Despite the less than perfect sound of the recording (it's a bit too much "in-your-face" for my taste) this is very enjoyable to listen to...Vedernikov again shows his great affinity with this composer's style.
Personally i prefer Prokofiev by far but Shostakovich too is a great composer even if I find many of his symphonies boring. But his chamber music is exceptional and check out the two piano sonatas, esp as played by this great pianist.

The most unique composer ever. I love this guy he deserves his own genre of music.
I love the sounds he makes. A huge variety of staccato and of legato. And his sympathy with the music is perfect. Magical performances.
