    I roll up on 2x12” pads to create more clearance to run my straps. Ferrari is not too bad for most of the models because the front splitter tends to roll up on the leading edge but on Porsche 911 cars, especially the GT cars the bumper strip always seems to get in the way. Your strapping is very thorough and I would have no hesitation about having you transport one of my cars.

    You have E track, use them .Strip over the tires are way better than going through the wheels. Also by crossing the strips through the wheels and ratcheting, wouldn't you put stress on the alignment and throw them off? If that Ferrari was my car and you strip it like that, I would be bit upset.

      Well David I have personally hauled probably over 100 Ferrari's and never once had a complaint. And we actually detail the over the tire technique later in the video around the 6:30 min mark. This video is more or less for the weekend warrior or once a month track hauler who is looking for info on how to strap their car down. Threw the wheel strapping is in most cases actually more secure then over the tire strapping, especially if your new to strapping. Pretty hard to screw up crossing straps. But over the wheel strapping ? I've seen professional car haulers damage cars with that system , as you have to have the wheel of the car perfectly over the E-track and the strap needs to be centered over the tire, because if not, the strap can slide out from the tire. You also need ALOT of E track inside the trailer. Many weekend warriors are working with D Rings, and don't have E Track in the trailer.
      Also, wish bone straps are just as effective as over the tire straps as well - which we also document in the video.

    Putting straps ON the wheels like you did will mark the wheel...not good...never put straps through nice wheels...only over the tires!

    • @AutoTransportForDummies

      You don’t know what your talking about . The nylon axle straps never mark wheels , and if you’re super concerned with it you can use a microfiber towel over the strap that’s contacting the wheel surface . We’ve hauled thousands of cars with the method , not one issue ever. And over the tire is fine also but it’s not the only method that works .

    • @MusicalFanatik
      @MusicalFanatik 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Auto Transport For Dummies Putting microfibre cloths between the wheel surface and strap is a MUST to avoid light rub marks on the wheel surface...I learn’t the hard way when my brand new car was delivered with all 4 BLACK wheels marked from the “strap through the wheel” method the way you did it in this video.

    • @AutoTransportForDummies
      @AutoTransportForDummies 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MusicalFanatik Go outside with a nylon strap and try to scratch the wheel with by rubbing it against the wheel. Good luck. Secondly the only wheels that would even scratch from nylon possibly maybe a 1% chance, are painted and clearcoated wheels. And that’s only if we’re talking using a very dirty strap with debris stuck underneath the strap like rocks or pebbles. If it’s a painted wheel , then yes use a microfiber towel if the car is brand new. But for all alloy , chrome , steel , or aluminum wheels it is virtually impossible to scratch a “metal” wheel with a cloth strap. Like I said , go outside and try it and post the video. And a “mark” or whatever your saying needs to be a fingernail deep scratch . Otherwise it’s not damaged and simply needs to be waxed or buffed out of the surface with wheel polish .

      Auto Transport For Dummies Cars bounce around during it’s journey in the enclosed trailers...and sometimes straps loosen a little...and cars move around putting pressure on the wheels from the loosened straps. If you never had any problems that’s great...but on brand new high end cars, or show cars...you don’t want any part of a strap touching the finish of the wheel without a clean microfibre towel in between 👍

    • @AutoTransportForDummies
      @AutoTransportForDummies 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MusicalFanatik If it’s a painted wheel, sure , it’s probably a good idea to put a microfiber towel down, otherwise it’s impossible pretty much like I said. I would challenge anyone to use a brand new , nylon or cloth strap and try to scratch a metal wheel with it. It’s not happening. And yes a strap can loosen a tiny tiny bit but usually they don’t if tied down properly on all wheels. Also, don’t forget to put the e brake on. Happy hauling .

    We’ve always used a Nylon strap and 2 socks with the bottoms cut off, and Never damaged a rim or tire. Every transporter has his own technique, but I always use 2 straps to each wheel or lower frame component , to crisscross the straps in an X pattern, which protects the car from moving sideways causing damage. 8 straps per car, never less. E track is good, but if a tire loses air pressure, your in trouble. Subscribe to my TH-cam channel and Facebook and Instagram pages . Tinys Transportation and Tinys Towing. Hey. if you fix the machine in the first way straps do not scratch the wheel during transportation?

    • @AutoTransportForDummies
      @AutoTransportForDummies 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No they don’t ; we’ve used professionally on hundreds of transports. You won’t scratch the wheels with the nylon straps through the wheel . But if you have painted and clear coated rims , you can put a microfiber towel over the strap to add even more protection!

    E -Track is the only way to go, two rows of track on both sides...just add another row man you won't have to worry about all that mess, strapping through the wheels and suspension. Single strap over each wheel.....three-point e track not the typical two you buy at Love's, that way you never have to worry about straps rubbing splitters or diffusers..... I had to learn the hard and extremely painful way.
