A few months ago, I read that almost 1/4 of people were still paying on balances from the previous holiday season. It blows my mind to see these people go into debt, just to get holiday gifts for people. I know that some people use credit in the event of an emergency, but I truly believe that the majority of the debt are just people mindlessly swiping their cards, with no consideration of whether they have the money to pay it off.
