Brilliant discussion. Really enjoy the way you present and offers some great questions to better prepare projects and ideas for presentation to buyers.
Great video man. "Why now?" Is a challenging but important question to strenghthen your pitch. You've made us just add another heading to our business plan. Thanks :)
Excellent episode as always brotha! I got that same question from 3 different companies I pictched to last year. It's interesting, even if it you think it's self explanatory fornwhy now they may or may not have those same perceptioms. Like diverse and timley content (i.e. BIPOC) and they know it, I felt as if they still wanted to ask and get a read on me and why I think it's timley and important to see where Im at as a creator. Great info.
Thanks for touching this subject, i always thought they could ask something like this... I dont think "because space stuff its pretty cool" it's enough of an answer
When you say that we have to show that we are also the best person to talk about the subject of our cartoon, how would one prove that in a short conversation? Is it a matter of talking up degrees, or showing off a large body of work in that theme? + Would not have heard about Gallery Nucleus' show if not for this video, thank you! MindGames, also one of my favorites for its message.
Good question! I'd say the art is to get your buyer/audience excited and impressed as quickly as possible. For example, I tell people that I'm a 26 year animation vet who's worked in Japan, is passionate about drama and socially important issues, and am of Filipino descent. I would hope that's enough for them to 'get' me!
@@SurvivingAnimation Thanks for the great answer! I can already think of a few things I can do talk myself up if/when I get asked why I'm the best person for the job. Cheers!
@@SurvivingAnimation hi eric. One quick question. What is the animation studio used for the prime wars trilogy? Since i want to make a show and also tell me who made the animation models?
@@MamtaSingh-em1gd Hey there and thanks for watching. The Prime Wars trilogy was produced by Tatsunoko Productions in Japan, but the 3D models were created by a small Japanese company known as Scarab who are mostly known domestically for making 3D animation for pachinko machines. They all worked extremely hard and under excruciating deadlines to deliver that little series on time and on budget.
@@SurvivingAnimation i know you had short budget and deadlines too. Tahts why even the limited conditions i respect everything you put to prime wars trilogy
Thank you ...Why now& why me .I like it ASAP , and worried about political copy cats lol and i like you mention about spaceship , i think i will runs business well (weird things ), and why me? why me, it my story ,its my culture and actually i need someone with my same culture or help :)LOL any help. How i can email you?
Makes me sad that basically every cartoon nowadays has to have some political undertone. They're kids. Can't we let THEM be happy without forcefeeding them propaganda?
If you think politics aren't vital, it's because you're actually represented well by the people in power and don't feel like you're being exploited. But if you are not well represented, or if you value ensuring that *all* people get representation in government, then you want children to at least have an understanding of power dynamics, fairness, and discrimination. Imagine you're a kid growing up in the 80s in Soviet Russia. You might just watch slapstick, or you might see stories about how sometimes people who tell you they're trying to help are lying, and how if someone punishes you for speaking up, that's a good way to know that they aren't trying to help you. The latter would help a generation be more aware that no, they can't just be complacent and be happy. If they want to be happy, they need to understand who's trying to exploit them.
Thank you for your comment! But I don't think that's necessarily what I'm saying. 'Why now' means 'important or relevant for us now' not necessarily political. Which, as I mentioned, might just mean that it's a good time for a silly comedy because we haven't had one in a while! But, and not to shy away from it, it could also mean something very relevant like having more POC major/minor characters in animated series or as behind-the-scenes talent.
You're talking about things nobody else is, thanks man
Really appreciate your insight. Your perspective is inspiring, thank you for sharing it.
Another great topic! Thank you Eric!
Its time to watch all these videos
“Why now?” Is a great way to check your self. Thank you for another 💎
Thank you for your great insights! You explain the animation process so eloquently.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you! This is exactly my point of confusion in my current pitch.

Thanks for watching and for your lovely comment! 😊
Good ep. Sort of makes you look at your pitch as a kind of puzzle piece, and how it fits into the industry, even the culture as a whole.
Great video Eric! I’ll keep this in mind as I continue building my animated series.

All of his advice requires an extremely painful process: introspection.
