This tiny house was painstakingly designed to include several slacker hacks in order to achieve maximum long term livability at an amazingly affordable price.
The main design focus was avoiding what Scott calls "one-room-itis," which is when tiny houses feel like one big room and fail to have clearly delineated spaces and rooms. Each separate space in the Slacker 27 Special is clearly defined to pack seven markedly different spaces into 242 square feet.
Another focus of the design was on creating a home that allowed its people to seamlessly flow between sharing space and taking separate space. There are four spots throughout the house where people could be out of each other's eye sight while still being in very close physical proximity. Scott was thinking specifically of introverted individuals who may be intimidated by the idea of sharing such a small space with their extroverted companion.
Slacker Scott can't help but slack and hack and this design was no exception. This build design includes one "faux gooseneck" loft built five feet out over the tongues and another loft cantilevered two feet over the houses footprint to create a 27 foot long tiny house on a 20 foot long trailer. Other slacker hacks include positioning the couch under the cantilevered loft and building the bed directly above the bathroom.
The base of this tiny house is a 20 foot long and 8.5 foot wide equipment hauler bumper-pull trailer that sits 36 inches off the ground. The highest part of the house rises to 13 feet off the ground in order to stay in compliance with transportation regulations. Scott has towed the tiny house across the US twice and the design and construction have proved to be road worthy.
Scott built this entire tiny house in three months part time all by himself. Framing and tiling felt comfortable, but learning the electrical and plumbing skills were stretches. Regardless of your previous skills, you can totally learn everything you need to build your own tiny home! Watch lots of videos, ask lots of questions, get a coach. You will never feel more at home than in a house you built yourself!
This design and build has also been overly road tested. Scott built the tiny house in Virginia, towed it to California, and then towed it to North Carolina. 5000K miles total and everything worked flawlessly! - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
Wow! This is one of the best DIY tiny home builds I've seen thus far. And, the fact that you were able to do it for $27k is even more impressive. Kudos to you Scott.
That is high praise! I super appreciate that! And I think it would be even less expensive now because I built it Oct-Dec 2021 when lumber was really expensive!
the very best i have ever seen.. good use of space. everything is a favourite for me
Wow! Fantastic design!
I enjoyed the tour. I love that you created so many separate spaces, effectively making the home function like a much larger one than it is. You should definitely be proud of your home!
Please allow me to offer a suggestion. Lots of TH-camrs (for reasons I cannot fathom) feel that it's important to have background music playing throughout their videos. But for their audience members with hearing difficulties, music playing WHILE SOMEONE IS TALKING makes it exponentially more difficult to understand what is being said. If you would limit the music to the parts of the video where you are NOT speaking, it would be more accessible to those with hearing difficulties. Please consider making this accommodation in your future videos. It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much for sharing your needs and what could be more helpful! Over Christmas break I will upload a version with no music and leave the link here!
I add music behind it in part to keep attention and also to build the energy. I’m also a musician and the music behind my videos is all music that me/my band mate have made. So it’s fun to add more layers of my creativity to the video. I try to compressed the speaking a lot to make it as clear as possible, but I’m also not the most clear speaker in general! Thanks again!
@@slacker-scott I feel the same way! loved seeing your amazing tiny house, but sadly had to stop the video half way as I couldn't stand the background music any more. It completely draws my attention away from what you're saying. Hope to see the video you upload without the background music soon :)
I'm also hearing impaired. You could consider wearing a microphone while filming to add voice clarity that doesn't compete with the music. @@slacker-scott
Very impressive! You have made an actual living space with a big couch. The majority of little houses have like one chair.
Yes! That was really important to me to have a couch that I could curl up on! The French doors start where they do specifically so I had room for the chaise!
I think this is the best I have seen, and I look at a lot of tiny homes! Excellent use of space, and I like the delineation of rooms. Great job!👍😍
What a compliment! I sincerely thank you for that! I spent a lot of time trying to make it perfect! 🖤🛠️✨I think I have an even better one dreamed up next for an even shorter trailer! 😅
Very impressive, looks like you really did your homework and came up with one of the best tiny home designs I have ever seen.
You have every reason to be proud of yourself.
Thank you so so much for expressing that sentiment! That really fills my heart with joy!
Love that you can stand up in the bedroom. So many tiny homes I have seen have you crouching around. Nice design and efficient use of space!
What's the tiny toilet?
I know! Out of all the spaces to be crouching, getting dressed and ready is not the space. Haha. And the toilet is the Tiny by Separette. To me it’s the most aesthetically pleasing composting toilet I found.
So cozy! It looks like you have a great parking spot as well! Your dogs and cat are adorable. Great build. I'm always so impressed when someone just dives in and builds their own TH.
Thank you so much! It's super cozy! I'm currently sitting on our couch with a warm cup of coffee, both dogs cuddled up next to me, the fire place on, and a favorite record playing (Dogwood Tales)! Cozy indeed :-)
I love how it doesn’t feel like a tiny hime. You made great use of space and the separation adds to it. Amazing! 😊
It really doesn't feel like a tiny home! It's been two years in it so far and it's so crazy how we haven't come even close to hitting a limit of feeling cramped or like it was two small! Thanks so much :-)
I absolutely loved every square inch, of what you call "h❤me!" And tbh my favorite was the ceiling. Talk about killing it, you guy's rocked that!! Love your home, merry Christmas to you all 🎄🎅🎁🤶☃️💝
Thanks! The ceiling was a labor of love for sure! Almost gave up 2/3s of the way through! Haha merry Christmas to you too! 🎄
Great design
I’m glad you like it!
What a great build in only 25 ft. and only 27,000! I love the kitchen! Happy that you landed in such a great space in NC.
Thanks! The kitchen is really fun to cook in and it's been a blast cooking almost everything you could in a bigger kitchen. Even did croissants lately!
nice tiny house, nice video
Thank you so much! I had a lot of fun making both of them!
So bright & organized. Love the lighting & bookshelves. Your animals approve of your work.
Though I, personally, couldn't handle living in such a small space without feeling claustrophobic, I applaud you for your ingenuity and obvious well-thought-out planning! Every space is accounted for and is functional! And I am amazed at your talents! You should, indeed, be very proud of your accomplishment and for designing your dream home for under $28k! Everything looks polished and beautiful. I love the pallet wood ceilings....and I love your adorable pets!
Thank you so so much! I am super proud and love living here! I've been surprised how not claustrophobic it feels living her full time, but it definitely isn't for everyone. Cause some of them do feel like very tight quarters! Thanks again for your sweet words!
Great to see a tiny home that isn't a mini mansion... doesn't that defeat the purpose. Your place is great !
haha yes! Maybe mine should be called a teeny house and the mansions should be called tiny houses 😂
Very well thought out, I love it ❤
Thanks friend!
I love the full tour of the space! Great video man. It’s fun to hear about why you all have set your house up the way you have. Very well planned. It’s been a minute, hope y’all are well!
Thanks Forrest! I really appreciate the kind words! It's been a minute for sure, I hope you are well too!
Beautiful you did an awesome job
Thank you kindly!
Love it.
Thank you!
I love his tiny! I love how he has a sitting space and a tv room. Brilliant I must say. 😊
Yes! I love having the tv spot being a little separated from the normal living space. Definitely encourages me to dial back my tv consumption slightly!
One of the best minimalist layouts.
wow, this is the best tiny house i've ever seen. been watching a alot of tiny houses tour video, but this one is really enjoyed to watch. what a beautiful house!
Wow, thank you friend!! that is a huge compliment! Do you have plans to move into a tiny house sometime?
Beautiful and well thought out, Scott!! Thanks for the tour.😊
You are so welcome! ☺️
Excellent well thought out space! Wonderful job 🌟
Thank you so much!
This is the best tiny I’ve ever seen..love the floor plan. Excellent job.
That is so incredibly kind! Thank you! It definitely feels like a perfect little floor plan to live in :-)
Beautiful work! You've made an incredible dream home! Thank you for showing it to the world! One of the best designs I've seen in a VERY long time!
That is high praise and I don't take it lightly! Thanks so so much!
Excellent use of space and materials 🎉
Every square inch counts! Which is why I framed some stuff with 2x3s instead of 2x4s! 😂🛠🖤
Very well designed and I love that it doesn't feel small!
Thank you friend! Even after two years it doesn't feel small!
I absolutely love it. Amazing neutral colours, very calming and soothing.
Yes! The minimalistic colors definitely suit us well! Thanks
One of the best interior designs I have ever seen. Bravo.
That is incredibly sweet! Thank you!
I love gooseneck design and you have really got best of both worlds here with your design
Thanks! I really wanted the gooseneck design without the cost. I had no idea if it would work when I got started, but I’m so glad it did! Haha. It was kinda a leap of faith
So comfy, with big house details. ❤ your build!
Awe! Thank you so so much! 💛
Oh, my goodness! This tiny house is so functional, huge, cozy, stylish and just gorgeous. Scott, you really did an ingenious job creating that. I like all the wood pieces and room zoning. One of the best tiny houses I've seen. Hands down to you, Scott. 🎉
Awe! Thank you so so so much! I don't think anyone has called it ingenious yet 😍 I appreciate the kind words! And yes. all the wood is definitely one of my favorite pieces as well!
That’s so impressive that you built it yourself and in such a short amount of time!!! Great job!!!😊
Thanks for the kind words! I really appreciate it!
Amazing and so impressive!
@@slacker-scott of course!!! All the other videos where people build their own houses, it usually takes them a year or two. You are an impressive builder!!!
Awe thanks! It was really the most fun I have ever had building it. I can’t wait to build my next one! I have a similar design in mind with a 16 foot trailer I want to do next
@@slacker-scott Do you build them to sell, or just as a hobby?
Great tour, beautiful house, what an achievement to have done this on your own, I loved EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!
Awe thanks so much! I really appreciate that! It's been the proudest thing that I have ever done and I'm so happy to be living in my creation!🥰
I love it, you did an awesome job!
I super appreciate the compliment!
Love your home!! Super well thought out design. You have a genuis streak for small spaces!!
That bath is a spa!!
Genius streak!? I'm blushing! But actually funny you should say that. The next two builds I have drawn up plans for is the Slacker Sweet 16 (similar concept but on a 16 foot trailer) and the Slacker Super Single (the tinyiest tiny home I could imagine for one person to have everything!). So small spaces that feel big are sorta becoming my jam! haha
I absolutely Love this! Love the wood, the sink in bathroom, the loft above couch.
Awe! Thank you so much! You are probably the first sink comment! I'm glad you liked it too!
Amazing design! Great job! Thanks for the inspiration! Can’t wait to see more videos! 👍
What kind of other videos would you be excited to see?! I'm glad to hear it was inspiring!
Thanks for the tour of your lovely and well designed home!
You are so welcome!
Fantastic design, with so many clever ideas! Thanks for posting the video.
You are so welcome! I hope it helps!
@@slacker-scott It was very helpful, especially showing how to get the benefits of a gooseneck without having a gooseneck. A lot of folks considering a tiny house will be very interested in that. 👍
Yes! I was so excited that the faux gooseneck worked so well when we moved it for the first time!
well done, your should be proud. great job. it really is fantastic.
Thanks so much!
You did a great job! I love that you have an actual floor to ceiling bookcase.
Yes! That was my partners request and it really ties the whole house together! 🥰
This has got to be the best planned and attractive tiny house I have seen. Wow, thank you for sharing. Amazing build.
Wow! That is quite the compliment! Thank you so incredibly much for your kind words!
Beautiful. LOVE the wood.
Yes!! I’ve been working with pallet wood the last ten years and love when I can incorporate it into projects!
I love the layout. Perfection
Perfect comment! ✨ haha
I love it. Very thoughtfully executed home.
Thanks friend! I tried to spend a lot of time thinking up the perfect layout!
Fabulous design. Well done!
Thanks so much!
What a great design , I have seen kitchens like that but yours has the best storage I have seen yet...and everyone knows storage is a great thing in a tiny. I also like the fact you can get dressed in your bedroom....Well Done
Thank you so much! Storage is key! I think so much cabinet space gets wasted because most people hate/are uncomfortable bending over and digging for stuff, so the slides are key! And yes!! you have to be able to get dressed in your room!
Super cool, clean and organized
Thank you 😊
You did a fantastic job! I really love you tiny house:)
Very sincerely, thank you! :-)
This has a great design layout, Scott!
That was the thing I spent to most time working on! So thank you very very much!
I absolutely love your home! The drawers for supplies is what I would choose, no cabinet doors in my short face! God bless you aways!❤
Awe thanks! Drawers over cabinets every time! 🖤
Well done, 👍 ♥
Thanks so much!
AGREE. One of the best ive ever seen, great job and love to all your fury friends. xxxxx
Thank you so incredibly much! xoxoxo
This is really brilliant. All the best to you for 2024!
All the best to you too! Thanks! Also, I love to say all the bestestestest in my email signature! haha, I'm sure no one pronounces it right or understands. But it cracks me up!
It's Fabulous!!! What more could you want? Love the exterior too. So charming and great nature vibe. Kudos to you and best wishes!!!
The exterior was the place I felt the least confident! So I tried to keep it simple. Thanks so much for the compliment!
This is amazing. Awesome job!
Thank you! 🤘
I admire your efficiency!
Efficiency and thriftyness is the name of the game! Thanks!
Scott, wonderful design, all functional. So well thought out. And that's what to do with the guitars--I really wondered about that. So much ambiance. Love all of the woods, texture, natural design. And--a Scottie dog, beautiful. Love his yard, all fenced in and safe. Where The Wild Things Are--fave book. Say hi to Max.
Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment and kind words! It's crazy to me how much more I pick up my instruments to play when they are out and about inside of in their case. Having them there has been one of the best moves! And the Scottie is Charles! He has been my best bud for going on 10 years now! I also have a fun where the wild things are tattoo! big fan as well!
GREAT design! ❤
thanks!! 🙏
That's an awesome house! You should be proud.
I am very proud and thanks for that kind affirmation!
Wow!!! This is awesome ❤
I love that term one roomitis ! I agree 💯
haha yes! one-room-itis I'm sure has lead to a short lived tiny life for many people! Time to cure the world of the disease! haha 🤣
Great design!
Thanks so much! 🖤
For a tiny house it's just such a nice space, ❤
I agree! Thanks friend!
YES!!!!!!!!!!! to the Introvert thoughts! #hero!
Someone's got to think of them! haha (even though I am clearly not an introvert!) So many of my friends are introverts. I love them!
You are talented. Nice tiny home
Awe! Thanks! The talent is at least 1/2 just starting, failing, and pivoting 🤘
Love kitchen set up!
Thank you! I am planning to do a kitchen deep dive tour soon! We have a few hidden things so showcase, like where our ice machine is and where we need our recyclable shopping bags! haha
Love what you did!
Awe! Thank you so much!
Really like your layout!
Thank you so much! You can grab a free layout PDF in the link in the description!
Absolutely Stunning ❤❤
Are you talking about the tiny or the pets? haha or me ;-) Seriously though, thank you so much!
@@slacker-scott Everything... Your build is comfortable stylish and cozy .. The animals are awesome..
Love your design. I find it ideal. Subscribed.
Thanks for that! There will be more to come soon!
Dude this is clever! You're very creative
I appreciate that! And love the dude! Haha. It’s been a while since I’ve been called dude. That’s one thing I miss about Cali! Haha
Very very well planned and designed!! Like it very very much. Have to go to a laundromat…also no pantry storage, but one bookshelf with sliding doors would solve that! GREAT JOB!
Thank you! And yes, we do have to go to a laundromat, but I don't mind too much! And I actually really enjoy shopping for groceries on my way home from work, so I'm not exactly a pantry person. haha. But there is still so much space for food I don't utilize!
A very nice home!
Thank you so much!
Nice design!
Thank you! Cheers!
There is more space in this tiny kitchen than new york small apartments. Plus the whole tiny housevis beautifully designed and practical.
There is a lot of space for sure! Its a lot of fun to cook in this kitchen! My favorite are some of the small sized kitchen utensils and tools haha. Thanks so much for your kind words!
Are you a Heinlein fan? "I'm not lazy, I'm just efficient" is said by characters in a few of his novels. I've always loved that idea.
Brilliant design! I've watched dozens of tiny-house videos, and yours really stands out from the crowd. Congratulations! I'll be looking at some of your other videos to see what else you've done. Thanks!
I am not, but I love that his characters say that! I wonder if he is also an Enneagram 7 like myself (personality type) because reframing laziness into efficiency seems pretty trade mark 7 to me! haha. But thank you so much for the compliment! I really appreciate it and am really happy to stand out!
Pets are super cute. So is the house.
Thanks! We think so too 🐾 Our scottie definitely needed a haircut though haha!
Looks great!!! I wish i had the cash and the help to build my own tiny house. Ty for sharing and showing your very nice tiny home! Love it!!
You can totally do it! I financed most of mine through cards, but I actually wish I would have gotten a personal loan instead. I recently did get a personal loan through the Credit Karma app (not a sponsor or anything!) to consolidate credit card debt and it was super easy! If your credit isn't where you want it, a slacker hack is to talk to a mortgage lender (they love giving you free, great advice on how to increase your credit scores!). The help might be a little harder to find, but I would imagine you could find maybe a kind task rabbit, or craigslist person, or someone through one of the tiny house facebook groups in your area. Don't give up! Thanks for your kind words!
WOW!! absolutely love this and could live here in a heartbeat! It’s so funny to see this degree of intelligence, creativity and determination from a TH-camr that calls himself a slacker! If that is slacking, I want to be a slacker, too!
You are welcome to join the rank of slacker anytime! haha. We (not sure who else is in the club yet! haha but let's go with we) would love to have you! All of those adjectives are really encouraging! Thanks for taking the time to write out such a thoughtful comment!
I love it.
🥰
You built a house that happens to be tiny to make a home. So many tiny homes have no place to eat other than sitting on one of two chairs, the bed is up a ladder and every space is "multi-purpose". You built a beautiful home at a very reasonable cost and didn't sacrifice functional needs or design. Well done!
You are so kind! I agree with you too. A lot of tiny houses kind of feel like hotels in terms of lounge space, there is the bed and then one weird chair that looks cozier than it is! haha.
that loft above the couch is a great idea.
I saw this one tiny house a while back that had a walkway above a couch (probably sitting 5 feet 6 inches from the ground and hanging out maybe 2 feet) and it sparked the idea to try and see how low I could place the loft to not hit your head when getting up and down, and then have it hang out the full three feet. So cheers to that tiny house! Haha. And also thank you!
I'm still in the Dreamer stage of getting a tiny house and moving out of California. I'm 6'2 so having that walkway is great .@@slacker-scott
super awesome
Super thank you!
your home has a good feel...
awe thanks! I agree!
What a rad build! I especially enjoyed the thoughtfulness of each space to delineate each room. Have you utilized humidity control, air purifiers or water purification?
Thanks friend! Humidity wise the winter doesn’t bother me so we don’t use anything. In the summer though we have two small window units that go on each end of the house and that takes out the excess summer humidity quite well. We do have an air purifier in the loft next to our bed, but it mostly serves as a white noise machine! Haha. And we did put a water filter on our water supply and also show hose head supply. Thanks for asking!
I'm proud of you. I want to build mine, but I don't own a lot/land. I'm scared to build one for safety and permit issues, but I need one cause I don't want to deal with rent anywhere in the US. Would need solar panels and use portable battery power stations, etc. I would also need to borrow equipment & tools. Hopefully, people will take me seriously since I am a female.
Thank you :-) You can totally build yours! I also don't have a lot or land. I have lived three different places and all of those have been places we have rented a little place to set up. I found one spot on a friends land, one from Craigslist parking ads, and one from a tiny house Facebook page for the area I was moving!
In my experience, most of the tiny house life is unpermitted. I personally enjoy that part. I've found that you often can't live in the city, but have to live out in the county (I've lived about 20-25 minutes away from the city center each spot I've lived. I've noticed most counties don't have the resources to actively enforce code and zoning restrictions, so they are more reactionary, meaning they will investigate things after a complaint. So making friends with your neighbors and respecting everyone's shared space goes a long way!
What safety issues are you scared about?
When I first got started with living tiny, I couldn't quite wrap my mind around how to live off grid, but now, two years in, it's a lot clearer. Definitely electrical to solar, and also moving a lot of electric to propane (hot water, stove, winter heat) when possible. And water wise, a lot of areas will deliver water to fill a supply tank, from there you would just need to add a pump to create that pressure!
You can definitely borrow tools, but you can also find most the tools you need for $600-700 dollars at Harbor Freight. Not sure if that is less expensive than you thought or not.
I can't speak for everyone else, but I definitely take girls seriously!!! :-) I hope you can make your dream happen someday!
Why does that make you a victim of not being taken seriously?
When people end with excuses, people don't take them seriously.
Want to know who is not a victim? The ones that do. If you are legit, STOP making excuses like "you're a female" and learn. Believe in yourself cause ain't no one gonna do it for you.
amazing job. "à la carte" could we say i french : you built it exactly according your criterias. i'm specially interested on the fact that we don't feel claustrophobic in this place . so friendly with these furr friends.
It is definitely crazy how open the space feels! Last year for my birthday, we had a karaoke party and had 16 people inside the tiny house!!! Thanks so much for your kind words!
Eres muy simpático! .
Thanks so much!
Amazing! Feels soo much bigger than it is! ❤
Would you happen to have the floor plan available Scott?
Yes! The link in the video description has all that available! Thanks so much for the compliment! 🤘
Awesome. How well you've thought out the configeration. For enabling two people to have their own space is ingenius.Bravo. ps, won't your records warp above the heater? Great job, thank you.
Awe, thanks! And the records have actually been totally fine with the heat. It’s an inch thick so I think that’s a bit part of it. The only time we had a record and heat problem was last Christmas. One of the stocking hung down in front of the heating element and it built up heat between the stockings and records and warped the first track on a handful of records 😩 but I guess it gives them more character now? 🤷🏻♂️
Que casa tão bonita e funcional!
Gostei dos vários espaços .
Também gostei de ver cães e um gato sempre a acompanhar o dono.
💖🌼
Thank you so much! Even adding four animals to the house doesn’t seem so crammed! 🐶🐱🐾
I love your house! Such ingenious design and I particularly love all the reclaimed wood you used! As a mother of cats, I'm curious where you keep your litterbox(es). And do you have a washer and dryer? Really great job!!
Thanks so much for your kind words!! I’ve been working with reclaimed wood (mostly pallet wood) for 10 years and it’s my very favorite! There is something about taking the worst scraps of lumber, that have been beat up and damaged, and transforming them into something beautiful!
And the litter box has actually moved around quite a lot! Haha. It’s been in the TV loft, the porch, etc, but now our cats are indoor/outdoor and just go outside.
And no washer and dryer on this one. I have a space for it in the bedroom loft, but I’m not sure if I’ll get one because I kinda like washing at friend’s houses when we hang! Haha
Amazing job! You took it way over the top with your ingenious design to imitate a goose neck trailer. Love your simple design with the delineated separate areas. I would need a bigger fridge and kitchen overall but I couldn't come up with a way I could incorporate it into the design. Is there storage above the bathroom? It seems as though there is an additional area behind the bed. How wide is the hallway up to the gooseneck loft?
Love it! ❤❤❤❤️.
Thanks! Being able to have that gooseneck space was crucial for me and I'm so glad it worked! wasn't 100% when I started! Above the bedroom is the bed, it sits right on top of it! My shoulders are 22 inches wide, so I have the hallway at 24.
I want to build another version similar to this, but the side with the TV loft has the kitchen. It would have three easy steps up to it just like the bedroom, and the living room would be where the kitchen currently is on mine. It would give you 16 feet of counter space instead of the 9 feet I have currently!

💁🏻♂️🥰
Beautiful house, and so small you van comfortly travel with it. One question though, what do you do with your overcoats in wintertime when you enter the house 🤔🤔🤗
Thanks for the complement. Our van can not pull the tiny house, but I do love that it matches 🖤 And we hang our coats up by our bed. We each have 5 or 6 different jackets hanging up there. Lots of space for us! If you wanted a coat rack by the main doors. You could definitely hang them where the backpacks currently are.
Hey Scott, could you do a video or series on how you paid for the house and sourced the materials? Like what was free or scavenged, what did you have to buy, what scale and budget did you have for the materials, and did you have $27k saved up all at once or did you come up with money bit by bit as you built? Also, what help did you have? Volunteer or paid? I'm planning my future project for when I finish with grad school and I want to get the logistics down. Love the design of your sleeping loft, by the way. Only thing is I need that huge skylight above the bed! :)
Thank you so much for asking! I will 100% make this video for you! But I'll give you the short version here too. The only free and scavenged materials are the barn wood in the kitchen and bathroom and pallet wood ceiling (but I kinda had to pay for the pallet wood because the craigslist add was for ALL the pallets this place had and they said don't come unless you can take them ALL, so I rented a giant uhaul! haha).
I did not have the money saved up when I started. I financed the trailer (so 7K of the cost is being spread out), then I pulled 4K out of a whole life insurance policy I have, then I had about 12K of available credit on my credit cards and I used that. Then the rest I used extra from my paycheck to pay for over 3 months. I had zero help, so the entire thing was built by me, myself, and I (which I am really proud of!) but of course I had some advice from trusted folks and the youtubes!
That is so awesome you are planning for a future project! What are you in grad school for? And yes! A sky light would be so so cool! I am just afraid of cutting into my roof for water reasons! haha.
Nice
Thanks friend!
Awesome design and craftsmanship. Where in NC did you set it up?
Thanks so much! I am set up in the Asheville area!
This is a great design! As you create more content, I'd love to learn more about the plumbing and water. Do you have a well? What do you do with grey water? A lot of these details are left out of tiny home videos. Also, have you ever had the house where temps are below 32 degrees for a significant amount of time? Thanks!
Thanks so much! I’ll definitely do a video soon about the nitty gritty details like the plumbing and water. The property we are on does have a well. We have dug a drain hole in the ground and filled it with gravel and drain our grey water there so it doesn’t erode away the top soil. And yes! It’s definitely been through times of being below freezing for extended time! All last week was in the single digits!!
Thank you - all great info. So many TH videos only focus on the look and design..which is important but leaves a lot to be desired.@@slacker-scott
