    Love that you used "her" as the pronoun for boss. I, a woman, automatically thought it's a man when you said boss and chuckled when you said "her." 😄

    Great tips! Outsourcing (paying money to buy yourself more time) and taking vacations (experiences over things) are legit scientifically proven ways to buy happiness. We probably don't do it as often as we should, but we're also not rich...yet.--Tasha

    Hi Chelsea. My daughter thought this would be of interest to me, and she was right. As a wealthy person now, (as defined by being in the top 1% of Americans by net worth) who was actually a broke person 20 years ago, I agree with your eight differences about how the wealthy think. I also have a list of differences (I call them attitudes) of the wealthy, and my list has nine items on it, and only two of them sort of match your list. Please let me know if you would like to see my list of nine different attitudes that anyone can adopt.
    And I only have one thing I disagree with, but it was not your list. It was a comment you made prior to starting your list. You said money can change who a person is, like they become less empathetic. Instead, I believe the quote from Warren Buffet is very accurate: "Of the billionaires I have known, money just brings out the basic traits in them. If they were jerks before they had money, they are simply jerks with a billion dollars."
    Your other comment that we do ask questions and want to make our life easier is also something I agree with. Asking questions is one of the key items on my list of nine attitudes.

      DBR Liamg When people say "scientifically proven" it suggests that there are definite put away in the cupboard answers in science. Even the most solid theories we have should be described as "scientifically suggested/shown." In my biology course, we would get points off short answers if we said "proven." I wasn't trying to drag them, it's just a common thing people do that betrays a subtle misunderstanding science.

    • @OAmoretNoctis1Izzy
      @OAmoretNoctis1Izzy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    Time is something we can't buy which is why those who are wealthy are always looking for ways to gain time back i.e. cleaning service, outsourcing, personal assistant, etc. This video was very well put together. I'm consistently wanting to learn about the way wealthy individuals think and work.

    • @jacqueline716
      @jacqueline716 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @ Dirt 117: I think the only grammatical mistake TruFinancials made was the use of "learning" instead of "learn." I assume he knows the correct form. He probably just typed that very quickly and didn't proofread his TH-cam post. Moreover, why didn't *you* use proper grammar in your post, Dirt 117? You shouldn't start your sentence like that. Capitalize the first letter of every sentence and place a period at the end of every sentence. Practice what you preach!

    I know wealthy people and most wealthy people do not follow any of the advice in her previous videos, so why is she speaking for them here? I was born wealthy and I'm sick of wealthy people being praised when most wealthy people are not wealthy because they are more careful, but because of luck. That includes either being born into money or raised with a good education that enables them to earn without excessive debt. Most wealthy people earn more, they do not spend less. She seems to be focused on highly entrepreneurial types, something she should highlight in the title.

    You are AMAZING. So young but so driven!! I feel that your advice is targeted towards millenials, but I am a 63 year old retired teacher and I find your videos very informative, thought inspiring & very often amusing. I am too old to start "investing", but I'm pleased that you are teaching young women that they are responsible for their own financial future & well being. I watch you every day; you've become an interesting, valuable "friend" who I sit down with & get ideas from. I wish that You Tube had been around when I was young as I am..er...aspire to be a writer & believe that I may have the confident flair for public speaking that is needed to present content in such an enthralling way! (so I'm told..). I look forward to future videos & our daily visits.

      63 is super young, my mum has just managed to convinced my 88 y o grandmother to invest her money in short terms investments. She's really happy when at the end of the month she has 90$ more than if she left the money into a regular savings account. She's not making millions obviously but it's better than nothing 😊

  • @Its_like_the_T-Rex
    @Its_like_the_T-Rex 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    At 35, I'm finally feeling in control of my financial future, despite a few debts. I make good money, and have spent years perfecting my budget lifestyle, so I have extra money at the end of each month. I'm confident that my retirement savings are on track and I'm saving for a mortgage down payment next year. When it comes to my 'time value,' I try to avoid outsourcing - where possible. I'd rather learn how to do something myself, and keep my money, thus extending my time value. I've learned how to cut my own hair, cook restaurant quality meals, do my own landscaping, book keeping, home organizing, furniture restoration... I actually enjoy learning new life skills and save thousands a year by DIY'ing. If you approach these life duties as therapeutic, you can simultaneously relax while trimming trees or chopping garlic. I could get another job, but I'd rather learn skills for free while maximizing my cash flow. The rich seem to live for excess. I love little luxuries like weekly flowers, spa days and good wine.. I always make room for a few, but overall I prefer to live life more simply and get more out of time (ex. I travel quite a lot, I took 12 months off last year). Living a rich life doesn't have to mean living with excess. Just maximize what you have, and realize that time is fleeting.

    One thing: please don’t say something is scientifically “proven”. Science can’t prove anything, and saying things like is is what sets up public expectation for science to “prove” things like global warming or vaccines not causing autism when that’s not actually possible based on definition (but which adds fuel to the fire of those debates because people don’t realize that proof isn’t possible).

    To be honest this channel is all good and well but there's a problem with the mentality. 'invest for retirement' 'live on a budget' 'ask your boss for a raise'. Guys if you want to become wealthy stop focusing on saving money, if you feel like your lifestyle congruent with your earnings -> go make more money. There are always options. Entrepeneurship for me personally has helped me alot in this regard and i'm only 21. What i'm trying to say to you guys, stop living in the illusion and cutting of your money just so you can invest for your retirement. But start focussing on the present time and focus on making more money instead of saving. Hope my rant gave some perspective to atleast one person. Cheers

      Limvmil thank you! For some reason, everyone jumps on the same bandwagon when it comes to money and it’s just not how it works. These tips can get you above average life at the most (which is still a lot a for some people, no judgement there). But don’t call this “get rich” habits because they aren’t. The way to get rich is to leverage your abilities in order to bring value to more and more people, then, when money comes, pay off personal debt and invest the rest so it makes immediate income, like starting a fully functioning business, or investing in high value real estate (high value, not high price). These tips apply on how to be rich, not how to get there. And while the way to get there is following a certain framework, it’s mostly different for everyone.

    • @leveluplifestyle5727
      @leveluplifestyle5727 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Why not do both? Out earn your lifestyle AND put money back to grow passively for later. The fact is everyone has a peak earning time in their life self employed or 9-5. It's just good business to put money somewhere that it can grow passively for a time you can't/don't want to perform anymore. The problem with just making more money is most people tend to increase their lifestyle with their income meaning they have nicer things and net no extra money.

Paid a lady to come do my laundry at a small fee just so I can get more time to do my work and still accomplish other tasks. As I turn 30 I've come to realise that time is very equal to money. Use it sparingly 😊

    Your points are all still really helpful but your videos are tipping the balance in becoming an advert. I understand that sponsorship is a big part of keeping the site going but I wonder if it would be helpful for you to find a specific length of time that you talk about the product. At the moment, I would say it's too long.

      Mitch Hop That’s how capitalism works. Money is debt based. The more debt, the more poverty except in the government’s case. The more they print money, inflation and debt increases, and taxes go up.

    Because 2 bags of groceries per week does not really work with two kids ahahah!

    Ooo, i love the idea of Status! Thank you Millennials! Also, I highly recommend a housekeeper if you suffer from depression. It changed my life. No longer did I have the overwhelming task hanging over my head. I lost weight, started dating again, and was really enjoying life again, until I had to file bankruptcy. Lol back on my feet and beyond and reconsidering it for the benefits it gave me.

      Bernie Cat Your post made me smile...sorry about the bankruptcy, and glad you’re getting back on your feet. When we moved into our house I told my husband I wanted to have a house cleaner-we both agreed it would be a marriage saver. He works long hours and cleaning paralyzes me and stresses me out. It has been so great, but I admit I vacillate between feeling thankful and guilty. I always have to talk myself out of the guilt of not doing it myself! Your post made me feel better about it-I think it’s great other people hire out for cleaning when it helps them, why would I not want the same for myself? Cheers!

      @zenseed75 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Julie Flynn Cory oh gosh, please do not feel guilt. You are not only helping yourself and your marriage, you are helping the housekeeper. :) Win, win, win!

      Julie Flynn Cory BTW, the Bankruptcy was the best thing I ever did for myself, even though its not cheap to file. I thought I knew everything when it came to money. I learned a lot. Had to struggle to pay for bills and food for the first time in my life (didnt realize I was living off my credit cards until I didnt have them any more). I will never ever get myself in that position again and be better off for it. :)

    Don't rich people already have money to take risks? They don't have to wait for the green light, they can pay off the fine for running the red light 10x over without feeling that loss financially, which we know has links to your mentality. Imma watch the rest of the video before I get really upset, as it might have tips that can help me.

    Outsourcing is super important in your career. Example; I'm great at social media planning for books, but I'm not good at graphic design. So, I teamed up with another member of our staff and she did the book release graphics, and I did all her social media posts. We ended up with a great launch line up for our next title.

    quick advice.
    next time filming a person wearing glasses, use a defuser instead of ring light. If you diont have a defuser just use a shower curtain or a white sheet in front of your light. It will help loose this terrible effect when the ring light align with presenters glasses and eyes.
    ;)
    *thanks for the video

    I think it would be really useful to define what "wealthy" means in this context. There's a difference between acting "wealthy" with your money and being rich, and there seems to be a lot of confusion with that in the comments.

      Robert Putnam true! Every time I watch a Video of Tfd, to me it sounds like: blablabla, wealthy people are better people than poorer people, blablabla, get rich or you won't be happy, blablabla, rich people are so much smarter....Not to forget the ads for programs or websites no one needs. Why is she never telling people to just do what makes them happy? If spending a couple of bucks at Starbucks every once in a while makes you feel good, do it! I am living in the present, so I warnt to spend some money now and not save every penny for my future. For all I know, I could drop dead tomorrow with all my money in my banc account....
