For those wondering, the guy with the long hair and the beard is Magnus Hammersmith, you don't really see him again or learn much about him until season 4.
Which confuses me because when magnus was kicked out, the group didn't look like they were signed to Crystal mountain records (considering they were practicing and living in someone's basement and not an official studio before this scene) and yet, here he is.
Buff or not. Strength is still there. Muscle mass is a hell of a lot easier to regain after it was originally built, than building from scratch. I was 190 lbs. and moved double my weight at 6 foot 2 inches. 30 pounds heavier I can still throw my weight around. I just imagine what I could do with the training again now.
If you pay attention, you can see Nathan's fist nearly misses the guy's chest, yet he's propelled away, like he was punched in the face, and has his nose bleeding afterwards. Conclusion? Nathan is an airbender.

Looking back, it was really clever how Magnus came into the series. You see this clip, and you're like, wait...that's not Toki. No dialogue, not even a spoken name. In fact, the only way you can see his name is on the contract, by rotating the image. Then, you think, well, let me guess, he'll be a villain this season. Nope. No mention whatsoever. Then, next season, we hear about Toki going to a rock camp. Then we see the flyer and who's featured as a guest. Magnus fucking Hammersmith. It looks like the episodes setting him up as an antagonist, only to have him save Toki with an insulin shot. Granted, a few eps later, its revealed its a ruse, but from what we see in Doomstar Requiem, I get the feeling he was the only member of Dethklok he liked. If there was a 5th season, I'd love to find out he survived and goes through a redemption arc.

Well...this video certainly took a very dark turn at the end, didn't it? I remember watching this episode on Adult Swim years ago. Even though part of me hoped that Charles was just hospitalized somewhere, another part worried that he was dead. The end of this flashback poked me in all the wrong feels. I'm glad that Charles came back (thanks to the Church) and more glad that Dethklok channeled the Doomstar and obliterated the shit out of the Assassin in the end. And seeing Magnus off himself with the most epic Seppuku ever was heavy metal mercury-flavored frosting on a very brutal cake! >:-)
I wouldn't be surprised if Charles Foster Offdensen's backstory included West Point, Ranger School, 4 years as an Infantry Platoon Leader in 2-22 Infantry, 10th Mountain Division. Ruthlessly efficient badass. Next to Pickles, my favorite character.

I actually wonder how many years ago this was. Like, I imagine this being at least 7 years before Doomstar Requiem. That gives toki enough time to join the band at 17 (still a teen in DR) and enough years for the guys to age/get out of shape.
I feel like Pickles was a bit more mature. In the clip in Dethcamp when Magnus was still in the band, Pickles actually looked serious playing the drums.
