The name Elland immediately made me think of the Leeds United home ground - Elland Road stadium so it makes me think that Elland is not really that far away from one of Britain's biggest cities and the biggest financial centre in the UK outside of London. I was actually surprised a few years back when I learned just how big Leeds is both in terms of population and in terms of the area it covers. Then you add some of the very sizeable places round about like Bradford, Huddersfield, Halifax, Dewsbury and Keighley. No wonder West Yorkshire has such a large population.
@@EurasiaTransportExplorer it's that variety, together with genuinely decent people that makes Yorkshire such an attractive place to visit. One of my favourite journeys, that you have done is the one where you went from Leeds to Ripon via Harrogate. The lovely scenery and even in Harrogate I love the old stonework buildings and they look after their public gardens and parks so well it's a feast for the eyes to see. So beautiful, and romantic.

The two wide chimneys ahead at 2:16 are ventilation shafts for the railway tunnel immediately after Huddersfield headed towards Sheffield/ Manchester.

Yorkshire does covers plenty of mid-sized cities and towns, but also lots of rural areas as well. Always pleasant to visit.
