    Great job to everyone at Extreme Terrain!!! I'm a retired LEO from NC and fellow Jeep owner and this was such a amazing thing that you did for a brother officer. I sure Officer Dorman will love his new Jeep. I wish Officer Dorman a speedy recovery.

    I have watched a ton of your videos, and have always been impressed with your information and knowledge and willingness to help others from your how to's etc.
    However this one hits close to home with me and at this point, I am sold by your companies willingness to give back to some of America's Heros, who are cussed more than honored. Thank you guys so much for what you do and what you stand for, I can promise you this, I don't make a lot of money and I have a new to me Jeep that is screaming for parts, I will be ordering as much as I can from your company simply because this video has sold me on your ethics and values, thanks for what you do and what you stand for. I pray this young man will recover from his injuries that he will carry from the day of the shooting both physically and mentally, what a horrid event for any person to go through much less live to tell about it.
    Hats off to Chris for what he has been through, and Congrats to this project and all those who helped make this dream of his come true, Man O Man you guys Rock...!

      I know it looks like a Turbocharger, but that's actually a centrifugal style supercharger system. It compresses air in what looks like a turbo from the outside, but it's belt-driven just like the superchargers that many are familiar with that mount on top of the engine!

    1) odd, they put 37" tires and indicated they would change out the gears, but didn't cover that in the video (changing the differential gears).. 2) what about installing a locker in the differential?.. 3) They didn't put this on a dyno to show the before and after power at the wheels, odd that, and didn't touch on alignment considerations. I am not sure without rewatching it, but they 4) didn't address the strain of driving after putting larger tires on the vehicle, so did they install a steering stabilizer or assisting hydraulic mechanism? Seems like jeep owners have a lot of people pursuing the candy options, enhancements that make the vehicle look better (suppose there is big money in that). This is unfortunate and I suppose expected, but the performance and handling enhancements are of interest and really neglected (only in so much as the great volume speak to candy enhancements)... 5) A lot of updates were also made that will put an extra load on the electric system, what modifications were made to allow the base system to handle the extra demands on it? 6) If he hits the trails, then axel seals would have been interesting too, but they didn't address any enhancements to the breaks. 7) Whenever you enhance the engine or increase the wheel size, you really should consider bigger calipers and disks for the extra punishment you are asking this system to absorb.. 8) What tires did you put on that jeep? 9) lastly, they just pushed 11 updates, but didn't discuss the benefits that drew them to that product (shops have interest that may align with the purchaser or may not, good to know what you're dealing with)
    if anyone can point out a build that addresses all these or any of these concerns, please do paste them into a response, I want to watch them.. This wasn;t a bad video, but left me wondering more about their choices and what they left undocumented. Shure this is a time consuming thing, you have to dedicate someone to the camera, but clearly they did that here..

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Hey Paul! If you check out the build sheet on our website you can see everything that was put into Officer Dorman's Jeep www.extremeterrain.com/police-officer-chris-dorman-jeep-reveal.html. I'll go ahead and address all of your concerns though. 1) As for re-gearing for the 37's we installed 4.88 G2 Dana 30 & Dana 44 Ring & Pinion Gear Sets. 2) We didn't want to go and install a locker because Officer Dorman's Jeep is his daily driver and he hits the trails every once in a while. So we didn't want to go ahead with a serious modification that would hinder his on road driving on a daily basis. 3) We didn't throw the Jeep on the Dyno because we didn't feel that it was necessary considering that on Rippmods.com they show a video of a Wrangler on 37's being Dyno tested. Also the Wrangler was taken to a local auto shop for a front end alignment before giving the rig back to Officer Dorman. 4) We did want to make sure the Jeep drove as well as it looked and the lift kit definitely covered a lot of those bases. The lift kit included a beefier aftermarket sway bar to help with any front end shimmy and when we test drove the Jeep we deemed it to drive wonderfully and didn't see the need to replace the factory steering stabilizer. 5) LED lights actually draw a very small amount of power compared to other off-road lighting. That's what makes them so popular along with the amount of light they produce. So the factory electrical system will handle those with ease. 6) I know that we replaced the inner axle seals when the new ring & pinion were installed but as for the outer axle seals I'm not sure. I do agree it would've been a nice thing to cover though. 7) Brakes would be a good thing to do as well down the road. The aluminum wheels luckily aren't that heavy paired with those tires so the 4-wheel disc brakes should handle it alright but some beefier brakes would get the job done better for sure! 8) The tires are the Nitto Trail Grappler 37x12.50R17. 9) Our main reasoning behind the certain parts we picked for this build came from Chris's dad working side by side with us and giving us the insight of what Chris has been dreaming of doing to his JK. Also some parts were chosen by our team due to their popularity based off of sales and customer consideration. We absolutely didn't want to send Officer Dorman down the road in a Jeep that only had candy modifications on it so we made sure to test drive and put the best parts we and Chris's father felt necessary on his Wrangler. I hope I answered all of your questions and sort of helped fill in the gaps that were left out of the video. If you need anything else Paul just let me know! -Jake

      so, #2, this is the first time i've come across someone reference lockers as not being compatible with a regular commuter.. I really just have no experience with this topic. Can you give us a URL to address this ??
      "...So we didn't want to go ahead with a serious modification that would hinder his on road driving on a daily basis. "

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Paul, as for the locker situation. It's not that they aren't compatible with daily driving, but more that in order to not have the "clicking" or "popping" sound of driving with a locker we would of had to install an air or E-locker. I'm not saying either that lockers aren't dependable, but putting a lot of street miles on a locker just adds another factor for failure and we didn't want to have Chris's rig break down on him. -Jake

      Thank you, Stan! This was definitely a meaningful build and turned out extremely well. We went with the Raxiom LED Headlights on this one: www.extremeterrain.com/raxiom-smoke-led-headlight-j103746.html
      Thank you! -Brian

    Any business who backs the blue has my business. I will not purchase parts from anywhere else unless to have to for my JKU.

      Hey Chad, that was a custom made graphic made for Officer Dorman's jeep! However feel free to print out a picture and take it to your local vinyl shop to put on your own rig! -Jake

    did you guys regear it to accommodate the 37's or was it already regeared? just wondering

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sure did! We re-geared Chris's axles using G2 Ring and Pinion sets. We decided 4.88's would help turn those big ol' 37's a little easier! You can checkout the full build list on our site. -Jake

    They keep referring to it as a super charger even tho its most definitely a turbo

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It actually *is* a supercharger! The system installed is all belt driven, and is not connected at all to the exhaust system like a turbocharger would be. Check out this link to the RIPP one we installed to take a closer look! www.extremeterrain.com/ripp-15-sc-intercooled-15jksds36-a-m.html -Zach
