I love how in a lot of music videos the singer has his homies behind him but here is where it really makes sense. They are not trying to bring attention or anything, they are just there to listen, just there for their homie who is speaking of a lot of his problems. They literaly got his back in the realest way.

I think the Scottish had these poets that used to recite the poets really fast, almost like rapping. I don't know too much about it but I remember hearing that somewhere
I don't know about whole UK in general as some accents (some English dialects in particular) don't really suit the rap style (I get that the UK is much more varied in dialects than stateside) but most Scottish voices seem to suit the rap perfectly, better than some American voices but I think the music style would suit it better with things like Treach on Feel me Flow ('94) stuff like that. There should be more older aged rappers too as well as an overall bigger scene, there's huge potential in it. I heard that rap actually started in Scotland supposedly and then it was later taught to Americans who worked the fields by Scots, and then it gradually became popular with a lot of the black folks.

Funny how us Scottish folk can understand and wrap our heads around all the english accents in rap/hiphop/grime, get used to the terminology without much effort and never complain about it yet it doesn't work the other way around. I wouldn't say it's stronger than a thick scouse or geordie accent, it's just different. I wasn't used to hearing english accents with jamaican terminology and american street slang at one point, it wasn't like I heard Dizzee Rascal for the very first time and it all just made sense instantly but I didn't complain about the music. Heres Johnny, I'm 23, Scottish and could count on one hand the amount of people I have ever encountered that speak Gaelic. All of those people being Gaelic teachers or old highlanders. Gaelic is a dead language and nobody, especially not shogun speaks it 😂 You seem to portray that you know scotland pretty well, but if we speak 'scots' (which is just english with a different accent and a couple slang words you dont know the meaning of) then what do english folk speak that have different accents and use different slang and terminology ? There are some blacks in Scotland, but there's way more Asians generally in terms of Scotland's minority groups, and the blacks aren't the way they are in the states with a huge racial divide like in America, they're generally more respectable citizens and civilized and better integrated within Scottish society, but the Asians even more so and have a stronger association with the white Scottish/north British.
