Tips if someone tries to attack you guys while you're on an exploration: 1. Don't use closed fists to hit back it's too dangerous you'll break fingers, so instead use your palms, they're stronger, and harder than your knuckles. 2. Always bring mace or pepper spray, you never know when you'll need it. 3. If for some reason you're separated and have no means of communication, find a high vantage point and either shine a light or shoot a flare gun. 4. It's not essential, but it'd be easier to defend yourselves if you used headlamps and lastly 5. Wear boots instead of sneakers, and bring masks, the boots will protect you from glass and other things on the ground, and the mask will significantly lower the chance that you get sick while traveling through these buildings.

There is an obvious reason not to use them as weapons, they are too small and if they break, you won't be able to see. It's much safer to have head lamps because you'll be able to see the attacker at all times if they're close. There's also the danger of attacking out of impulse and severely injuring someone who could potentially be unarmed with those flashlights, and you have to think, if homeless people lived in those buildings, they were probably more scared of Elton and his friends then they were of them.

I’m pretty sure fully grown men know how to make a proper fist lmao you do know that if you hit anything hard enough with your palm you can and will break your wrist or your arm. Please do not hit with your palm. Ie for punching you should Curl your hand closed (making sure that when you apply pressure it doesn’t hurt), and make your thumb do a backwards c shape (or forwards if you’re left handed) across the front of your closed fingers. Any other placement will break your fingers and your thumb almost immediately. I think anyone would rather have a busted or jammed finger instead of a broken arm. Trust me.
Please don't tell me that you actually gave this advice to real people, exit stage right, and return to school. The C shape is how you break your entire hand, if you've actually used it successfully yourself please provide proof (you definitely won't) and stop trying to disprove solid facts with bull crap, it's uncouth of a woman with no martial arts background to do so. This gave me so much more anxiety than most of these explorations/overnights have... The building was just so unbelievably claustrophobic (all the graffiti just made it worse), and add that to them trying to navigate quickly. It also has like zero variety in architecture so it just seemed like they were walking in a loop... This one got me pretty good.
