Once they remove their advertisements, that’s when the magazine, the source start going down hill under sales. Every new episode of the source got thinner thinner my XXL was growing and growing.

I remember the first time I heard Benzino rap, I will never forget it. It was 2012 and I was at my uncle’s house, he’s disabled after he was in a car accident back 1992. Unfortunately he was paralysed from the neck down. So I was browsing TH-cam and “pull your skirt up” came on…miraculously my uncle leapt from his wheelchair, dived across the room and grabbed my phone. He then proceeded to stamp it until it was no more. 20 years without being able to move and he was cured by hearing Benzino “rap”.

Yeah… wildly unpopular opinion I know but personally I don’t understand Eminem’s place in the pantheon. He is a good rapper, I just don’t think he is a great rapper, and I suspect that part of it was bc the powers that be recognised that they could make a lot of money by pushing him. IMO he is not on the level of Nas or Big or Rae/Ghost/Gza or less commercially successful rappers like Mos or Kweli or Cee-lo. Having said that it’s not really just a race thing, he is not the first artist and won’t be the last who has been pushed because he has the right look / persona. Or even charisma, that is very subjective, Pac was not the best rapper imo but had charisma by the bucketload and although I don’t see it in Eminem perhaps others do.

Yes, Benzino’s complaint seems very fake / contrived, as a way to leech off Em’s success. It just looks very clear, now that I see him and hear him, in this vid. Plus it seems vaguely racist, and plus this vid showed me that he sucks at rapping too. His rhymes are simple and often not even actually rhymes, from the clips in this vid, I wasn’t impressed at all.

Em sold a lot cause of quality for sure. but tbh, if eminem would've been black, he wouldn't have blown up as hard as he did in the mainstream, especially considering his early texts during this time. There wouldn't be as much radio play.
Benzino could've used his platform to put on lesser known artists, provide resources for them to flourish and let them use that platform to stand independently without the machine.
