such a "different" character, her and John have a unique love but they ended up making Francesca swallow her words when she actually end up stuttering when she meets Michaela just like any other "love story" and now makes it seem like she has never loved John at all ridiculous 😴 even with Benedict, if he wanted to explore his "gayness" they could have done that without the throuple in our face every 10 mins 🙃 like it was so weird. And also like many are saying, this is a TV show based on books.... At least stick to majority of the book plots please, like what they did with Queen Charlotte was perfect, they made their own show out of nothing.

Does anyone else look at Francesca and see Belle from Beauty and the Beast? What I love about Bridgerton is the women have to maneuver the world of men to accomplish anything. The women like Cressida do have unfortunate circumstances but are no quite the victims as in Outlander. I would chew off MY ARM for a Cressida spinoff series!!!! I absolutely loved her storyline and character development in season three. In part one, they really did a good job of playing up the sympathetic angle with Cressida, showing her home life and giving very good explanations of why she is the way she is. It was also lovely to see her and Eloise forging (what looked like) a real friendship. Part two positively smacked me in my face with Cressida's story. Oh no, this was not a redemption arc! This was her doubling down and going FULL VILLIAN MODE! Her entrance to the Mondrich Ball? EVERYTHING ❤

It's made of a base layer of fabric in hot pink and then layers of tulle applied over it in a deep burgundy so that when draped together, they create the stunning red shade of the dress that we see in the scene! 😍🔥

Kanthony will definitely return from India, because Anthony is the Viscount, I still find it shocking that they missed Frannie & John's wedding to go to India. Also when Kate is pregnant I thought it is not wise to travel so many days on the ship. Anw he has duties and responsibilities to fulfil, and when they are away Benedict will have to step-up to cover his duties like what was mentioned in S3 Ep 1. I also highly suspect, that if S4 is Ben's story then yes too because Sophie was an illegitimate daughter from an Earl, her birth doesn't allow her to step up as viscountess, even if Anthony decides to pass on his title & stay in India forever. (Which is highly unlikely) Is just how much screen time the actors/actresss of past bridgerton couple are willing to step into. I do hope S4 will finally be Ben's story, and we can get to see side plots of Kanothy rasing their son Edmund & running the household. Also Polin too given that technically now they are the heads of the Featherington household, until their son comes of age.
Yeah, they’ll definitely return, they are both the heads of the family. The household needs them and their son will be the next Lord Bridgerton, so they are surely more important than Polin’s child (their son will guide the Featherington family, not his parents, same for Will and Alice’s son)
Quite simply, Season 3 sucked! Not nearly enough Polin, especially after Luke/Nicola promised us so much steam. The Benedict threesome was a bore as was the Mondrich storyline. The only good part for me was the growing friendship between Agatha and Violet. Season 3 is the first time I haven't immediately re-watched the entire series. The new show runner is way out of her depth.
I agree! It was a jumbled mess IMO No true storyline. Bits and pieces of different storylines with no real focus on one...which the past 2 seasons clearly had. I feel like Penelope and Colin got ripped. Her story started the very first season and to have her finally get her man was a HUGE letdown....not the kind of rejoicing it deserved. And the last 3 seconds showing the babies...that was rushed and a wtf just happened moment. Not sure if I'll return for the fourth.
I am hoping upon hope this means a short spin off of Kate and Anthony in India. 1. Their romance is addictive and I know fans would want more 2. Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley have expressed more than once how much they enjoy working together. Give them their own project 3. My favourite part! This is a world where interconnectedness means that cultures intergrate better. As this is still Regency this could be a beautiful ode to the India where Victorian colonialism never happened. A kind of ode to it's history. That would be so fun done with this highly romantic and cheeky couple. Gah I'd love that so much
Exactly ! This show needs them to still be credible and to stop treating them like garbage. They did not show us their marriage and first child and this is unjustifiable as well as unforgivable, so now they have to make up for it.
There is much to be improved in S4 (I'm hoping it will be Benedict's after they skipped his book). We need S1 vibes back when the story revolved around the main couple and there were little side plots here and there, of course, but it made more sense in the overall story and everything was connected. I didn't feel that this season. Also, we need improvement in pacing and editing because it felt really off, especially in the last two episodes.
Season 3 was supposed to be about Penelope and Colin and we got very little of that. I didn’t like how they played out their storyline. It felt very copy, cut, and paste to me. The changes made to Benedict and Francesca’s characters are simply unnecessary, and downright rude to true Bridgerton fans. The series ended for me at season 3, episode 5. Everything went downhill from there.
I saw an interview with the new showrunner. I think this could be a factor as to why this season seemed different and the audience didn't like the changes. One of which is of course Francesca at the end when apparently being immediately attracted to the Same sex sibling of the man she fell in love with. When asked about the change, the answer was "I see a lot of myself in Francesca, so I decided to make her queer". I can see ppl complaining, when there's no need or big plan to make a change.

I agree! It would have made more sense if they had Anthony go away for viscount duties and Kate went with him with Violet's blessing to explain their absence. Rather than all the way to India which takes months to travel to and makes no sense?
They are BOTH heads of the family. The Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton. They will run the family together, fullfiling their duties while they make grow their own family.
@jenniferharris1280 They will return to London. The timeline clearly suggests that they will have enough time to go, have their baby and then return just in time for the last dance organised by Violet at the Bridgerton House, as it will then be up to Kate to do it, exactly as happens in the books.
Because it’s about the Bridgerton family. Julia Quinn is involved and fine with these changes. If the show isn’t working for you that’s fine. The books are still there. I do like how we have a mainstream romance show that includes people who are usually ignored though. I think it’s nice.
Why are all the comments assuming the OP is complaining about diversity? It could equally relate to all the complaints of the plots and character personalities being inconsistent especially with Colin finding out about Lady Whistledown so late in the plot after the engagement and spending the later half in anger or Francesca not being romantically in love with John. Stop assuming!

there may be a reason why Francesca and Lord Kilmartin were introduced early, since in "He Was Wicked" Francesca was Lady Kilmartin for all of nearly 2 days

Hopefully Benedict will be the lead, mostly he didn’t do much in season three so definitely his story is the best way. also, it didn’t need to like do times skips until the couple meets again could be like a week after. Also, it would be cool if Sophie had a physical disable because it would make her more than outcast and hide the mask in probably would not know until much later on. I just binged watched Bridgerton for the first time and I love it! Benedict needs a better storyline next season. There's definitely something different about Francesca.
I think the masqurade will be at the end of the season, and Benedict will be season 5. I think Eloise will be the nest season, she will start writing her letters while in Scotland
Am I the only person who interpreted Francesca's difficulty at getting out her own name when meeting Michaela as shock that M didn't know who she was? Like, seriously, John hadn't already pointed out his NEW WIFE to his cousin? He hadn't already told his cousin the name of the lady he was going to have just married (or had just married, depending on when it was decided that Michaela would come along) when discussing about going to the estate in Scotland?
I think is more likely that Francesca is the lead next season, specially how the time jumped so far to introduce Polins son. I was sure it was Benedict when they reference the Masquerade Ball, but with that time jump....it sets up Francesca quite nicely and makes room to explore Benedict bisexuality and put the seeds of Eloise story starting to correspondence with Sir Phillips, because although in secret for the family, it probably wont be for us the audience. Either way I WANT SEASON 4 NEXT YEAR NOT IN TWO xD.
They didn't time jump pens baby, pen was already pregnant before she married colin, there's a quick blink and miss scene before she writes to Mrs B and the Queen, where she's talking about Keys, look closely to where she places colins hands on her,and watch his reaction. I think it's either ep7 / 8 of S3. It's the chaise lounge/ mirror part, is where they made JNR, not after her speech to the ton.👋💕🇦🇺
I absolutely do not…appreciate the showrunner’s take on things. Polin definitely didn’t get enough time, the stuff with Benedict was unnecessary at this point, and destroying Francesca and John’s story. Just my opinion.
I agree with your 10 questions. I hoping they do not follow the books and write Francesca & John storyline better than S3-8. I don't understand the purpose of the cousin Michaela, except for the break up of the happy union. I also heard that Benedict and Sophie story was exceedingly dragged out for many years. That couple needs to be rewritten for a truly romantic couple. Also Lord Debling to return for Cressida! I still liked Eloise and S2 Theo. It would be nice if Theo's social standing improved and Eloise sees him again. (wishful thinking!)
They can recast Marina easily enough. They recast Francesca so what’s the problem? I would much rather see Eloise and Sir Phillip after Benedict and Sophie.

You’re kidding yourself if you DON’T think/KNOW Season 4 will be about Eloise!!! Perhaps there will even be a subplot line about Lady Violet Bridgerton falling in love with Lord Marcus (Lady Danbury’s brother)
I would think her season would be much later because they need to let Marina’s children age a bit so they can interact with Eloise, and John and Francesca were married for 2 years and she interacted with Michael 4 years after. So most likely it will be Benedict and Sophie.
Whenever Benedict’s season ends up coming, I hope they pull the same switcheroo they did with Michaela Stirling and give us “Sophocles” instead of Sophie for Benny.
In the books , we know he dies . I think the question being posed in the video is how are they going to bring about his death in the Netflix version. And, are they now going to make Francesca have a relationship with Michaela, who was Michael in the books we all know the Netflix series diverges in varying degrees from the books.

Why couldn't Cressida pull Lord Debling? It seemed like a no brainer once Pen was out of the way.

If S4 or S5 is Francesca’s then why do a gender swap for Michael? Of all the books Francesca and Michael’s was the most compelling. If they needed a gender swap there were tons of secondary characters that could have been utilized like we saw with the valets in Queen Charlotte.

This season didn’t give bridgeton. There was too many side story’s & Benedict’s story built up a love story the whole season just for them to breakup in 2mins. There were barely any love scenes. & took to long to build up to P & C love story then when it happened, they barely got any time on camera.

When Netflix optioned the books into a TV series from Julia Quinn, it was done with the full understanding and blessing from Quinn that her source material was a jumping point but that changes, minor and fairly large, would be made to it. She encouraged the producers and writers to take her characters and storylines in other directions as they see their own visions. Like starting from an architect's blueprint but then adding your own design elements as you build.

Jonathan Rhys-Myers looks absolutely nothing like Henry VIII and, in fact, there is another actor who appears in the first season playing the Duke of Buckingham, who looks like Henry reincarnated. Reign whipped a sexy stranger out of thin air. Twice on film it's been suggested that Elizabeth I and Mary QoS met in person even though there is no evidence that they ever did. Entertainment media takes liberties with reality and we know this.
This is not just romantic history but FANTASY and I think many viewers forget that. I (although a lifelong reader) have not read the series, but I do understand that the Bridgerton universe has an almost magical realism to it. Not quite, but things seem almost enchanted for the Bridgertons in Grosvenor Square 🐝

What i really hate is that they made Francesca such a "different" character, her and John have a unique love but they ended up making Francesca swallow her words when she actually end up stuttering when she meets Michaela just like any other "love story" and now makes it seem like she has never loved John at all ridiculous 😴 even with Benedict, if he wanted to explore his "gayness" they could have done that without the throuple in our face every 10 mins 🙃 like it was so weird. And also like many are saying, this is a TV show based on books.... At least stick to majority of the book plots please, like what they did with Queen Charlotte was perfect, they made their own show out of nothing.

What I love about Bridgerton is the women have to maneuver the world of men to accomplish anything. The women like Cressida do have unfortunate circumstances but are no quite the victims as in Outlander.

I would chew off MY ARM for a Cressida spinoff series!!!! I absolutely loved her storyline and character development in season three. In part one, they really did a good job of playing up the sympathetic angle with Cressida, showing her home life and giving very good explanations of why she is the way she is. It was also lovely to see her and Eloise forging (what looked like) a real friendship.
Part two positively smacked me in my face with Cressida's story. Oh no, this was not a redemption arc! This was her doubling down and going FULL VILLIAN MODE!

It's made of a base layer of fabric in hot pink and then layers of tulle applied over it in a deep burgundy so that when draped together, they create the stunning red shade of the dress that we see in the scene! 😍🔥

1. I would love for Season 4 to focus on Benedict, not just him finding love with Sophie but with him being reunited with his love of art.
2. I hate that they made Michael into Michaela. I love the books and I want the show to mirror the book's events a little more. How likely is it, during this time period, that Franchesca will be able to fall in love, marry, have children, and set up house with a woman?
3. What I don't want to see is them merging two Bridgerton storylines in one. Franchesca's story is layered enough that she could have had her own season. Marrying 2 Bridgertons in the same season feels rushed.
4. I honestly didn't need the background on Cressida. I know she's more prominent in Colin and Penelope's book but I don't need the back story of a supposed villain.
5. I also don't need any more scenes of the Mondrich family. They were introduced as friends of the Duke in Season 1. If we don't see him anymore, why do we need to see them?
6. Overall, I liked the season but I feel like they were trying to tackle too many storylines at once.
You will see them more because they are black. This is the time when story doesn't matter and color does.
Kanthony will definitely return from India, because Anthony is the Viscount, I still find it shocking that they missed Frannie & John's wedding to go to India. Also when Kate is pregnant I thought it is not wise to travel so many days on the ship. Anw he has duties and responsibilities to fulfil, and when they are away Benedict will have to step-up to cover his duties like what was mentioned in S3 Ep 1. I also highly suspect, that if S4 is Ben's story then yes too because Sophie was an illegitimate daughter from an Earl, her birth doesn't allow her to step up as viscountess, even if Anthony decides to pass on his title & stay in India forever. (Which is highly unlikely) Is just how much screen time the actors/actresss of past bridgerton couple are willing to step into.
I do hope S4 will finally be Ben's story, and we can get to see side plots of Kanothy rasing their son Edmund & running the household. Also Polin too given that technically now they are the heads of the Featherington household, until their son comes of age.
Yeah, they’ll definitely return, they are both the heads of the family. The household needs them and their son will be the next Lord Bridgerton, so they are surely more important than Polin’s child (their son will guide the Featherington family, not his parents, same for Will and Alice’s son)
Quite simply, Season 3 sucked! Not nearly enough Polin, especially after Luke/Nicola promised us so much steam. The Benedict threesome was a bore as was the Mondrich storyline. The only good part for me was the growing friendship between Agatha and Violet. Season 3 is the first time I haven't immediately re-watched the entire series. The new show runner is way out of her depth.
I agree! It was a jumbled mess IMO No true storyline. Bits and pieces of different storylines with no real focus on one...which the past 2 seasons clearly had. I feel like Penelope and Colin got ripped. Her story started the very first season and to have her finally get her man was a HUGE letdown....not the kind of rejoicing it deserved. And the last 3 seconds showing the babies...that was rushed and a wtf just happened moment. Not sure if I'll return for the fourth.

3. My favourite part! This is a world where interconnectedness means that cultures intergrate better. As this is still Regency this could be a beautiful ode to the India where Victorian colonialism never happened. A kind of ode to it's history. That would be so fun done with this highly romantic and cheeky couple.

There is much to be improved in S4 (I'm hoping it will be Benedict's after they skipped his book). We need S1 vibes back when the story revolved around the main couple and there were little side plots here and there, of course, but it made more sense in the overall story and everything was connected. I didn't feel that this season. Also, we need improvement in pacing and editing because it felt really off, especially in the last two episodes.
Season 3 was supposed to be about Penelope and Colin and we got very little of that. I didn’t like how they played out their storyline. It felt very copy, cut, and paste to me. The changes made to Benedict and Francesca’s characters are simply unnecessary, and downright rude to true Bridgerton fans. The series ended for me at season 3, episode 5. Everything went downhill from there.
I saw an interview with the new showrunner. I think this could be a factor as to why this season seemed different and the audience didn't like the changes. One of which is of course Francesca at the end when apparently being immediately attracted to the Same sex sibling of the man she fell in love with. When asked about the change, the answer was "I see a lot of myself in Francesca, so I decided to make her queer". I can see ppl complaining, when there's no need or big plan to make a change.

They are BOTH heads of the family. The Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton. They will run the family together, fullfiling their duties while they make grow their own family.

Why are all the comments assuming the OP is complaining about diversity? It could equally relate to all the complaints of the plots and character personalities being inconsistent especially with Colin finding out about Lady Whistledown so late in the plot after the engagement and spending the later half in anger or Francesca not being romantically in love with John. I just binged watched Bridgerton for the first time and I love it! Benedict needs a better storyline next season. There's definitely something different about Francesca.

I think is more likely that Francesca is the lead next season, specially how the time jumped so far to introduce Polins son. I was sure it was Benedict when they reference the Masquerade Ball, but with that time jump....it sets up Francesca quite nicely and makes room to explore Benedict bisexuality and put the seeds of Eloise story starting to correspondence with Sir Phillips, because although in secret for the family, it probably wont be for us the audience. Either way I WANT SEASON 4 NEXT YEAR NOT IN TWO xD.

I think it's either ep7 / 8 of S3. It's the chaise lounge/ mirror part, is where they made JNR, not after her speech to the ton.👋💕🇦🇺
I absolutely do not…appreciate the showrunner’s take on things. Polin definitely didn’t get enough time, the stuff with Benedict was unnecessary at this point, and destroying Francesca and John’s story. Just my opinion.

I don't understand the purpose of the cousin Michaela, except for the break up of the happy union. I also heard that Benedict and Sophie story was exceedingly dragged out for many years. That couple needs to be rewritten for a truly romantic couple. Also Lord Debling to return for Cressida! I still liked Eloise and S2 Theo. It would be nice if Theo's social standing improved and Eloise sees him again. (wishful thinking!)

I would think her season would be much later because they need to let Marina’s children age a bit so they can interact with Eloise, and John and Francesca were married for 2 years and she interacted with Michael 4 years after. So most likely it will be Benedict and Sophie.
