Great video Ahmed. Back in the days of the X-E2, there was an option to put "Start video reccording" on an FN button. So while you're in photo mode, you just had to press one button to not only go into video mode, but start recording immedately and pressing the shutter release stopped the recording and put you back into photomode instantly. That "feature" was removed in the latest firmware update for the X-E2 and they did what you just showed here. That was the best thing and I wish Fuji would allow this perfect user experience for hybrid shooters today. I'm receiving my X100V soon and would use it in the same way as you do.
Having shot a short film on this camera, I'd recommend getting a gimbal for any handheld shots, a Tiffen Black Pro Mist 1/4 to get a more film like look from the video, and a complete "second sound" set up (not just a video mic into the camera). The audio from the camera is bad--but good enough to sync up with audio captured with an external recorder/boom mic (use a slate).
You prolly dont give a damn but does any of you know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly lost my password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Zayn Francis Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Great vid, Ahmed. I love my X100V. I feel it’s a super slept on video camera. Again, better for short form content and missing the IBIS, and obviously more for street photog, but very solid nonetheless. It captures beautiful footage! I love shooting everything I can with this thing. Been using for just about 2 years now. Thanks for sharing, man!
Hy Man really great video, Thanks for sharing it. I tried using the video on my x100v but I don't have control over the apeture, iso, or shutter speed, have you had this issue, am I doing something stupid? Thanks for your help.
Newbie here to shooting video... Love the features for the still images.. Could you recommend a small stabilizer/ gimbal.. for this camera? Just found you will subscribe..
My friend how can I set the shutter speed to 50? I am recording at 25fps and I need to double it but on the weel I can’t make smaller increments. Thanks
Thanks for the great video. What can you tell us about the shutter speed versus the frame rate? I've heard that the optimal shutter speed is 2x the frame rate. Does the camera automatically pick an optimal shutter speed, or is it advised to manually set this? Also, what is your experience with different bitrates?
You have to set the correct shutter speed for your frame rate...if you set it wrong, the motion will look weird. I suggest you play with the settings so you get a feel for it.
Hey man, your review is really helpful. I have a question for you. I want to record 1080 video with my X100V, but the footage ends up being too shaky. Is there a technic I can use to solve this? And is there a recording time limit for 1080 too? Please share with me some tips for having decent 1080 footage with this gear, I really need some guidance here :D
he said it in the video. the camera doesn’t have IBIS (in body image stabilizer) so you need to be very still if shooting handheld. if you can’t do that then you’re gonna have to invest in a gimbal
4k can help with stabilizing footage in software, but sounds like you're new to this so here's my tips for you: -know your shot and movement before hand and don't just whip the camera about. -use your legs and core to turn and rotate, while keeping both hands on the camera, elbows tucked in and hold your breath during the shot if you can -keep the camera close to your body -again, move with your legs and not your arms. if you have to take steps, then ninja walk as if you were stalking a deer in the woods and couldn't make a sound
I have two toddlers, ages 5 and 3. Running around all the time. Not always in ideal light. How do you think the 100v autofocus would be for this task, trying to get sharp in-focus candid photos of the kids and family as we are out and about? I’m currently using a Ricoh GR2 and I’m just not getting a great hit rate in terms of good focus, particularly in low light.
Hmmmm, In my Real world use of the camera, the autofocus is snappy and I never get missed focused shots, even when using the burst mode. It has Fujifilm‘s latest auto focus technology so far, I think it’ll be just fine
Pity about the lack of IBIS and the overheating and the short filming time and the small battery and the rather sluggish auto-focus. The X-T4 can be used confidently as a video camera - but the X-100V? Really?
Part of the problem is if we step up to an interchangeable lens camera, then we have to decide what leads to buy, and at least two decision fatigue… The beauty of just having one camera that can do most of what you need is that you don’t have to think about it too much. I’m the kind of person that gets overwhelmed easily with many different options, and that actually hinders my creativity… Yeah this video is just an exploration to see if this camera can do video turns out it can , just not exceptionally well.
I can’t find how you set up button function in video mode and in photo mode. It does not save the setting as you say. I did map a button to a function in video mode, and different in pictures mode. But when I go back in video mode, I have the pictures function in my video button.
The button itself is always set to "Full HD HIGH SPEED REC", it doesn't change from photo to video mode. What does change is your film simulation and other settings, which can be set by setting your video settings (Aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc) then turn on "MOVIE SILENT CONTROL" in the movie pane, panel 4. This saves those settings in video mode. I'm sure the manual has more information about this as well.
I think flat log isn't useful if you are only shooting 8bit. I think it's possible it can record a higher bit file to an external drive, why else would they include flog? Edit: I checked and yes, it can shoot 10bit through hdmi recording. This is why it has f log. You will lose quality if you shoot flat video in 8bit.
Don't you know, is there any external 10bit recorder without a screen? Anything small with just an SD card slot and preferably 265 codec could be useful.
Thank you so much for this video! I have X100F and use it every day but I want to venture more into videography as well and I am currently torn between getting the X100V and X-T4. If the video and photo settings are truly separated it would make a big difference, on X100F it takes so long every time I want to take a video. Please could you elaborate a little more, though? Particularly, does the movie mode remember (separate from stills shooting mode): - white balance setting: i would keep it on auto for photos but could want to lock it in video - iso setting: I mostly use iso auto profiles for photos (also controling shutter speed with them) but locking iso in video would help in some situations - autofocus settings: For example I would like to try the new AF Range Limiter ( it looks promising! alikgriffin.com/using-af-range-limiter-for-better-auto-focus-x100v/ ) for photos but might want it disabled in video or vice versa As for the focusing, can you use the AEL/AFL button or touching the screen to engage autofocus while in manual focus mode? On X100F you unfortunately cannot do that after starting the recording only beforehand. Something else I learnt during my research: while the X100V has "movie silent control" which should enable changing settings on the touchscreen, the X-T4 has "movie optimized control" which should enable touch screen *and* dials to override the dedicated dials.

@Zayn Francis It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much you really help me out !
@Ahmad Ronald glad I could help :D

Like these videos on the X100V. You just a bit more light on your face in your studio setup.
Awesome video, so easy to digest. Thank you
Maybe with "small or compact" gimbal
Ooo yeah that’s a good idea, I’ve never used a gimbal before
I did not know that you could map the function. Good to know
Hy Man really great video, Thanks for sharing it. I tried using the video on my x100v but I don't have control over the apeture, iso, or shutter speed, have you had this issue, am I doing something stupid? Thanks for your help.
Bro can you make Fuji x100v video settings tutorial?
Can you change exposure while video recording
Hello which specifically sdcard are you using? Mine is stopping to record and “write error” is appearing on my screen.
Thanks so much for this video. It was very helpful.
Newbie here to shooting video... Love the features for the still images.. Could you recommend a small stabilizer/ gimbal.. for this camera? Just found you will subscribe..
Can you use Custom Video Recipes for the VIDEO part of the camera or are the Custom saved Recipes for the Picture taking only ?
It looks like the custom recipes are only for photo, unfortunately. I can't find a way to use them in video.
Don't you have AF noise when filming video with x100v?
My friend how can I set the shutter speed to 50? I am recording at 25fps and I need to double it but on the weel I can’t make smaller increments. Thanks

@@corybrown8196 Thank you my friend! You helped a lot.
love this! thanknyou
New firmware on the 17th let's you use ND Filter in video.
What!? Really, that would be awesome! Feb 17th 2021?
@@eidfilms Yep, a few other tweaks as well. Letting you use it as a webcam etc
@@eidfilms That Firmware is out now :)
Just upgraded to it. Yes!!
@@SideshowBob44 downloaded! I mapped a custom button for the ND filter and it works in both photo and video now
Is it possible to have manual control of the video settings while I’m in movie mode?
Yes
@@eidfilms how!! I’ve tried all morning to trying to figure that out but not using the “set up” on the touch screen 🥲

Did you add image stabilization after or was that all unedited? Have you tried does it help at all?
No image stabilization was added, that’s all handheld or camera on a surface.
This look more amazing With a Zhiyun M2

How is the eye tracking ? As good as XT-4?
Yeah it’s pretty reliable. I had the X100F and the V is YEARS ahead of it in terms of AF performance

Best review!
Very very intuitive and well structured 👌
How’s the continuous autofocus ie tracking in video?
I would say is an 8 out of 10… Definitely usable for personal work, but for client work I would not rely on it
That's not the upgraded battery. It's the same battery since the X-Pro2.
Hmmmm, oh yeh I think you are right. The battery was upgraded with the XT4. Thanks for catching that!
