This has been the first time I have listened to your show from the UK 🇬🇧 It’s been very informative. For me CAA is the unfinished business of partition and is relevant to all those minorities who for one reason or another just couldn’t come across the border. I hope to watch many more interesting topics on your show.

I am from the Valmiki caste which is essentially part of Hinduism and I hope that in one of your shows you can explore caste and whether Hindus from the untouchable caste are moving forward in modern day India. And whether peoples perceptions have changed in what is supposed to be a meritocratic society.

Great discussion. So good to hear Amana & Zeba clarify India’s CAA for US audience! A humanitarian law to help persecuted minority faith refugees from Pakistan, Afghanistan, & Bangladesh. 8 US cities passed anti-CAA resolutions in 2020, thereby standing w abusers, rapists, Islamic clergy who persecute Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist girls! Shouldn’t American cities/politicians use diligence & basic research before signing any resolutions?

The CAA opposition is politically motivated to reduce Modi popularity and see if he can be voted out. There are many Hindu secularists thinks CAA is discriminatory , so much is propaganda !

To begin with most Muslims in South Asia (Afghanistan, India, Pakistan & Bangladesh) who were converted during the Muslim/Mughal rules were from the economically backward Hindu/Budhist community. Post 1947, ruling political party at the center took advantage of the situation of Muslims as a community and did very little to improve their economic standing, and used them as a vote bank.

If religion remains parsonal choice and all the citizens become Indians first, problems between religions and ethnicity disappear.
