My grandmother lived 2 blks from Chicano Park. I as a teenager got to see the groundbreaking of the park. Many festivals!! Also the people of the bario would come and eat at our family owned restaurant. New Mexico Cafe ran by my tia Mary .

Then the riots came thru our small Hispanic community of Wilmington California. My dad’s friend who owned a liquor Store on Avalon Blvd put up signs in front saying, I am Chicano. 😂 VIVA LA RAZA!
