This footage was used in the opening scene of the British sitcom Desmond's

I loved Desmond’s at the time and recently rewatched it on All4 , I still laughed (and cried) in the right places.

@@magisvita2937 Half of the boat was white passengers but they only showed black faces to install fear. Many on the boat where returning British servicemen. You can say the majority of Caribbeans where Jamaican but it had passengers from a Trinidad and other islands. The propaganda film makes it seem like its full of Jamaicans

I'm sure some people must relish the thought of living in a country for fifty years and after having paid all their dues be denied cancer treatment. That's a conservative government for you!

I thought the British government sent for them to ‘rebuild the country after the war’?

@@catnior its all lies. The Empire Windrush was heading back to Britain with hardly any passengers. So the boat company placed an advert for cheap tickets to fill the boat up. When it arrived Attlee himself said ‘I’ve no idea who these men are’.
The ONLY paperwork available is a copy of the ‘passenger opportunity’ advert for tickets. 👍🏻

Came to work and dealt with racism never seen before. Couldn't get jobs because of racism from the British public and even the police. 1940's England was different, some English originals had never seen a black person in there life before. If you was black walking down the road a white person would cross the road. If you applied for a job and they seen you was black, you wouldn't get it. Remember the British public didn't have a vote to bring Caribbeans or any other ethnic minorities here. It was the British government that decided, just like the band on XL Bully dogs. Have the British public had a vote to band these dogs?

They were never invited to the UK and in fact were told not to come.
      It's their own fault.
Also, find me one picture of a windrush person with a hammer in their hand fixing my country, go on, I'll wait.
