I’m not a coach or parent but I’ve played my whole life. I was always a top player on my teams up until high school. I took 2 years off playing and was rusty and all my coaches would tell me my shot sucked. My shot sucked. Over & over & over. So I ended that year with 2 goals after almost always being one of the best players. In 3 on 3, I’d get a hat trick almost every game. They wrecked my confidence and I stopped wanting to shoot. Now playing adult leagues, I’m working on unraveling the lack of confidence instilled in me by my high school coaches. Great video! You’ll never become the player you want to be if you don’t truly believe you can be that player. My shot will always suck if I believe my shot sucks
Dude that was such a powerful message! Thank you! As a coach and a parent I will definitely be trying to implement this for the rest of the season! Love your videos!
There is such a big difference between trying to succeed vs trying not to fail. ( Case in point: my Bruins in the first round last year ha ha ) Great video, and this goes so far beyond the rink!!!
Well done, my kids have played with several NHL players kids and they were the easiest going enjoying the moment vs other parents who analyze every single second they are on the ice, nobody has that concentration level especially at the age. Teach some fundamentals but really just encourage and enjoy. ;thx subscribing
I agree 100% Frequent criticism and negativity applied to children leads to smaller balls. This is a scientific fact. Let your kids fail early, that’s how they’ll learn to succeed.

Great video, so truthful. Coaches crush a child’s confidence.
Absolutely!
It kills me to see parents screaming at the kids from the stands. Absolutely destroying them as players.
100% agree
