Well, you can simply drive to TÜV yourself. You may get a list of defects that have to be repaired. Then go to a garage, present the list and tell them to fix the listed defects.

That is the idea situation. I would just have to be more prepared in advance. I guess the problem is I always try to get as many tasks done st the same time, which is why I am most likely to fall for the trap. I will say though, with my current mechanic, I trust them, but maybe every other year, I should go to the TüV. It doesn't hurt to get a second opinion, before throwing out lots of money

I guess due to TÜV (mandatory technical requirement check) costs in Germany are higher.
In general in my mind there are two types: a) people how want to rip out money out of car drivers or b) people how want just be paid fair (not overprized) for their work ..seems you found category b 👍

Yea, in the end I found this family enterprise. I shouldn't day I found it though. I would have still been searching if I didn't have a connection. I think the problem is I look gullible, so people these crooked people got me.
One way I can tell these people are good people is that I have seen their customers come and bring them food! They make jokes with everyone. Its like a comedy show and your car runs clearly better than ever.
