Also, a note about the look and feel of this video, I am in "experiment" mode and playing around a bit, the next videos might all look completely different aesthetically whilst I figure out what style I really like. I am a dark skinned Kenyan girl from Kenya who actually was never that bothered to date given how much I deviated from the standard of what men want. Actually I did have a Kenyan bf who treated me so well but we just didn't work out. I was naturally focused on dating very dark Kenyan man as a result of this relationship. However my type wanted the light skin or the curvy girl. I was so never interested in or understood why ladies loved to date interracially because it was just not the standard in my environment. All I heard also was horror stories when ladies dated Caucasian men. Oh how wrong I was. I will leave that at that. I am grateful that I am affirmed daily and my well being someone's priority that his race is not important. In short, love who loves you is my Motto now for life!! ❤❤❤❤

    i had a Persian work friend who was from Iran; everyday for 3 years at work, he purchased my coworker and I lunch, would buy us gift cards for our birthday, would always volunteer to drive and pick us up if we had to have car work done during work hours….he did all of this for us, as friends. I have never had a BM do those things for me, that was not related to me. I have experienced this time and time again with other races, it’s time for me to step out of the box I’ve put myself in.

    I’m a BW and I’ve been dating a Lebanese man for the past year and a half, and my experience has been life changing. Initially it was difficult for me to detach myself from the “black love” narrative that I had placed on a pedestal all my life, but overcoming that mindset has been one of life’s greatest lessons for me, not only in terms of romantic relationships but just in general. It has taught me to not limit myself to familiar or comfortable experiences, that love can be found with anyone, and that you need to experience things for yourself. I cannot stress this enough, GO WHERE YOU ARE LOVED, CHERISHED, and RESPECTED. Princess treatment has been the norm for me since we started dating, and he refuses to have it any other way.

    I have a 6-year-old daughter, and I've steered away from teaching her to aspire to marriage. I've been teaching her about seeing the world, becoming a figure skater, or whomever she wants. I am a happily married woman experiencing black love, but I know this isn't the reality for a lot of black women, and I want her to know that there are other forms of purpose and happiness outside of a man. I'm hoping that passing the torch to her this way will prevent massive trauma or disappointment if feces are still in the dating pool by the time she comes of age.

      Just a suggestion, I hope I’m not overstepping but a lot of black women have shared that they weren’t taught about how to attract good men and that made it easier for them to end up in unsavoury relationships, I think you’re absolutely right with not making marriage the end all be all but also telling her and showing her what real love looks like and what standards she should have and teaching her how to interact with men when she begins dating might help her navigate that better as well, love is a big part of life too I hope she gets the best of everything this world has to offer her, you’re doing a great job as a mother 🥰🫶🏽

      When she starts dating I would think about dating with intention to prevent meeting men with no future. I would go as far as to search for proper suitors for my daughter like arranged marriages but more modern. She would be in control of her choice and even if she met someone else he can join the pool to compete for her. No losers and no baby daddies! Loyal Husbands only need apply.

      @@Tiredttttttt You're not overstepping at all! This is a very important conversation. 🥰 I do want to clarify that I am not going out of my way to discourage her from marriage, but rather just offering her alternatives.
      I have mixed feelings about teaching girls how to attract good men. A lot of Black women I know (including myself) were taught to go to school because good men want smart girls, and stay in shape because if you want someone physically attractive, you have to be physically attractive. Love the Lord because good men love God-fearing women, etc. The issue I find with this is that this generation of men no longer value these things. Some even weaponize education and say women are too independent because of it.
      Also, I find telling girls things like, "stay in shape to attract a man" is problematic for so many reasons. I 100% agree that it's important for me to teach her how to navigate the dating scene in a healthy way, and prepare her for "watch outs" and how to keep her standards high.
      Overall, I think that teaching her to always strive to be the best version of herself she can be will ultimately help her attract all the good things in life, including the mens if that is part of her journey. 🙂

    My husband is Jamaican (black). I know Jamaican men tend to have a bad rep, but he treats me SO well.
    When we first got married, I moved to Jamaica to be with him, and I didn't have no damn money, lol. This man not only worked long hours to make sure we were good, but he'd come home and literally give me his pay. I don't think he even opened the envelope.
    The first time we had sex (which was also my first time), I was concerned that he'd leave me. He held me and told me that he cherishes me. I have never in my life been loved like this by a man.
    One of my sisters is married to a white man who treats her so well. He's so affectionate, always looking out for her best interest.
    There are definitely men out here who know how to show love. I'm glad more black women are no longer tying themselves strictly to the notion of black love. I'm glad that they're accepting love wherever it's given.

They drive hours to take me on dates, they always pay, pick me up. Treat me really nice. I haven’t had any bad dates Or relationships. I dated outside my race and while I did get the “pasta and lobster” treatment, the relationship ended the same way it does with the men of my race. I just had a more luxury experience. With that, I have decided to just go with who actually wants to treat me well because they actually love me, and not a luxury treatment. As my dad says, someone with stickability. Now I’m in a relationship with a black man and I’m being loved well. Basically, I just want people to release this idea of materialism and build a life with someone who you do not have to question cause they show up with good character, integrity, patience, kindness, etc. If all that comes with luxury then great. What I’m saying is don’t look for luxury and then you’re eating pasta and lobster with someone with terrible character who would care less if you were in their life or not. Princess treatment does not equate to someone actually willing to go the distance with you.

    • @hellostephco84
      @hellostephco84  ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Very true! I think "pasta and Lobster" is a more of a metaphor. That's why in the video I say "find whatever that looks like for you." Some people might have a gluten and shellfish allergy lol, so they gotta think different. But you're exactly right, materially satisfying relationships don't always equal to loving relationships. Absolutely correct.

      Thank you for saying that. All races of women are all over tik tok explaining how horrible ALL men are to them and bw are online praising men's skin color ...YET AGAIN...this time just instead of bm it's now nonbm. Basically the same blck male worship just swirl edition.
      Thank you for telling them the truth. Same for me. Men are men. Focusing on skin color means nothing.

    • @user-dv3kq3rm4h
      @user-dv3kq3rm4h ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you. I know Stephco actually advocates for all types of love which is great. But this movement of materialism just reminds me of the femininity movement. It's scary how online mindsets create communities which just consists of people only looking at the pros of something and not the reality or the full picture. For example a lot of swirling communities online only consist of women who have had 100% top notch treatment from non-black men and everyone co-signs this and anybody else who has a counter point just gets bullied or called a 'mammy'. In real life I know personally know bw who've been in dv relationships with wm- but god forbid I say this online in certain spaces. In reality there's good and bad with all men, though I understand the overwhelming issues women have with bm. But these fads and trends of how we should live is scary to me, because we don't really know what people's lives are like. They could be eating lobster and pasta and behind the scenes that man is emotionally abusive or dismissive. I'm not saying we shouldn't have standards, just that we shouldn't be so quick swoon over the lifestyles of people on social media. In a few years time, just like people are doing with the red pill community, and femininity movement, people will start to see how this focus on materialism also has it's cons. Lifestyles shouldn't be fads.

    My husband is mixed Puerto Rican and black, and he is awesome, we are 50/50 (well maybe 70/30) on bills, but he spoils me. We just had our honeymoon in Japan, all paid for by him. He took us to Puerto Rico our first year together. He took us to Pennsylvania for snow boarding and skiing. He spoils me for Bday and Vday and Xmas...whatever I want he got it...I just don't go over board because we both make near six figs and I don't want to take advantage. He is very lucky because a lot of women would exploit his generosity and kind heart, and apparently his exes did on a small level, he was military so it wasn't like they were getting bags lol. My college aged Black daughters have been unilaterally mistreated by young Black men. Or the better young Black men don’t choose them, they choose non-Black girls. Or too many young Black men want my daughters to be part of their harem or to do the friends with benefits foolishness. It’s frustrating and dispiriting.
    My daughters have had enough. One has been in a relationship with a Korean guy for two years and he treats her like a queen. The other has been dating a White guy and he also treats her like a queen. They both have had plenty of lobster and pasta. These guys are both accomplished and thriving. It’s young Black Gen Z women’s new normal. Less Black struggle love for them like what happens/happened too often in previous generations.
    As for Blue Ivy, too many small minded, broken insecure Black women have made such cruel comments about Blue Ivy’s hair as a baby. Then they made bizarre rude comments about record-breaking Olympic medalists Simone Biles and Gabby Douglas. I’m sick of it. These Black women think that Blue, Simone, and Gabby are “embarrassing us” with their hair and “their edges.” However, these Black women criticizing their hair instead of applauding their revolution for Black athletes are the ones embarrassing themselves with their baggage and their cruelty.
