It's easy for her to put makeup on because she doesn't have any acne. Whereas people like me with a full face of them will have to have lumpy concealer-covered skin.

Guys, she made her own make up line to cater not only to our wants but to hers as well. We can't hold it against her if she likes to use her creations. It's logical. If you made a lipstick according to how you like it, you'd use that too, right? Stop saying crap and just enjoy the video, k?

Love this video, I guess people are annoyed that she's advertising her products, but it's her channel, and why wouldn't she advertise it. If you can't afford her products, you don't have to use them to achieve this look, buy cheaper things from the drug shops, seriously people make a big deal over self-advertising. If you think her products are too expensive, contact her directly in private, you don't need to just blast it out without having a solution.
Also she has done videos where she has done make up looks using products under $20, and showed us cool tricks i.e using lipstick as blush, eyeliner as eyeshadow, lip liners as lipsticks, powder foundation for contoring, and eyeshadows for highlighting. Go to those videos if you have a problem with her using her own products. People just complain for the sake of it.
I'd be surprised if she wasn't using her own products. It's good advertising.

Consider it this way, if she doesn't use her own products, people may think she doesn't believe in the stuff she sells. Would you want to buy something that the creator of the product doesn't use? Don't fault her for doing a little free advertising.
She's a young woman who has come a long way. Now she's looking to turn her passion into a business.
She isn't even shoving in people's faces to use her brand, she's just saying like "use a shadow of this colour", "use you favorite product..."

People are such whiners! I subscribed to her BECAUSE she tries different things with makeup rather than sticking with what's safe and natural because they give me inspiration. This look may not be for everyone, fine but the endless amount of negativity is crazy. She does not just appeal to the really young girls, I know plenty of women ages 20 and up who watch her videos. There is nothing wrong with using her own products either, if you had a makeup line wouldn't you use it all the time too? When watching makeup videos I hardly ever use the same products as the gurus anyways, I use what I have. Keep making videos michelle! I still consider you to be one of the best makeup gurus on youtube :)

Of course she would use it, because she was involved in the process of making said products and is probably convinced of their quality.
looking at it from this perspective, it would be a really bad idea NOT to use her own products, for it would mean she does not believe they're good enough.
so i don't really see the point in criticizing that.
I think she does great using her makeup line. She wants people to know how it works, and that it works. She also doesnt tell you to use a specific color or makeup line, she gives you examples of what you need to use for the look, and tells you to use a similar color.

and I always hear "never wear red lips with colorful eyes". Dude, I've got Rimmel 11 which is a blood red lipstick. I'll be rockin' that with that gold, blue and purple.
I think makeup rules are for when you are just beginning with makeup - when you haven't quite built up the courage to just do what you want. Once you start advancing, its less about "rules" and more about "looks" that you want to do. Its just about being creative and doing what you want. That's when makeup becomes less of covering up and more of a way to show yet another facet of who you are.

Ok first of all let's be serious michelle phan wouldnt have a "line" if it were not for her consumers money . so if they have an opinion on this video . they can post whatever the hell they want . the ones who are saying things are saying nothing but the truth . her products are overpriced , meaning the quality is not what the consumers paying for. our opinion gets her line in the public view. yea, loreal is the foundation but we the customers are the ones who even allow her to have a name
Absolutely agree, I just bought her concealer 'the great cover up' ,, it seriously doesn't cover up anything ,and the mascara makes your eyelashes clumpy , most of the makeup doesnt work as good as it does in her videos
I agree. I can see why she would want to promote her line on this channel, but it doesn't make sense why they're so expensive when her viewers are most of her target demographic and they tend to be younger. Also, we have no sure way of determining the quality of her stuff since it's not an established line with lots of reviews. As much as I want to support Michelle and her success, she keeps getting farther away from the more authentic vlogger she used to be and becoming increasingly corporate/sponsored. I don't feel as if she truly cares as much about her audience.

Michelle, I'm not trying to correct you (you are so much more accomplished with makeup and have a ton more confidence than me) but some of us cannot use lash lengthening mascara as we already have extremely Long lashes. And If we wear glasses and use lash lengthening mascara it sticks to our glasses or our lashes get more stuck together.
Then just wear normal mascara! You don't have to use lash lengthening mascara. It's not a big deal.

Some people are missing the point of make-up: freedom to be creative and experimental! Sure, a lot of us wouldn't wear this to work or school or our Grandmother's birthday, but this look would turn heads at Christmas or NYE parties, and fancy dress parties!

Not really feeling this look. I feel like all those colors clash, especially the red lips and cooler tones in the eyes. Personally I think the look is too much but I do like the technique you used in the eye to create the wing shape.
I desided to try and do this look but when I had applied the purple I noticed I had no blue. Green for the win!

If you go dramatic on the eyes. You usually don't go dramatic on the lips. The bold eyeshadow would have teamed better with a lighter, softer lip colour. The look together just looks slightly outrageous. Secondly, I think you should experiment more with your look. Try creating a more sculpted, defined eyeshadow effect, rather than the usual smudging, as it tends to give panda eye effect at times. Elongate your eyes with a beautiful, long eyeshadow cat eye. Experiment more with eyeliner, go thicker, bolder and longer. Something high fashion, but wearable at the same time. ~
However I enjoy the creative thought you put into your videos, they are always so much fun to watch.

The only problem with Michelle:
She does makeup looks that only work on people with large eyelids. I personally have eyelids that give me about 5mm of space to decorate. I cannot wear eyeliner without it getting all over my eyelids and I don't have enough space on my lid to fit all the eyeliner and eye shadow. Please do a makeup look for people with tiny eyelids. Thank you.

Stick with matte eyeshadow shades, and focus the colours above the crease, and for liner, make sure it doesn’t cover your whole eyelid
If I could do videos I would try and help people with hooded eyes, I myself have hooded eyes and I make every eyeshadow look work for myself, and for others as well

the oil finish usually won't work if you have fine hair. it will almost certainly make it look greasy. :(

I wish I was slightly as beautiful as Michelle is.
It’s amazing how when I first watched this video I was in 8th grade. This is the very first video I’ve seen from Michelle Phan and I immediately became inspired. I was like 13 years old and I felt insecure about myself around that time...badly. I remember feeling beautiful and inspired to do makeup and wanting to learn more about it. Not only that but her videos gave me confidence to be comfortable within myself, along with Shameless Maya. Now I’m a senior in high school bout to go off to college and amazed at how much I’ve grown. She was the very first beauty guru that has impacted me in the most beautiful way. I miss her uploads 😭
