One of the most talented musicians the world has ever seen
💯💯💯
No competition in artistry. Just my opinion ✌️
@@deronholzschu9207 Never said there was!
Sall good
I love me some Mono!
Imagine being his neighbor. He would get tired AF of me cuz I'd always be trying to come over and just see what he's up to.
😂😂
Met mono in a train station in Belguim, he was just standing there in front of his band. I shook his hand and asked for my first ever selfie with him, he obliged and I just threw compliments at him.. He seemed sweet and humble, I would have loved to hang with him. Great player, a one off.
So glad to get another rare glimpse of MonoNeon sharing himself with us, beyond the music.
I love this brother and his art. One of a kind. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it. Mono is the man 💯
Man - I can relate to everything he's talking about - at 47 I was diagnosed with ADHD - and now we think im on spectrum.
At 48 - after ten years away from music - I started a band. As of last feb - I turned 52. And I am in a position - where all I have to do is make music - so thats all im doing. Mononeon - has been a BIG inspiration the past year in particular. As a person with ASD/ADHD I woke up to the fact that I had been 'masking" - basically acting "normal" so that people would accept me - and as I get to know myself better - I have been slowly removing the masks that I had to create to feel "safe" - and just be my truest self. When I got hip to Mono's work - I kinda saw this cat who took that "mask" and turned it inside out - in this really brave and brilliant way (I also studied lit and art in school - so his avant garde sensibilities spoke to me immediately). And his "Basquiat & Skittles" isnt just a song title - hes created an aesthetic! Dude is like Prince, Ornette, Basquiat, Jamaaladeen, and Clinton all rolled into ONE BIG QUILTED BURRITO!
And Miles and Jimi.
@@cheeseheadfiddle oh %100!!
That's interesting! I'm not a psychatrist but I guess MonoNeon is somewhere on the autism or giftedness spectrum even if he probably doesn't like neuro-labels or whatever and just want to be "Himself". It's good to see one-of-a-kind artists being at the top like him. What a unique, refreshing and talented musician! Proof is that authenticity is definitely tied to happiness.
You do not have adhd, you're old af.
You didn't grow up with video games and social media, you aren't struggling to please blue collar boomers
48 years old, I don't think you should be indetifying yourself by things like that.
At the adhd clinic, some people go out of necessity. I do.
Some of the patients I meet in the lobby,
Sometimes they struggle to remember how many times they washed their hair in the shower, some of them accidentally stand outside lost in thought
Otherwise completley normal people, but with all these individual ticks and issues they have every 5 seconds
Not like dementia grandma staring at the sun,
We just get lost in inner monologues to a ridiculous degree.
I have a big issue with time specifically. I can't tell if yesterday was last week. Last year was 6 years ago. I don't know when anything happened I can't stop
I don't know anyone, I've been trying to build my social circle for years but I'm just too overwhelming.
Parents dead. No relatives. Nobody knows who I am
Homeless, just barely eating to pay rent, nobody will ever know who I am
That is what having adhd is like. Consider again if you have adhd or if you are just an older man.
Everybody has adhd symptoms. Everybody has gained benefits when using adhd medications for certain needs. Any doctor can diagnose and prescribe this without any concern.
To this degree:
Me: doctor. I really need refills for my inhaler, unhealthy foods seem to consistently cause asthma attacks for me
Doctor: I don't give refills, I want to see if your condition changes over time
Me: it's been exactly this way my entire life, this is the only thing that seems to correlate to asthma.
Basically, greasy food, processed food, especially things like McDonald's,
Gives me pretty bad asthma, but not until about the same time next day.
I only cook my food fresh at home now, no more asthma.
400$ every 2 months for asthma.
Multiple doctors who force asthma patients to keep. Paying. Quadruple the cost of my inhalers.
To "see if my life long condition goes away after one inhaler"
Do you have adhd? Or is adhd really easy to sell.
You are 48. You've been working professionally for years. Grew up in a time before addictive technology.
It's not a good look to identify as "health conditions"
There are always people struggling worse and keeping their chin up even higher
You don't know a damn thing about me. But you showed your ass just now. Best of luck with that.
i love how simple yet eccentric MonoNeon is. Dude is an artistic treaure
💯
MonoNeon is an incredible human with a totally open heart and such a great mind. The future is very exciting and definitely neon. Can't wait to see him play live.
Indeed! He is the man
Did you see him live yet? I saw him in Brooklyn last week, what a revelation. He is so brilliant. I saw ‘Fuze’ also , they played together. Fantastic gig.
I’m a bassist, I follow Mono & watch all his videos. He has taken the bass to another level. What a talent 😁
Interviewer did a great job. Mono is a genius.
Thank you!
Got to see Mono last week, it was awesome! so funky, and farty! But I love how humble this guy is, he is just doing his thing, ain't tryna be nothing but his true self, definitely an inspiration.
Hes so wholesome !
Love Mono, met him last year at the Blue Note on the eve of his birthday, sweet dude 🙏🏾 incredible artist!
A real legend!
I love mononeon one of the deepest spiritual levels and if I met him we’d just make random sounds and not even talk English to express that feeling
Make sure to watch the end of the interview for some special random sounds
@@gowithelmo I was not disappointed that was phenomenal
Mono Bro, I’m 62 and a hardcore jazz fan. I first saw your video with Marcus Miller and since then I’ve become your devoted fan. Just by being yourself.
Great advice. I’m going to start living and follow your advice.
Great interview Elmo! You sure know how to make some one comfortable.
Thank you! Much love
MonoNeon is a kindred spirit. One of my favorite artists.
💯
Please, world, love Mononeon. (And his manifesto).
Strikes me the genius of Prince lit the way for a genius he recognized, so We could see. Thank you Universe!
We love Mononeon!
this was excellent interview. 'dont second guess, just move how you want to move"...wise words.
thank you!
mononeon is too cool for this world... once i saw him at a small venue on the eastside. he was just in the audience. i told him i like his music and he was all, "thanks". this was probably 2018
He's on another level 💯
I just love MonoNeon. Been a fan a long while. Thanks for grabbing an interview! Just chill and pure creative. 💚💛🧡
Glad you enjoyed it!
Mono is one of the greatest.
Glad to see Mono open up so we can get to know more about the man.
He has such a wonderful soul and perspective to share
That’s it!! Jamaladeen! That’s what I get hits of in his bass playing. Jamaladeen is one of the funkiest players I ever heard and so is mono. Mono is his own man. Been listening for years now.
His harmonising with spoken clips is on another level.
The little thing he did of the lady on the plane was so brilliant.
Great interview , Mono Neon is the most unique musical entity out there !!! Invisible is a modern day classic , as good as anything Stevie WOnder ever wrote !! Long Live Mono Neon
Thank you!! Long live MonoNeon 💯
Yeah, Invisible is a classic.
Don't take this the wrong way, but I had no idea that he was this way. I love him so much.

Thankyou Elmo, fantastic interview. I was smiling throughout, how endearing is MONONEON? ♥️ I loved seeing his gig at Brooklyn Steel. I was a huge fan of Prince, saw him many times, I definitely sense the inspiration and Prince vibes.
Our pleasure! Glad you enjoyed the interview. Mono is amazing
Thanks for sharing the gem the guy is. You did a great job. Absolutely one of my favourite people in music.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
We needed this one 🔥
🙏🏼💯
You did a gig with Nate Smith a long time ago please do another gig both of you are telling stories through your music you should get together in the current spirit of how you both have evolved.
You both have the quality of being in complete service of the music and let the music speak for itself.
That for me makes the connection that strong to the point of implicit y'all lock like...
Mono really is just doing his best life and is okay with it.
I just saw him Friday and I can tell through his music we’d be best friends for life! This interview confirms in another alternate reality we’d be laughing it up at @BagelHumor & @JackVale pooter videos & jam
“On delicate” 😂😂😂 🔥
Juggling Kangaroos has been come my theme song. This cat is the most REALEST cat - ever.
Mono Neon is a beautiful strange musical genius.
He is incredible
First time i got to listen to mono..not playing bass, i like his personality and perspective on life
Such a neat personality
Love everything about this dude.
“…A relief from life (I guess)…”. Beautiful answer given pertaining to the question: [interviewer] “So - what would you like people to take from your music?”
Right’On Brutha Neon✊🏽🎼💜🇯🇲🌲.
“W-cubed”…The 3 thing I will always need!✊🏽🎼💜
MONO NEON Thank you for all that incredible music, so honest and creative.God blessings

Since "Wonderland's Disaster Queen" EP, MonoNeon pushes all my heroes from their number 1 position
This is so cool man ! You did such a great job interviewing him ;)
Thank you! Grateful for the opportunity to do this with him
Good thing you got music to help you with your issues. All people have them.
The best
This guy is a musicians musician.
It's hard for the flesh to contain SO MUCH soul.....#Genius
I can relate to mono on how he just simply answers questions with one word and moves on lol
Great interview! Wish he would have asked about Mono's band and how he chose the players in it, they're all great.
Great stuff!!! 🔥🔥
the star spangled banner part reminds me of the september 9th 1969 interview with jimi hendrix.
Genius ❤
Dope interview❗️🔥🔥🔥
Glad you dig!
what a document
🙏🏼
Genius!
💛💛
So humble
He's the man
MONONEON is goated lol
100%
Great interview
Thank you!
I love Mono but I wish I could see the man behind the image! Prince is awesome!
George, Bootsy, & Prince, in one body, mentally. 🎉
Nailed it

the Tyrone Biggums of jazz bass
🔥🔥🔥
Stop saying jam jam dahhhhmmmm 😎 love you lil bro 901
So tough to interview this guy is xd
I'm gonna thug it out! Lol love you neon
He reminds me of Danny Brown.
Ye mayne
Shrooms, preworkout, and adhd.
Those are the three things that you need
I can’t not picture Tyrone Biggims haha
MONOADHDNEON
He seems so depressed. He's fresh on some drug. "Thoughts won't stop". I hope he makes it.
It's not a good feeling to want the thoughts to stop, but they don't
Or he might have a mental condition. I have both ADHD and bipolar disorder, with some characteristics of OCD and my mind is so exhausting sometimes and it’s not really in my control. I too have went without sleep, etc. a lot of us with these conditions are highly creative too. Our brains are literally interconnected and wired differently than the average brain.
But if anything, he seems just kinda introverted to me. I’m the same way. I have moments where I will openly make an ass of myself for good fun, and other times I just don’t really want to be around people.
I'm a little confused by this interview. This guy is definitely an absolute genius and i watch him doing his stuff since years. But i bet everyone watching this feels that he's tormented. His jerky way of talking, his gestures and the fact the he doesn't seem to look straight to the interviewer: it kind of makes me uncomfrotable and sad.
I would like for him to feel free to create normally and not for a compulsive need.
May God have mercy for him to know the truth and be free from his chains
He's just on the spectrum man.
Mononeon clearly isn't into hype talk or even smalltalk. Makes the interviewer slightly look like an idiot with his exaggerated laughs. Then again, if Mono doesn't like interviews, why is he even doing them ?
Mono is one of the most over-rated artists of today..
100%!!
He sounds really cool. but also sound like more would make sense to him if he would actually get an education..
Those feelings hes feeling is his brain trying to grow... sad man..
